I need help with the problem I am facing with my bike. My rear wheel rim gets very hot. I got this bike around 2 years ago.i thought it was normal until I rode 3 yamaha fz bikes owned by my friends. They were not facing the same issue. I showed it to atleast 3 to 4 different authorised service centers. All they had to say was I was riding bike with my foot on the brakes. I thought maybe I dont ride well. Hence kept an eye to ensure that I was not braking hard or unnecessary. I was still facing the same issue. Hence I showed to different local mechanics. None of them knew why it was happening. Finally I decided to officially complaint to yamaha. I emailed them and after 20 days I got a reply. I went to vasai service center as I was told it was a good service center. I showed , y bike and told about the problem. After wasting my 3 hours and giving me lot of excuses they tried a different wheel on my bike. I rode a bit and same issue persisted. I rode different yamaha fazer but that bike had the same issue. I just want to know if this is a problem with everyone who owns a similar bike or it is just normal and I should ignore. Just to reiterate, the rim gets very hot. I would be grateful if someone can help me...
        Thanks,
        Jerome.
Check the brake shoe ....if its worn out
Change it and also check the free play of it

150 cc MPFi engine for FZ to be introduced in 2014. There would be a price bump on about 2-4k. Should Yamaha really be focusing on FZ right now after the launch of KTM 390? I think they should work on bringing something of the similar segment(390) on a lower price tag. Your thoughts?

Could you guys please guide me if it is a good idea to do so?

If yes, please suggest me where can I get RVM? (somebody told me that SVC guys wont sell just RVM if I don't own a bike of their brand. Not sure if that's true though)
The Duke's RVMs look good on the FZS. But I guess they are pretty pricey. I think I read somewhere on this thread that they cost more than 1k INR.

            Cheers!!

I have changed the brake shoe several times but same issue. Also the wheel play is smooth.

Check for the brake shoe spring. Incase it is faulty or broken, the shoe will rub against rim even if you dont apply the brakes. Also, check for any damage to the exhaust (very rare chance). Under normal usage of rear brake, the rim does heat up. This is normal for all automobiles.

1250 for RVM . Looks like you are mistaken. They cannot be so costly. One of my friend told me its Rs. 225. Other xbhpian who have fitted them, had told about 365 or 425 (dont remember the exact figure).

INMO stock does better work than Duke's. Think before changing. INMO you should be more concern on it's use and satisfaction than it's looks.
FZ's RVM are one of the best!
