  • Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S

I was planning to buy a CBR250, but due to some financial constraints, I have to look at a lower priced bike in the 150 cc range. I've zeroed in on the FZ-S as to me it looks like the only bike in that segment that has character rather than being a plain-Jane commuter.

Who is the best dealer to buy this from in the HSR-Koramangala area of Bangalore? Any other after-sales/service issues I should be aware of?

Its better not to mix them. Instead change your oil now. While getting your bike serviced, you can ask the SVC ppl not to change the engine oil.
Best not to ride when oil is low.

Orion Motors opposite to Forum Mall in Kormangala.
Also I think there is a new Yamaha showroom opened up on Outer ring road between Agara and Iblur. Just remember seeing it but didnt find any mention on the Yamaha website.

          Cheers!!

Yes that's right. So get the oil filter from the SVC and change your oil. Actually you don't even have to go to the SVC. You will get the filter from the spares shop at the showroom. Then during service ask them not to change the oil or the filter. They will not do it if you ask them not to.

I have a 2012 Yamaha Fazer. it has clocked about 16,xxx kms. I have changed the following things till date-
            1. spark plug- added NGK Iridium spark plugs with a spit fire cable. (at 13k kms)
            2.air filter-stock itself. (at 14k kms)
3.rear tyre- upgraded to dunlop tuff grip 140/70-17 (at 16k kms)
now unfortunately the chain started making a lot of noise. When shown to a reliable Yamaha-SVC in my area (Suvarnrekha yamaha, karvenagar) they did some chain setting and the sound stopped. But again after 100-150kms the sound started again. After showing them again they told me to change the rear sprocket. so now as it was monsoon he did the setting and told me to come after monsoon. So i will be changing the sprocket in September. The ODO mostly would stand around 18.5k kms.
Now i want to increase the acceleration of the bike, which basically involves a rear large sprocket. After checking with the SVC they said it cant be done. I am very confused. Recently a friend told about the Daytona sprockets. so i have the following querries-
1.Has any one done the thing i am planning to? With larger rear sprockets? If yes how and what did you tell the service advisor? (any mechs in pune?)
2.What would be the ideal cost of the whole thing? if i change the rear sprocket is it necessary to change the front sprockets too?
3.What would be the cost of the dayton sprockets? are there any harmful effects of installing them?
            Thanks a lot!
            Query Approved and Merged

Planning to get a mudguard extension mod on my ride. Any suggestions other than the guard near the engine of commuter bikes? Help would be highly appreciated.

I don't know much what can be done..butbyou can try the engine guard of old gen apache.. That said to be a relayively easy fit with min alterations..

and as for extra rear mud-guard, you can use Dukes wheel guard.. And that would also need minimum alteration with fitting..

I dont want the belly pan. The water splashes on to the engine, thereby forming rust on the header pipe. In order to stop that,i am planning to do something to extend the mudguard so that less water is splashed from the tyre.
                  Duke's wheel guard..what is that?

                      Friends,
My Fazers front suspension has been feeling unusually soft recently. I was thinking this might be cos my tire is losing pressure but turns out that's not the case. It looks like the suspension itself is soft. Is it possible that the fork oil may be the reason for the soft suspension? Do bumpy roads cause this? Because I'm noticing it only recently after monsoon. And Bangalore has a habit of gifting it's citizens some very well designed off-roading tracks every monsoon.

My bike is just over a year old and it has completed 8.5k on the odo.

                        Yo FZ riders!

I was planning to buy Karizma R grey color.. with downpayment of 50k from my savings.. and the remaining amount on loan..

But i dont like the loan system whatsoever... but still made a move.. as i have a bank loan runnning because of which my plan for a bike was postponed.

Now my dad agreed to give me 20k extra for the bike so that my emi figure goes down..

So now thinking of adding just more 10k from my pocket and buying an FZ.. by full payment.. as it was my second choice after Karizma R..

Just need to know what are the positives and negatives of FZ over the ZMA..

I shortlisted ZMA for it long life engine.. and exceptional touring ability..

As i wont be looking for any modifications for at least 2years or bike change for at least 5-6years..

And bike trips would be hardly once or twice in 2-3 months.. so not in much need of that..

My office is just 1.5kms from my house..
I go to my office daily walking..

Maximum travelling in a day would be 30kms..

Better thinking to do the payment in full and get my hands on it..

Should i stay with the already booked Karizma R or go for FZ?

                        Suggestions and thoughts welcome..

                        Please help..

The thing here is that.. Karizma is way more comfortable than Fz.. But as per your requirements, you would not do much touring and long trips, Fz would be suitable for you.. And also you would be free from the headace of loans and all..
fz is an awesome city ride.. Resonable fuel economy, good acceleration and looks are better than most 150cc bikes.. The stance is also upright, which is good..
go for it.. Don't worry.. In nearly 2 years of ownership, i haven't faced any serious problem..
the main point is that you would own it right away and Fz is by no means a small bike..
