Can a proper engine rebuild be done without a torque wrench?
When i talked to a mechanic from yamaha service center, he told me engine works are done without a torque wrench even there.
    They donot have the wrench.

You are talking to a MORON then!! next time ask him to get the Yamaha FZ workshop manual and ask him if that's the case then why has Yamaha given the specific torque ranges required to tighten the respective bolts on the engine. Has Yamaha designed and manufactured the engine or has the mechanic manufactured it??

I hope you get the point!!

The engine just shuts off no matter which gear im on. I start it back again and rides fine. Keeps happening. Help. And to that i got that misfiring sounds too. So is it all related.

Today i talked to the service center guy again.
I had my clutch plate, front wheel bearing and engine oil changed.
He says the service center doesnt own any torque wrench and all the mechanics are doing engine work just with normal spanners.

Finally he did admit use of torque wrench makes difference but the only time he used the torque wrench was during training. His english is poor so he cant even read the service manual.

You better get is changed. The chain might be the culprit or may be not but still you need to avoid wornout chain and sprocked.
I had mine chaned at around 19000 kms.
Check the chain slackness it might be the real cause or it might be wornout clutch plates.

The chain set has been used way above then limit. Change the chain set.

The spark plug dosent look in good condition. Change the plug. I can see some oil deposits on the plug. Spark plug costs Rs. 115 at Yamaha SVC.

                          Guys,

My chain links show overlapping. As a result of which, when you rotate the chain/wheel, it is smooth and hard at alternate rotations. I have changed the chain & sprocket some ~10000 kms back. Is it possible that it is already time for a new set???

There is leakage(heavy) of oil/fluid nearby the front disc while the main container of brake fluid looks intact. What could be the problem??

Red scratches/linings in the front absorbers and oil seal leakage. Shall I change the seals only or the whole shocks need replacement??

Yup ! It's time to get a new one !
I changed the entire set on my D200 at 7000kms. Pretty disappointing, but after the old one was removed I understood the problem. The sprocket teeth, the space between them deforms, which causes the issue of chain being smooth and hard at alternate rotations.

But, as soon as I rode the bike with a new chain-sprocket set, woah ! felt like new !!!

The chain & sproket set should have been changed after 10000-12000 kms of use, it should have been changed twice during the kms which you have covered till date! Change it ASAP and donot forget to change the sproket along with the chain. You will definitely regain the previous performance after that.

Thanks, bro!! I thought so too. 'guess monsoon has taken a toll and considering my depressing phase, this isn't a surprise either Another question is how long can I run in this condition? my wallet gave up for this month already. Is it risk-free otherwise to run the bike till next month without the change or is this an undeniably mandatory situation call??
