Just make sure that you warm up your bike properly after a 5 day gap and then hit the highway. Mineral oil would do the job easily for your kind of riding.
Just keep the change intervel in mind, even if the bike has not clocked the relevant kilometres, change the oil every 6 months or 1500kms.

I ride it sanely for first 3-4 kms and then hit the highway. Is it fine? And about the oil change interval, I try to change it in every 4 months, even though it covers around 1000 kms only during that span of time, but for that also I'm little worried as the service manual says to stick to an interval of 2 months.

Whatever you are doing is just fine. Need not worry about 2 month interval. Just that even though you ride the initial few kms slow just ensure that when you start the bike warm it up for a min or two without starting to ride it. It is always advisable.

            Hi guys!

My 4 yr old FZ 16 has clocked 25k. Got to change the rear tyre now. Already have put tube inside the front one, as it was leaking.

Can you advise a good one? Can't spend a fortune, and need long air retention. I am getting mileage of 35 at present.

                Thanks!

My problem with stock tyres was air retention. Need refills every week. The front tyre, after inserting a tube, keeps air for 3 weeks. My activa goes a month without refill.

Do you suggest stock tyre with tube? Or would other tubeless provide better retention?

i think there might be some problem with the rim itself.. i don't refill for months and they are still only a couple of units down..
apart from the stock, try Dunlop.. i don't know exactly what other option are there.. other riders might be able to guide you better..
try posting this query in the tyres thread.. there you might get better options..

                  Ride safe and have fun.

ya. i recently changed the rear tyre.. couple of months back.. since then have refilled just twice.. and at those time also the pressure was only a couple of units down..
sometimes there are minute punchers in the tyre with leak the air..
                      check for them..

                      Ride safe and have fun.

                          Reposting this again -
I myself had a very hard time searching for options after the repeated puncture problem of the stock tyre on my Fazer. So i replaced the stock with a MRF 130/70 17 nylon tyre initially, but then the bike stability was affected and it became more prone to fishing when braking hard. Again, tried searching for more options - Pirelli is banned as its not ISI, did not like contigos as again they are medium compound tyres. Hence the choice left was the Dunlop 140/70 17 tyre which i felt was the best fit and the best choice. Have travelled close to 3000 kms on the Dunlop and i feel its more better than the stock. Great grip on dry tarmac and even on wet tarmac too, as i have been riding in the torrential Mumbai rains. So from my own experience, i would suggest all the fellow bikers looking for rear tyre options to go for the Dunlop. Costed me around 2800 with fitting in mumbai. Also never go for a lower size like 130 or 120. Stick with a 140 even if u like some other brand. Hope it helps and if any more questions, feel free to ask. Cheers.

Is it ok if the front one is stock and old? Also, should I get the rim repainted?

Well i am still with my front stock tyre inspite of 2 punctures to it, and i think it should last me another 6-8k km. I am currently 18k on the odometer and bike almost 3 yrs old. Imho, i find the front stock tyre to be good enough. Rest it also depends on your tyre and rim condition, better if you can get your rim checked. And since you are 25k on odo, i suggest that u change the front to stock and rear to dunlop. I might be doin the same for the front when i reach 25k. Let me know if anything more.
