But since it was a new bike got it replaced in warranty, if your bike is within the warranty period, get it changed under warranty.

Is the bike making a kat kat kat kat sound when giving the thumb stater ? It might feel like the bike has no fuel at all to start the bike.

it is definitely not a battery problem. no sounds when pressing the starter button. one minute it was fine. I parked it, went to a shop, and pressed the starter and it would not work.
i think, all the terminals do need cleaning as suggested by shv18. the bike is 2 yrs old and 50000km on odo.

The rains do create problems for switches. I have faced similar issues with the self switch. Sometimes, it will not start with one gentle press, i have to apply more force for self to kick in. I would suggest, you get the contactor of the self switch checked. Does the bike make that typical starting sound or there is no sound?

      Cheerz!!

Went to the dealer to inquire about my bikes RC book ( Could have called but who doesn't like adding more kms to their odo :P ) So over there i just asked him about the bike .
I told him about the fairing vibes - and engine sound - He said the engine has/is opening .. so thats the tappets making sound .

Also asked him how hot does a engine get normally .. - Operating temperature 103 degree Celsius .. No wonder water evaporates when the engine is at the operating temperature
He also said one thing that many people say .. we hear but even hearing it over a million times - still makes us feel good -- "Sir aap itna tension mat lo . bike ko kuch hua toh we'l handle it .. aap bus aaram se chalao ."
        ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Im facing a somewhat similar prob with my light switch .. when i switch on my headlights. the odo light doesnt come on - i have to wiggle the switch a bit to start it . :3
Gonna get plastics for all that can be covered After all . Dulhan Saji hui bahut khubsurat dikhti hai

          Guys I think i have a problem.
Last time I told that I kept hearing some squeaking sound coming from bike, turns out it was the front wheel fork and they greased it completely and bike was fine.
Yesterday While riding, it has again started coming. It has just been 15-20 days since my first service so I ask you. What mustve been the problem?
Is there anyway I can stop it from happening again, other than greasing it every 20 days like this!

Guys, can the WD-40 be sprayed on the switches? The self is not working properly

Found the problem, the switch itself is the culprit same as in your case. I will have to do the fiddling myself, since the svc guys and mechanics here seem to be too lazy to even check for the problem. will get some tools tomorrow.

              thanks for the input.

while riding I am getting a metal (like a lose screw or a metal wire clinking) sound , its very much audible, what might be the cause for it?

Check for chain slackness.. A loose chain can touch the swing arm and cause noise.. Also check the tool kit below the seat and see if the noise is coming from the tools striking to one another..

                  Ride safe and have fun.

As guided by a fellow xBhpian, I post my query:

Fellow comrades, When I go past bumps, ditches, pits & rough patches, I feel a vibration in the handlebar assembly & odd sound coming out of the whole front end (console head) of the bike. This was once rectified in SVC with replacement of a set of bolts. Now the vibration is worse,, it feels like the whole assembly is going to dismantle & I would have 'the great fall'

I request knowledgeable FZ owners to throw some light. I would also like to know the name of the bolt set & where exactly are they located in the front end of the bike?
                    I appreciate the help!!

While passing over the bumps you feel it or while riding on normal road you feel? The sound from front is "squeak"?

I experience the 'cheap bike vibration' in any road other than normal (highlighted in post). The sound in not 'squeak' and more like - ghadak, ghada, ghada, ghadak (breakdown)

PS - You could have rescued me in the other thread as well but I get your intention; thanks mate!!; I hope this is where you wanted me to post

"Ghada ghada ghadak" a song can be made

This sound is more from the speedo. I use to face it, but somehow it vanished.

Check for play in the steering. All bolts are visible, tighten them and check for vibes.

                          • Selling my Yamaha FZ16

                            Hello Everyone,
I am leaving the country this September and i want to sell my yamaha fz16. I dont have much knowledge about bikes so i am posting here to get a knowledge of how much my bike is worth(for the sole purpose of me not getting swindled). I bought my bike on 26th feb 2011. She is 2.5 years old now and has clocked 11k on the odo. Never been in an accident/fall and there are no scratches on the bike. I handled the bike very carefully and i never rev beyond 5k so the bke must have a decent milage(nevr bothered to check it) It is a stock with no aftermarket modifications. The buying price was 77k with insurance. How much will i get for my bike now?

yea, change the full set after every 12k kms.. why take chances
the stock yamaha parts are very reliable.. go with the yamaha chain set (in my opinion) it would cost the same..
