Even I am using Rs. 90 bulb from Bosch without anh problem.

10k life for a chainset? man.. Yamaha sure is taking customers for a ride.
I would suggest you to tak it to a local mechanic. Every city has a bike market and do a bit searching there and you will surely find a good mechanic. These svc guys mostly do nothing.

And use Tapatalk to browse the forum. Much better than the xbhp app.

        Ride safe and have fun.

The Oil grades to be used are mentioned in the service book. 20w40 or 20w50 grade oil.

Though I myself use 15w50 castrol Power One for the last 4-5 oil changes and earlier used Yamalube 15w50 oil.

The Problem is solved after so long time I checked with a mechanic near by my home, he said the same thing like no need to change anything, the problem would be in the Choke cable or Carb diaphram , he checked both choke cable is rusted so changed that and adjust the AFR, now my Yammy is good with little vibration... thanks guys... will update regarding mileage.

              • Problem with my Yamaha Fazer

                Hi All,

I have owned Yamaha Fazer v1.0 model. I am facing problem with my speedometer, it is always showing ODO 619 in Kms meter. I am new to this ODO meter and Trip meter. Whenever i am using my bike the trip meter jumps to next number but not showing how many KMS driven . Is my speedometer not working properly or any setting make it fine?

And also i couldn't extract good mileage from this bike(30kmpl or less ) in city. How can i extract maximum mileage? Where it needs to be improved?

I can able to turn on twin lamps but i don't know how to turn on the small pilot lamp. Could you guide me how to turn it on?

Whenever am traveling with second passenger on pillion seat, if i am about to drive the bike over a big speed breaker or large path hole, i could felt folded stand is touching the ground. Which is giving almost heart-attack . Is it a common problem with every other fazer?

Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

                Warm Regards,
                Raviteja M

                  • Repairing and Modifying my 2009 Yamaha FZ-S or buying a new bike.

Hello guys, I have 09 Yamaha FZ-S which I bought second hand last year for 27000 (I bought it for learning purpose). For the first 8 months it was working buttery smooth, but slowly its performance has gone down and started giving trouble. I tried fixing the bike from a local mechanic and it worked for 2-3 months during which I used it as a tourer. Again this week it started giving problems and a plastic burning smell was coming from the front side of the bike between the exhaust pipe and engine. The mechanic advised me to take it to the Yamaha service center which I did and the service center guy said the servicing charges might go around to 6-8000 (a fuel tank gauge/ a new accelerator cable/ Clutch Cable/ Front Spring/ Chain Sprocket / Something T idk/ and many more things). Plus I wanted to change the tyres to the stock ones or Pirelli ones (the first owner had used P220 tyres) and add a fazer like fairing to the Bike as I want to use it as a tourer. So overall cost was coming to 18-20000 INR. I wanted your advice whether I should proceed with this service or buy a new bike. If you are suggesting a new bike please recommend a few (for normal city riding + touring) within a budget of 1.20 lakhs. I wont be purchasing a new vehicle for another 5 years if I get one now. And this is my first thread so please bring to my notice if there are any mistakes.

First you can try the option of fixing your bike. If that doesn't work out, then look for a new bike!

If you don't have a very good rapport with that local mechanic, it is never advisable to take your bike there. The company SVC is a better bet.

Owners will be able to better advise you on the cost of changing of parts.

Stock tyres are decent enough for touring i believe and you really don't need a fairing for touring on a 150cc bike!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

                            1. Could you recommend a few bikes within the mentioned budget in case the servicing doesn't work out properly.
                            2. We have entrusted almost every two wheeler we have owned with our local mechanic so trust issues are out of question.
                            3. What must be causing the engine to smoke so much.. I can literally see white vapours coming out and sometimes a plastic burning smell from it.

White smoke = Intake & Exhuast Valves and Valve seats are gone! Do you redline or ride above 7500 rpm alltime? Becuase the valves of a Yammy lasts almost 50k kms. Check it at only ASC with a very reliable good mechanic, because local mechanic cannot do this "Valve adjustment". Cost around 360/-+ Labour charges if the mechanic/service center is not a robber.

Black smoke = Piston rings are gone! Engine is consuming Engine Oil and the reason of this the owner rides the bike always with high rpms.

I drive my bike carefully within speed limits of 60-80 and do not revv it up to the red line as I'm a beginner. I took it to the YAMAHA Service Center at Lower Parel, Mumbai. The supervisor said the engine is fine only some minor parts need to be replaced. He was talking something about valves and pistons idk. I am a complete noob in this as this is the first geared two wheeler in the entire family rest of the two wheelers we possess are Kinetics, Activas and Scooties. They gave the estimation of entire work as something around 3500 including labor charges and parts replacement which includes the headlight , The side cover, the mechanical thingies and polishing.
