please bear in mind, you may have to upjet your carburettor if you are going for a free flow exhaust to compensate for a higher outflow of gases.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Has anyone figured how to reduce the scrapping of the main stand on speed breakers. Some have suggested to me to increase tyre pressure as 33 is too less for the rear tyre. I have tried 40 and it did help, although I was unsure if it is safe or not, so I returned to 33. I have seen pulsars with over 50 psi tire pressures.. I also got the suspension tighened but not much help there..

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If you have pillion with you and riding over bumps or big potholes, the bottom will touch. This is a common issue in FZ & Fazer series. If there is no pillion and it still touches, you are probably passing the bump with speed. The best is to reduce the speed and pass over it smoothly. It helps doing soOriginally posted by grvrai View PostHas anyone figured how to reduce the scrapping of the main stand on speed breakers. 40psi pressure
The ride will be very bouncy and quite uncomfortable. Putting more air will not help you in anyway.

I'll just add to what has already been said.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIf you have pillion with you and riding over bumps or big potholes, the bottom will touch. You have to slow down. And I mean really slow down. You should be ideally climbing over the bump and not passing over it at speed. This way the suspension won't yield and the bike will lose minimal ground clearance. After that if it still touches then you've got yourself some pretty big bumps there mate
Go around them and not over them!
And 40psi is really high for the rear tyre. You risk tyre damage if you ride bumps hard with that amount of pressure.

Members have given quite good explainations..Originally posted by grvrai View PostHas anyone figured how to reduce the scrapping of the main stand on speed breakers. i will say about the bold part.. I had seen a guy with R15 filling rear tyre at 72 psi.. He had come to the svc with a bent rim and the whole rear tyre was damaged (had uneven surface along the rim) and when the mech asked him, he told about the pressure and even showed that its written on the tyre.. We all had a good laugh then..
so, what people do and say.. Doesn't matter.. Follow whats in the book..
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Guru, maintain 33 psi unless you want damage to your tyres and rim and overall performance. And I don't think you can avoid the scrapping on Indian roads. Look at the brighter side, it's only the center stand and not any other breakable or scar prone area.BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

Abnormal Vibration @ 60KPH and 4500 RPM in Yamaha FZ S
Hi
I recently bought an Second Hand Yamaha FZ and i observed few stuffs in that ....
1 ) When the Speed reaches 60-62kPH @ 4500 RPM , there is a vibration feeling in bike and after 65 kph it vanishes.
is it Normal ???
2 ) When i release my throttle , i get popping sound from the silencer and once engine is hot it stops
Since i am new to Yamaha , can u please suggest me what should be done ?

What vibrations exactly? Is it specific to any part like handle? The FZ gives the stretching (vibes) feeling beyond 65'ish even though it can reach/maintain 90-100.Originally posted by sundarsreekanth View Post

It can be due to the fuel you use. Another knock is before you touch your reserve limit. Nothing much to worry, I presume.Originally posted by sundarsreekanth View Post2 ) When i release my throttle , i get popping sound from the silencer and once engine is hot it stops

1) It is normal and it does happen in my bike. Nothing to worry about.Originally posted by sundarsreekanth View PostHi

2) Do you run on low fuel? If so, the gopping sound will come sometimes. As you have said, once the engine is hot it vanishes. I presume you run on low fuel. Other factor could be, use of adultrated fuel.

Re: Abnormal Vibration @ 60KPH and 4500 RPM in Yamaha FZ S
1) if you ride in 5th gear at 55-60km/h, there would be slight vibrations in the handle area..Originally posted by sundarsreekanth View PostHi

2) as the other member has said, this could be either due to altered fuel or low fuel.. Try filling up from other pump and also check the condition of spark plug..
btw.. How old is the bike..? Kms ??

This is the condition of my 12300 kms old FZ-S, please advice me whether the colour is OK or NOT & the AFR setting is accurate coz after recently servicing my bike during which the tarsun spring was replaced as the previous one was found with a major crack (discovered it as downshifting was not precise & smooth) & after that the gear shift is smooth, also changed the clutch cable, but thereafter it looks like the tuning of AFR seems to be not as it was earlier (may be the mechanic did something with the carb setting), I set the idle around 1200-1500, still the idle sounds a bit roary & the mileage seems to be a bit on the downside (not worried for that though but still as it relates to the condition of engine). Please help regarding the query.Last edited by Abhisek; 10-04-2013, 05:17 PM.

Just got my first bike . Fz16. And so im new to these mechanical things. Help me pls.
I just got my bike around like 19 days back. Just 2weeks in. I had a small prob with the rear brake light and my clutch was too loose. It just was on all time without applying brakes and the clutch was so loose that i couldn't shift into any gear. It was stuck on first. I tried tightening near the lever but would loosen up again. I managed riding to showroom somehow. They fixed it and was all fine. And now i face another problem. While riding constantly without varying the revs ie. The engine just shuts off no matter which gear im on. I start it back again and rides fine. Keeps happening. Help. And to that i got that misfiring sounds too. So is it all related.
