Will give a try to adjust the clutch play tomorrow & see if it works to solve the gear downshifting problem.

Do you clean the front sprocket area too ?
Also if the mech is advising to change the chain set, there must be some reason, probably the chain is damaged or nearing its end, or the sprockets are all sharp and edgy and might slip.
Also, if the chain is almost dead the slackness will increase within a few days, doesn't tka ea week or so. Put the bike on center stand and check the slackness , no use in blindly saying just because the chain was tightened last week.

You have already covered 11k on the odo with the current chain set. It can no way continue for more 10k. The manual advises us to change the chain set @ 15k. How much is the slackness in the chain? Measure it, should be around 30-40mm.

Cheerz!!

I do clean the front sprocket area.
The sprocket teeth are not edgy or sharp as of now.
The chain slackness is around 15-20mm as noticed but not definitely 30-40mm as of now.
The mechanic asked me to change the chain set when I denied him to change one of the links of the chain & he also said the as of now the chain is good to go.
Thats why I got confused.

I adjusted the clutch setting in order to increase freeplay of clutch lever & the gear downshifting problem decreased a bit

And don't take me wrong here friends as I dont want to offend any one by my words but guys I take care of my ride very well.

Chain slackness of 15-20mm means that the chain is too tight. Adjust the slackness to 30-40mm.

Logged in after several months.. Any old time FZ'ers who recollect me still active ??

Anyways 1 little query, The plastic on my speedomeeter display is cracked (due to some object accidentally dropped at the speedo from 2-3 feet storeys) right above the RPM mark.. The speedo works perfectly fine & I'm using a external rain cover to protect it from further damage.

So just want to know if there is any healthy way to replace just the outer body of the speedo & retain the original internal console ? Has anyone tried something like that..? Replacing with new speed is not an option here as i want to primarily retain the ODO reading of my present speedo

I don't think its possible.. The speedo meter is built into a single piece.. So if anything breaks, you would have to replace the whole..

The speedo has to be replaced fully. LCD's cannot be repaired. Can you see all the readings on it? If yes, then IMO, continue to use the same. Only the display has cracked and not punctured.

Guys, had posted a query regarding over heating.. Got the bike serviced n washed properly.. I also told the mech about this heating and he told me the same thing with you guys told me, that the mud on the engine prevents normal cooling , so the heating.. But as now the bike is washed properly, the heating still presists and getting worse.. Got my slegs baked yesterday and today.. A couple of times, it got so uncomfortable that had to stop and let it cool.. don't know what might be the reason..

Check if your engine is running excessively lean. A lean mixture can cause overheating...

Fellas, can anyone tell me the price for the lock assy, fcukin office security broke it last day while man-handling, a second time within a period of 30 days.... I want to know the genuine spare part price - how the hell can it break so easily??? I had a fall a week before, can this be a contributor?? Pacer Motors charged 742/- INR for it while one of my friend did it for some 1200/- INR in Orion Motors - CONFUSED at which is fake & which one's real!!!

nadz11.ns - Bro, a friend had a similar issue & SVC guys were clueless. Check for the lean running once again, if possible do it at your trusted mechanic's garage. Keep us posted, please.

Thanks.

Are you using some different grade of engine oil than the one recommended. IMO, thinner oils would cause heating too.

ya mate, will do so.. i don't want burning legs every time i ride my bike..
i changed to Yamalube Mineral (20w40).. as i used this for the first 18k.. then changed to yamalube SS.. the bike didn't gave any problem till the changed to ss.. so reverted back to mineral to see if its the oil that's giving the problem..
oil should be genuine.. if svc also start selling fake then god knows who will provide genuine products..
