He is riding in stock condition. I'm also in dielemma that how he gets that much speed on a stock bike. And he also claims that he gets mileage of 45 above (if I remember correctly).

I am not sure about the mileage. He may be correct. But the engine RPM of FZ 16 at 125 kmh is above 9500. That too depends many other factors such as rider’s weight, inflation of tire etc. It is not easy to reach that speed in any circumstance as the maximum power output of it is at 7500 RPM. So I guessed it may be modified.

        • at speed of 110 and above no one will get mileage of 45... if you remember the breakdown of the mileage details i gave correctly ... @jonahmano... and yes i am using a complete stock bike... just with an upgrade of 15T from 14t

Sorry bro, but that is inexact.

On a video on posted on Youtube, Joel Joseph, probably wearing lo-drag full race gear and knowing well how to crouch, got a speed of 135kmh, with his piston, race cam, etc, BUT with stock sprocket and stock CDI, which cuts a 9,500 rpm.
Thus one can deduct that 135kmh (and not 125) is the (maximum ?) speed obtainable at 9,500 rpm.

Anyway: answering to bro "Bike-man": My bike (modified Fazer 200cc, with 15 teeth sprocket), easily reaches 125kmh., 135 being my max. so far. I practically never go below 100kmh on highways, more in the 110/ 115 range, and often get myself stuck for a while behind a truck going at 100 and that I want to overtake. I found this bike remarkably stable, even in that shake of air, and specially during the overtaking (always a bit scary, though!). I then cannot understand where/ how is it you get the wobble you describe...??? I do not deny your saying that you never experienced that on your Pulsar (well: semi-faired, right?....: that may have something to do with it...???) , but would suggest that all the other elements of your bike get well checked: play in the fork bearings, equilibration of your tyres/ wheels (at speeds over 100kmh, that matters), has the bike ever suffered any accident before you had her (unless yo bought it new...) and is the frame still with perfect geometry...???

Also: I would like to shake a bit what seems to me a legend that the FZ16 (whatever version) cannot sustain speeds close to the max. Where, how, when has anyone done any objective tests to support this free affirmation????
This bike appears to me a grossly underpowered. Does not mean under-built! How can one say that it can sustain higher constant speed just by changing the piston for "miracle RC" one (or my 66mm. diameter one!), and not do it with stock piston which imposes lower stresses to all the other components???
When one will have melted his stock piston after a long ride, with a well maintained bike, THEN will he be able to report it. In the meantime: stop this affirmation, please.

Just like: Question: "at what revs. should I shift gear?" > Answer: "4.5 to 5.5 k. rpm". Nonsense! THAT is why you cannot get over 100kmh! Shift over 6k. rpm when Cruising, better 7k., and over 8 k.rpm on sporty ride, and live happy!

Give it a gun, let it go, roar, fly!

            • Guys, i need help on my FZ16 rear tyre. I drive is very less, 8000 kms in 3 years. I have noticed the tyre is getting damaged from right side. I have noticed this in many FZ and am sure lot of us are facing this issue. Any help.

I mean the tyre is not used evenly from both sides, it has gone off more from right side, i have noticed this is normal problem with FZ16. Visited yamaha service on sohna road gurgaon, the mechanic said there must me miss alignment in chain or swingarm is bent. Swingarm bent isnot possible in my case as my bike is accident free and i have saved it from bad potholes.

Great to hear that you are getting maximum speed of 126 and 127 km/hr and no offence on that claims but it maybe because of two reasons

                1. Speedo-meter might not be accurate after 120km/hr speed

                2. There is some special thing in your bike, please share it with Yamaha Guys, they might take it for research and may pay hefty in return.

If the reason 2 is right then I would wait for 1 more year for the research results then start upgrading mine, hhahaha

Anyways no offence brother, Take a GPS device and cross check your speed and just don't rely on speedometer.

This I always tell in other foreign FZ-16 forums when guys there claim that they have reached 140km/hr on stock.

I'm waiting for the accurate results.

after 3 years, due to exposure to elements the tires are becoming hard. if i am correct your tire is showing signs of wide cracks may be mainly on the right side...

Everything has a shelf life. get the tire checked from an MRF dealer. if the tires need to be replaced well you know what to do.

                  Cheers,

                  • hello bikers, _/\_

yesterday i was driving thru stop-go traffic, i noticed that the engine had heated a lot and i could feel the heat on my leg also and on to the fuel tank (the bike had done 20-25kms). I was a bit shocked to feel this. I decided to cool of my bike to get it in right shape again. My baby is just 7 months old and has done 4100KMS on it. I dun over strain my bike in any way, have done periodical services with regular oil changes and other required stuffs for it.

Again after driving for about 10 odd KMS (after cooling), i could again feel the heat, this time the traffic was running. Also, i had to accelerate a bit on the higher side in the 1st gear (does not happen on regular days) for the pick up, or else the bike would stop. I am somehow not comfortable with the Yamalube.

What are your views on this?? Any issues have you faced with the Yamalube??

                    Cheerz!!!

Today morning when I tried starting my bike tick-tick sound was coming whenever I pressed the start button.
I was familiar of this sound and knew that this was due to starter motor. Bend down to check the stater motor.

I was shocked to see that my Starter Motor was STOLEN
It is a neat job. The robber removed the wires and unscrewed all the nuts properly. I dont have the pics as of now as I was late for office. But I will upload the pics today evening.
Defenitely the person removing it knew about the motor and how to remove it. All the FZ's which were parked near mine are safe. I was the only one who suffered.
Currently I am thinking of getting a FIR logged in the evening. Checked with Kamla Yamaha and Imtiyaz said that new one costs 1200 Rs and no point in going for insurance.
                      Here are the pics:
                      Starter Motor Stolen:

With no option I finally bought a new starter motor. Total cost with Labor: 1450 Rs

Any bike would get heated when you ride it in bumper to bumper traffic!! Actually in traffic while riding in 1-3 gear makes more heat in engine, So nothing to worry and top of that it's Air cooled! So it get heated quick and cool slowly!!

I didn’t say that that speed is impossible but difficult to attain. It was from a simple logic: my bike’s maximum power is at 8500 rpm and I know how difficult it is to reach that level. So I thought you may have modified the engine for performance to reach higher rpm easily, especially as you have asked about modifying the gear ratio. The common practice of overly exaggerating one’s own bike’s – not that bike in common – speed or pickup too led me to that conclusion. Suppose somebody claims to have overtaken a Ninja 250 with his 100 cc bike. That has happened here. So, please do not misunderstand me.
And upgrading to 15 teeth sprocket increases the speed and mileage considerably if a good part riding is through plains.

jonahmano,With 40/15 sprockets, FZ reaches 80-90 or 125 at lower rpm. There may be speedometer error but it is common in almost every bike.

Use the SS yamalube. It has much higher heat dispersing qualities. Try it in your nxt service feel the difference

                            • I have crossed the speed of 110 km/h without any wobbling or heavy vibrations and I am using 15T front sprocket but in stock conditions it become very lethargic to gain speed after 100km/h. Using the modifications will ease in reaching the top speed.
