I tried fixing the bike from a local mechanic and it worked for 2-3 months during which I used it as a tourer. Again this week it started giving problems and a plastic burning smell was coming from the front side of the bike between the exhaust pipe and engine. The mechanic advised me to take it to the Yamaha service center which I did and the service center guy said the servicing charges might go around to 6-8000 (a fuel tank gauge/ a new accelerator cable/ Clutch Cable/ Front Spring/ Chain Sprocket / Something T idk/ and many more things). Plus I wanted to change the tyres to the stock ones or Pirelli ones (the first owner had used P220 tyres) and add a fazer like fairing to the Bike as I want to use it as a tourer. So overall cost was coming to 18-20000 INR. I wanted your advice whether I should proceed with this service or buy a new bike. If you are suggesting a new bike please recommend a few (for normal city riding + touring) within a budget of 1.20 lakhs. I wont be purchasing a new vehicle for another 5 years if I get one now. And this is my first thread so please bring to my notice if there are any mistakes.
You can try Gixxer sf or pulsar 150rs if u want a faired on
Or rtr 200 4v,hornet,gixxer if u are ok with non faired ones

    These are just my suggestions.

Has any one tried r300's full synthetic on fzs. I just saw it in yamaha svc, i think it's grade was 10W40, and price was also low as compared to other fs option available in the market. But only thing i'm worried about the viscosity of the oil, i think it will be less viscous because r300 is liquid cooled.

See manual, it says on very last page to use yamalube sl mineral which is 20w40. 10w40 is thin compared to 20w40, suitable for winter, but yamalube semi synthetic 15w50 is very good to use than full synthetic 10w40. Otherwise use motul 300v, motul 5100 or elf moto 4xt tech

I'm currently using motul 300v, i asked just for curiosity.
I hate motul 5100 and 7100 both, bike feel slugish in both of them.

Yes! Motul 7100 20w50 or Motul 5100 15w50 (the popular motuls for pulsar family) is very sluggish. I have used Yamalube FS 10w40, but after 2500km it becomes very very thin like cold drinks.

Ok thanks, so i'm sticking with 300v. Bike feels smoother with 300v as compared to any other oil.

IMO, 300V is an overkill for the bike. Keep a check on the oil level every 700-800kms.
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Yeh! I know that but i got it on sale on amazon. 300v costed me 700rs, which is equal to 7100. And when i was using 7100 and 5100 oil after 2400 km was 600ml. But with 300 v oil level is still good after 1300 km and also its viscosity and color is good. Gear shifting is very good with 300v as compared to 5100 and 7100. I remember my friends saying that i will kill the transmission as the gears make lots of thud noise while shifting with 5100 and 7100.

yesterday, I replaced my engine oil to Castrol Activ 20W-40 Petrol Engine Oil for Two Wheelers (1 L) as the dealer didnt have motul 5100/yama lube.

Pros: The engine is smooth now, makes less noise.
Cons: Throttle response is low, engine breaking is low. Need to give more throttle to go high rpm.

Buy from amazon.in, don't use motul 5100, sliggish in cold starts.

I had been using motul 300v (running on 6th bottle) from 6k on odo, now i am on 34k, only filled yamalube 10w40 on 22k for clutchplates replacement as 300v is not available on YSC. Bike is not killed yet!

                          Hi Guys,

                          I own a Fazer 2010 model and clocked 25000 KM's.

I am facing a strange problem - clutch cable is getting broken frequently.

First incident was 3 months back - SVC changed it and ignored as a normal wear and tear
Second incident, a month after it I got it changed from a mechanic nearby(Not Yamaha SVC) he gave reason as monsoon and Fazer has no proper lining
Third incident, happened yesterday and again I changed.

What could be the problem ? I am confused.

                          Thanks

I change the clutch cable after every 15km, to be on the safe side. Because when i press the lever i can feel the wire is about to break.
Yes monsoon plays a role but breaking that frequent is not acceptable. From which side it breaks lever side or engine side.

Is it necessary to use yamalube 10w40 after changing clutch plates for some km?
