No dude thats not true. I got my rear tyre replaced at 15K Kms. I was really frustrated of punctures and took my bike and went straight to MRF regional office in Mumbai. I showed them the condition of the tyre and got it replaced the next week for just 600 Rs.

I got a brand new tyre at an amazing price and was really happy.

@dibya1712: Just go the MRF regional office in your area and show the condition of your tyre to the customer complaints person. Ask them for replacement. Talk to them in a bit of (I am really frustrated) manner & they will surely give you a new one.

      Projector+ angel eye - 2650rs
This includes labor too. First he asked for Rs.3500. I added that my friend needs the same kit for his ZMR. We started bargaining and we brought it to the price of 6600rs for both the bikes.

You should get warranty coverage, check with SVC. Seems manufacturing defect but since it is on the surface I'm not sure, did you hit any massive potholes?. I saw it on my brother's Ford Fiesta few days before & he replaced the tyres.
Refer this also check on google.

          I have a few Qs:
          a. Some owners of FZ wrote about how their fuel tank caps were getting stolen and there was a discussion about a special "master" cap from Yamaha. Is this available?
          b. Are crash guards available as OEM from Yamaha stores?
          c. Seeing that the FZ-S's visor has purely cosmetic appeal, how difficult is it to install a number plate over the visor? I am concerned about the hassle of fitting this to an FZ-16.
          d. I happened to go to a Yamaha spares stores, and was mildly amused by the number of 'trinkets' on sale - coloured brake/clutch levers, bar ends etc. Are these listed on Yamaha's site?
          e. Has anyone ordered the large petal disc at front? I have been told it costs 17,000. Is it worth the cost?
          f. Any precautions to be observed for the rear rims?

I am impressed with Yamaha's support for their bikes. Someone came in today and ordered a performance kit for the RX.

a> someone with more experience will be able to help you out.. i do not have any idea about the master tank cap
b> Yamaha svc does sell the crash guards costs around 500 and they hv been quite useful for me as i have suffered two minor crashes yet not effect on the tank.
c> It is not difficult to mount the numberplate on the visor though it spoils the look of the visor... you can do it urself on the bike!!
d> Yes the "trinkets" again they are cosmetic upgrades available for FZ and R15.. and there is a pdf yamaha have on their website.. i have downloaded it but couldn't find the actual link for you.. But they are quite costly and there are cheaper stuff available but the quality may matter
e> The front petal disc is that costly as they are made by daytona for specific racing purpose.. but I suppose the stock disc plate are enough for city riding and touring.. those huge ones will be usefull after the complete racing upgrades by Daytona and when you are ready to hit the Race track with your baby!!

I hope I have covered the most I could.. if I am wrong at any place plz correct me guyz.. i ll appreciate it..

ans:never faced this issue or heard about it before!! most common phenomenon here in mumbai is the rear yamaha logo being chipped off by miscreants. costs only 17-20 bucks for the replacement logo though.
              b. Are crash guards available as OEM from Yamaha stores?
ans: crash guards are available from the showroom costs around 600-700 rupees.
              c. Seeing that the FZ-S's visor has purely cosmetic appeal, how difficult is it to install a number plate over the visor? I am concerned about the hassle of fitting this to an FZ-16.
ans: i am not too sure about this but shouldn't be a problem fitting it. However, i don't see the point of putting it, the fz looks better without it!
              d. I happened to go to a Yamaha spares stores, and was mildly amused by the number of 'trinkets' on sale - coloured brake/clutch levers, bar ends etc. Are these listed on Yamaha's site?
ans: yes they are listed on the yamaha site. Apparels & Accessories | India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.
              e. Has anyone ordered the large petal disc at front? I have been told it costs 17,000. Is it worth the cost?
ans: people have ordered it, but i frankly don't see the point of having it. the stock brakes are more than enough to meet all your needs. Rather go for joel mods(www.raceconcepts.in) if you wish to enhance the performance of your bike and the FE as well by an insane margin.
              f. Any precautions to be observed for the rear rims?
ans: I guess slowing down when approaching pot hole ridden roads would be a wise idea. a lot of fellow mates have experienced rear rim being bent on their respective bikes. check the tire pressure once a week atleast as in gas stations it is completely free. will increase the tire life and also help in maintaining FE and helps on preventing rim bending by a great margin.
I am impressed with Yamaha's support for their bikes. Someone came in today and ordered a performance kit for the RX.

              all answered above buddy.

              cheers

                  • If the tyres have sufficient pressure, impact will not be transferred to the rims on hitting potholes even at high speeds.
Higher possibility is of front shockers getting damaged if you are getting into a pothole with the brakes jammed-the suspension will already be compressed&the cone will take a hit. I have experienced this&got repairs also done on my older bike.
So, brake&reduce speed before the pothole/speedbreaker. Once over it, release the brakes&allow the suspension to do its job.
In case you are not able to reduce speed to the required extent or notice a speedbreaker/pothole out of nowhere, lift your butt off the seat a couple of inches by standing on the footpegs. Do not leave the handle loose while doing this though. This will reduce the weight on the saddle, once again preventing damage to shockers/rims.

                    • hey guys , was in for a shocker today ... went out to give my mom's activa for servicing ( i was riding the FZ ) and i noticed that the engine sound had changed ... thought it was because of the first morning run , but it didn't settle down even by the evening run ... checked the engine oil and it was below minimum mark ... , I put in the oil at 10300km now I am at 14575km ... oil used was Agip FS ... my last stint was from 5729km to 10300km ... pretty consistent interval , i just seem to have missed it ...

could i have damaged anything too badly ?

untill and unless you are getting some smoke fumes from the exhaust i dont think there is anything that could have been damaged..... but yeah you were saved from an engine seizure for sure....

but my concern is that , the last time i changed it , there was no drop in level at all ... it filled up the oil can to the brim ... but now it has dropped below minimum level , so am i missing something here ?

chk if the bolt was secured properly after the refill or the oil might have been leaking from the dip stick nut..... chk your oil level after every 2-3 days to see if it is getting down again.... if it is and if the bike is giving out white or black fumes means you have some seriously trouble as the oil might be entering the combustion chamber. you can also check the status of the combustion through the colour of the spark plug....

if there are no fumes and the oil level is going down the oil might be leakng from some place else like the drain bolt or the dip stick screw....

OK thanks bro , will check it out . No fumes from the exhaust , the bike was performing brilliantly up until yesterday , and never showed any signs of an oil leak which is what caught me off-guard ...

Also , Since two years are up , Is it time to change the brake fluid ? I read on Xbhp that DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid should be changed at two year intervals ? anyone help me out here ...

another issue i'm having is that my rear tyre is wearing out on one side , i.e the right side is wearing out quick ( less than 1mm tread left) whereas the left side and centre tread is almost pristine ( full 2mm tread still present ) ... I have more left turns than right in my route and another confusing situation as to only one side wear .

i go the american way when i have to change stuff " dont fix it if it aint broke"

the asymmetrical wear and tear is normally due to misallignement... another thing that used to happen in my mothers scooty was that the tyre was scrubbing of something from the inside... do check for any stuck debries or pieces of tar that might be doing it....
