This causes massive stress on the drivetrain (gearbox, chain etc) and doing this frequently will definitely damage the engine and drivetrain.

This is what was happening in my case.

    Hope that helps

Thanks Arijit - it really helped. I was worried.

Hello guys, I'm going to give my bike for the 1st free service this saturday. Before that, I have a quite a few problems, so if you can share light on it, I can ask the SVC on saturday.

      1) I have already mentioned this here before. I get a metallic tick sound both while riding and after stopping. Few people said its normal. And the engine becomes hot like we can't even keep a finger for a micro second.

      2) Today I accidentally didnt slow up to a big speed breaker because of which i heard a 'thud'. There's a tube like thingy (what's that for ? ), i guess it got hit. Would it have broken? Maximum what damage it could have taken?

      3) These days, sometimes when i start the bike, the bike gives a sound like a balloon burst (and turns off few times). Any ideas??

I request you guys to help this rookie biker

        1) I have already mentioned this here before. I get a metallic tick sound both while riding and after stopping. Few people said its normal. And the engine becomes hot like we can't even keep a finger for a micro second. - Its not an issue..relax...even SVC guys will say the same.

        2) Today I accidentally didnt slow up to a big speed breaker because of which i heard a 'thud'. There's a tube like thingy (what's that for ? ), i guess it got hit. Would it have broken? Maximum what damage it could have taken? - Does the tube like thingy has circular head??? "we can hook something into it" sort of. I think you are referring to the protection rod below the belly of engine. even m not sure it does anything apart from protecting engine. Usually when ppl run over speed-breakers they brush the lower portion of engine side. Don't worry the engine is nicely protected and the thingy combined with main stand center rod takes most of THUDs and SCRUBs. Just check for any puncture or leakage to the CATCON or exhaust pipe. Best option : consult the SVC guy about this scenario he'll do the checking part.

        3) These days, sometimes when i start the bike, the bike gives a sound like a balloon burst (and turns off few times). Any ideas?? - Probably you are running lean mixture. Ask the SVC guy about the popping sound. he'll check it for sure....

Me to changed the stock bulb with 55/60 Watt Philips Premium worth 110 INR.
The results are good but I noticed that the Halogen is not working to its full strength..
I am thinking to replace the front parking light (10 Watt I guess) and tail lights (10-20 watts approx) with some local LEDs as I cant afford yamaha original LEDs (500+1200 INR).

Keep us posted about your results.

Does any one knows where can I get cheap / local LEDs for front parking light and back break / tail light in PUNE?

                      How much will it cost?

Is it direct plug and play?

How much watt will it consume?

                        One more question:
Is there any adverse effect of this tyre on the rim since the rim is suposed to support 140/60 tyre?

I have seen many riders using 120/80 tyre. Apparently it seems ok. The only thing you have to take care is while negotiating potholes. The rim may crack or bend with a 120/80 tyre. Ride may get slightly bumpy too.
Better go for Dunlop 140/70 tyre or ceat 130/70

This happens to me also....especially when I start after more than 2- 3 days. But as soon as the engine gets hotter, this 'misfiring' kind of thing vanishes. Dont know the reason though!!!

It surely does. I have installed spare bulb of my car. You can actually notice the throw of light on the road, as compared to the puny stock bulb.

It does happen in my bike. I guess during winter it does, the reason maybe because of the dense atmospheric air. As senior and experienced member shv18 has stated few pages back, the popping sound is because of the unburnt fuel that passes thru the exhaust and when it comes in contact with the atmospheric air, it produces a popping sound.

                            Hi All,

I own a FZS 2010 model and it has done 18000 kms as on date

I have sent the vehicle for servicing in Ambla Motors Chennai yesterday and the SVC called me up today and told they want my approval to change the following

                            Chain sprocket - 2000 rupees
                            Clutch assembly- 3000 rupees
                            handle bar change-300
                            4 indicators change- 600
                            headlight assembly change- 1200
                            clutch cable accelerator cable change
general service with oil change- 1000 rupees
                            spark plug and airfilter change

Also i requested them to change the entire color kit to the new fz16 back

They told me it will cost 8000 for changing the entire color kit to FZ16 new 2013 model type

I told ok then he again told me they dont have spares for the body kit and they have to order for that and it will come in 1 week and including labor it will be 9000 rupess

I just want the experts here to answer me if the price they quote for all the above is correct and the SVC is not cheating me

Also if you have any idea if we can get the body kits cheaper anywhere else.?
                            Kindly advise

                            VJ
