Does that work? I mean its supposed to act like a switch right. If u do the same thing to a normal switch(the one used for lights, fans etc) it just switches off.. So is this analogy right? or is there a difference b/w the 2..Originally posted by nottyboy View Postactually..both the lights do work right?? i mean...when you put the switch "in between" high and dim...both the lights are meant to work...

@nottyboy - im not sure that keeping the switch "in between" the two sides is a permanent solution. it works as long as the switch is new and there are no jerks while riding but as i said, its a temporary solution.
i'm thinking of going to a local repair shop and getting the wiring altered but then yamaha might void my warranty.
they've seriously got to do something abt this !!!

Well, actually they do. They have better combustion, that means better fuel economy, obvious difference in pick-up, and less emissions.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Postdude, spark plugs don't improve the bikes performance!!!
they improve cold starting etc!
It's not what you ride, it's your attitude that counts.

The indications point to an incomplete combustion thereby producing soot. At high speeds, this gets blown out of the exhaust. Check the following:Originally posted by umeshkumawatsa View PostGuys yesterday i saw black color smoke coming out of my fz16 engine on high rev what could be the reason and please help guys?
Also this did happened day before yesterday.
- is the air filter dirty?
- is the carburettor air screw setting correct?
- is the spark plug dirty?
- is the spark plug gap correct?
- is the spark produced strong?
If there's a problem with the spark plug, high tension lead or ignition coil, you should notice starting trouble, poor response, poor acceleration and throttle response or poor mileage. It could be just one or a combination.
If you have experienced any of the above problems, start by checking the list.

@swas : are those soft compound????
you can get a crash guard on fazer...the SVC guys are saying crap...Originally posted by perestroika View Post- went to yamaha showroom in wakdewadi, pune yesterday and they confirmed that if i can get the 'maintenance free' R15 battery from an amco showroom, then it would be possible for them to get both the lights of my fazer working
- Also, they mentioned that i would not get a crash guard installed on my bike since fazer doesnt have that facility... any info on that guys??
Also i had mentioned a couple pages back about fazer's headlight thing....
get a hold of 5Ah maintenance free battery....not the R15 one...
it would do no good....
can u post the phone number of the service centre of wakdewadi....
i will get in touch with them.....and sort it out for good....
cheers....

I had a look at the tyres seen in the pics on Pirelli's website. It's a sport touring tyre called the Sport Demon. It's a cross ply tyre whereas the OEM MRF rear is a radial tyre. Is it possible that an MRF radial is better than a Pirelli cross ply?Originally posted by RanjithMN View Postthe shop guy told it is....

Notty boy i have changed the setting from SVC. Its like in low beam one light & in high beam both the lights will be on ..... It'll not void ur battery also as u r doing it in the Yamaha svc.Originally posted by perestroika View Post@nottyboy - im not sure that keeping the switch "in between" the two sides is a permanent solution. it works as long as the switch is new and there are no jerks while riding but as i said, its a temporary solution.

Hi dude,Originally posted by k2cool_87 View PostCould be...do u feel a abrasion while shifting gears??? like moving in from 1 to second or hitting false neutral and stuff like that??? dunno the average kms that a plate lasts but should be round 15k kms or so..i think...
Since you said this, I noticed on my ride that my gears do mis-hit neutral while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.
Is this coz of the clutch plate? Also, the top speed has surely dipped a lot now. I've tested 4 times on the same highway on which I was getting 120+ speeds 4 months ago, and now I'm just getting 100+

I've a new spark plug, chain sprocket, brake pads, rear tire rim. I don't know which one of the rest hits the performance. Also my bike has run 14k+
Does installing an Iridium plug has any effect? Should I also change my air filter to re-evaluate the top end performance?

this mis-hit in the gears might not only be the plate...the gear box has a spring which might require some re-adjustment....Originally posted by ayushkant View PostHi dude,

as regards to the plug or air filter i have no knowledge...some one who actual has experience in this should answer those queries.....sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.
To ride or not to ride?? is a....
very very stupid question....

I'll be going to my SVC this fri-sat. But I really don't know what should I say to them to look at?Originally posted by k2cool_87 View Postthis mis-hit in the gears might not only be the plate...the gear box has a spring which might require some re-adjustment....

I think I'll go for a mini-checkup and ask them the reason for the top end performance hit. I don't want them to do any changes in the carb. Let's see what they come up with.
