Normal life is near 18-20k and starts to slip from 20-21k km.
Since you must be a ver ysensible biker without making those sudden curve and leaning (I assume), you didn't noticed any slipping (Mini-Heart Attack's :P)

      Get a new tyre dude.
When front tyres slips, its (very) hard to control bike.
Get the tyres now before some damage due to fall (Fingers crossed)

Go for Dunlop 140 Size Tyre.
I got in my Fazer & Fz Both.
The grip is so awesome and more than Stock tyre.
And the price is also good.

140 size tyre with good air pressure gonna add near about a inch more height to Bike + very little increase in throttle and average (I felt so).
First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

Since the rains have started and pouring down really hard. How often is the chain to be lubed in this weather condition? Also, any preventive measure to stop water seeping into the fuel tank?

        Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Hello guys, Yesterday I took my ride onto highway and i was so impressed with the way it went till 100.I was on full throttle. After that it went till 109 and then something strange happened. The speed started gradually reducing and 109>108>107>106>105>104. I was on fully twisted throttle.Even though the speed came to 104 and settled there. I must mention that this was the first time i rode my bike at >100km/h. SO after reaching home, immediately i checked the spark plug and it was black coated. i cleaned it with a cloth and then it was clean again. You can see the plug before and after cleaning in the following images.Click image for larger version

Please tell what can be inferred from the spark plug condition. Is it worn out? any changes in AFR? etc etc

no offence but i am astonished with all new riders who never bother to read the owner's manual which comes along with your respective bikes. It has been clearly mentioned that during 1st 500 kms the rpms have to maintained under 4k and after that it should be taken upto 6k rpm (unless the newer versions have a different manual or they have stopped providing it!!). If you are way to gentle with your ride then you risk scuffing the cylinder walls and damaging the engine cylinder and piston side wall. Follow what the manufacturer has recommended you to do.

It is important as a rider to first go through the documents and the service manual provided along with your bike to first acquaint yourself with your bike. I would recommend rather request all newbie riders to follow this exercise first before posting queries as believe me you will be better equipped in answering half of your own questions in this regard.

Coming back to the query, it is not an issue if you have completed only 800 kms as of now. Get the servicing done within the recommended period and now start opening her up. If you witness slightly harder gears or gear slips, not to worry, it will become smooth as you finish the first 3 services.

            Cheers,

Hey shv.. Thanks for the reply.. Now its actually 1700 on my odo, and the first service done a month ago.. Yeah only after seeing the threads here and couple of replies i got here, am opening her.. And on a try to check the max speed it does, it went upto 109.. But it was on a windy day - Electronic city fly over.. I guess it can go another 3-5 kmph more.. Next time planning to take on Nice roads..

@sivaram... how many kms have you covered? I somehow find the condition of the plug to be ok.

Recently i did a long highway run and just like you, even i could not go above 100kph. The bike really struggled to go till 104kph and maintain that speed. I guess, the bikes nature is like that. Not sure if AFR can help in this regard. Also, somebody had suggested me to change the AFR settings for this. But, since i dont do long runs very often, i have not changed the same.

                Cheerz!!

Life of your tyre can vary depending on your riding style and conditions you ride in. I've heard of people changing they're tyres after 15k and some even after 30k. So you can imagine how much of an impact those two conditions has in your tyre life.

As for thr second hand tyre, In would advise against it. Might as well put in a few hundred or a thousand more and get a brand new tyre that you know will give you good grip.

Take it to trusted mechanic or go to reliable Yamaha SVC and get the parts checked. I would advise you to stand besides your bike when the parts are checked or opened up.

I would beg to differ from you in this regard. The maximum speed that I achieved with my Fazer is 123 kmph (solo riding). And I frequently do 100KMPH+ rides along with pillion also. Though after 100 kmph the speed increases a bit slowly.
