That is not the air-fuel screw. Its the brass flat screw just hidden below the spring mechanism. Before doing anything. count the number of turns it is turned out, but tightening it fully in, better to use a marker on the screwdriver to count. So incase if any setting fails, you atleast have this setting to come back to.

^^ the one i told you... the screw at the bottom is the drain screw to drain the lower cup of the carb to remove any residual water or dirt. Its also used to let the level of fuel in the float.

Is there any way to check the accuracy of the speedo? I have a very strong feeling that its not showing accurate readings (even after compensating for normal speedo errors)
Also, are there any alternative brands to Motul that anyone would recommend. Was searching a couple of shops but could not find 20w40 (semi-synth)
Thanks!

^^ your best bet would be to take a friend pillion and measure the speed on a hand held gps cell phone. They are pretty accurate. But ensure that you maintain a steady speed, since gps takes a few seconds to update the change in speed. So cruise at a steady 80 to see the difference in speed.

Last time I couldn't find the usual 15W40 Yamalube in my area and as such had to go with other oil. I went to the Castrol BikeZone and after a lot of recommendations and going through the CBZ engine oil book, I went for the Castrol Activ Extra 20W50. I was a little worried about its viscosity but I didn't had a choice then.
Seniors, please share your views. Will this harm my engine? Should I revert back to the basic semi-synth Yamalube the next time I see a Yamaha shop??Stabl'ised by: BlackCat (FZ-16), BlackBird (ThunderBird)

hey ayushkant , i dunno much bout the oils but i can tell u this much that the last number after the w should not change..this is w40 for fz and should remain w40 oil whether be it semi or fully synthetic or mineral...so i think u should revert back to w40 ASAP...Originally posted by ayushkant View PostHey,

Hey thanks for the info, but while I was busy searching the oil options, CBZ book had this recommended oil grade for FZ and it was written that it helps in high temperatures. Anyways, I'll certainly go back to my old oil once I get access to some shop.Originally posted by k2cool_87 View Posthey ayushkant , i dunno much bout the oils but i can tell u this much that the last number after the w should not change..this is w40 for fz and should remain w40 oil whether be it semi or fully synthetic or mineral...so i think u should revert back to w40 ASAP...Stabl'ised by: BlackCat (FZ-16), BlackBird (ThunderBird)

i was also forced to use W50 once,no probs but don't use it regularly.
i remember reading a review in BIKE India(i guess),FZ registered +8km/h more than the true speed.Originally posted by vinais View PostIs there any way to check the accuracy of the speedo?
