excessive engine oil
Hi,
I was wondering whether there are any ill effects of having filled in excessive engine oil (more than the maximum oil level indicated by the dipstick).
Have any of you done so? any bad experiences?
I have topped up my bike with power1 (on yamalube), it went way past the max.level but the engine performance is top notch now. revs freely, pickup has improved, butter smooth.
Thanks for sharing ur experiences.-AK

Has anyone changed the rim of the rear tire??
Mine rear tire rim has got damaged by the potholes on the road. How do I claim for an insurance for it and how much time does it takes?Stabl'ised by: BlackCat (FZ-16), BlackBird (ThunderBird)

Hi friends, I bought the FZ in nov last year... and its been giving me a mielage of just 30kmpl... but never wanted any of the SVC guys to fiddle with the carburator setting so never mentioned it....
but i faced a problem on my LEH trip the bike couldnt manage the hights... when checked with a local machanic he said its due to excess fuel flow from the carb.... so he put a think copper wire in the Jet and reduced fuel flow... never faced the problem after that... i took the copper wire out after i returned... but the mielage has dropped to 27 Kmpl....
I want to get the Jets changed now... can showone help me with the Jet size of the FZ and where we can get them in Hyderabad... the SVC guys say that it comes with the carb...
thnx guysDelhi-Manali-Leh-Ktop-Srinagar-Delhi 2700Kms (2009)

Thanks Rupesh for the info. But I heard that I'll have to leave my bike at the SVC for the insurance?? And then I'll have to pay from my side for the part and Insurance Comp. will send me the cheque later on??Originally posted by rupeshpnair View Postjust take ur bike to the SVC guys and they will help u out in getting the insurance claimed.... it shouldnt take more than 2-3 days.... i had both my front and rear rims broken and got the bike done in 4 days...

Earlier I used to get a mileage of ~42 kms/l but after my 2nd service have been getting ~53 Kms/l . I was about to post the confirmation of the mileage some time later as I am now in the second iteration of my reserve to reserve testing, but just wanted to say that maybe using SPEED does help in someway.Originally posted by nand15 View Postoh ! 53 kmpl , nice , i've got about 56 on a couple of long trips , thats about it ... else it's been 43 constant , i've been using shell only . so could fuel really help that much ? coz the guy says shell is the worst but for the name .
Holy moly... My bikes done about 900km just over a month old. And I still get only 37-38 kmpl. I'm trying Speed next time and will let you guys know. (Unfortunately filled the tank yest with normal Indian Oil. So its gonna take a while.

depends upon wht kind of insurance u have got.... some insurance would pay it by themselves once the claim is approved... and some u have to pay it upfront and then u would get the check...Originally posted by ayushkant View PostThanks Rupesh for the info. The Seat Cover...!!
Originally posted by k2cool_87 View Postya actually me too.....no pains per say but damn man ass gets numb after every hour....shit need a better seat!!!Is it so... my bum is sore like anything after lot of rides...Gonna get this sure the next time I end up in t he Service CentreOriginally posted by shamanthnv View PostHi, I have put this cover on my FZ using it from 2 months. Yes for long rides you wont feel that numbness in the butt. Acts like the beaded seat cover which is used in cars, so acupuncture effect, And Air circulation does happen under. And slight cushion feeling also. Ya, seat did not get wet in rainy season since there is half an inch mesh gap between seat and you.
This seat cover is starp-on under the seat, so can be removed and clean the seat any time. Got it from Orion SVC bangalore. I had posted the photo also in this same thread sometime back.

The Chain...!!
I think I have an opp. problem. My chain is loose, almost all the time. Such the the chain touches the rubber strap near the front sprocket. And also, it makes this sound which I dont like, not forgetting the vibration it causes. Whereas, I have noticed that all FZs (and variations in form of FZ-s and Fazer) come with almost zero play. More comments please !!Originally posted by Braveheart View PostGuys I have noticed that almost all mechanics have the tendency of overtightening the chain, I do myself check for slackness after every adjustment. When the chain is tight and the bike goes in a pitfall both the chain and sprockets get damaged.
If your rear shocker seems to be stiffer than usual and the ride is bumpy, chain is noisy particularly frnt sprocket when reversing the bike.
Bike should not be driven in this condition as it causes permanent damage to chain sprocket and chassis.
Plz get your chains checked and rectified, Chains failing at 20k are signs of bad maintainence.
One blunt way of confirming is load your vehicle with 2 passengers and then check, there should be enough looseness to make the chain hit the metal/rubber near the foot-rest

Mileage & Pickup
Check your choke cable and plunger. I had a simillar problem. It seemed the choke plunger had not moved to the original position. After fixing, my mileage moved to 35KMPL !!Originally posted by rupeshpnair View PostHi friends, I bought the FZ in nov last year... and its been giving me a mielage of just 30kmpl... but never wanted any of the SVC guys to fiddle with the carburator setting so never mentioned it....
