And no you don't have to replace your spark plug. Just make sure the plug gap is correct...

na, the plug is fine.. make them check the gap and its good to go.. i don't know if the plug needs to be cleaned or not ?
usually the plug needs to be changed at 12k..
Thanks for the help. Since the bike would stop if i dont throttle it, I also thought the same regarding blockage in the inlet port. But, my bad, i could not open the screws for Air Filter box. Looking at the feedbacks, I guess i need to visit the SVC and check for Air Filter first. Any signs to look for which can show that the Air Filter is damaged or has to be replaced?

How much should be the plug gap?

    Cheerz!!

air filter also has to changed at 12k.. atleast thats what i did..
the air filter has paper linings.. which could be easily damaged with water.. and they should be more or less parallel to each other..
umm. about the plug gap.. don't know.. maybe around .8mm.. see with other members..

@shv18.. Your views on the plug condition.

Kindly highlight what has to be checked and done?

Is it me or i see some oil fouling on the spark plug. i Cannot be sure as the images of the spark plug are not very clear. looks like richer tuning. Replace the spark plug with a new one. Use the CO meter at the SVC and see what readings you are getting.. My guess is the device will show richer setting. Also it would be a good idea to give your ride System G or System 23 treatment and see. It would be a good idea to inspect the airbox and the rubber pipe as well for possible leakage. You are nearing the 12k service interval, so replace the spark plug, new engine oil and oil filter, Air filter as well.

        Cheers,

Yesterday i had sensed some weird smell, i dont know what smell it was.Somehow, the Motul oil which was put some 500kms back is not working good for me. Oil filter has been changed on every service.

How is the System G or System 23 to be used? Some help on this please.

Below is the condition of the Air Filter. Time to change or can i continue using it?

its like strong burning smell around the bike which remains for about 5-10 min after the ride.. And vanishes as soon as the engine cools down ?? Right ??
i'm having the exact same problem

for the air filter, i think its time to change it.. The rows should be parallel to each other and not like in the pic..
              System G.. @shv18 please elobrate..

Guys, started practising "rev-match" downshift technique , seems better than slowly letting out the clutch during downshifts, as you guys know this technique produces some "puff" like sound (which is good ), but does this technique have any adverse effects on the Engine etc? does the geneal wear and tear is increased? especially for FZ ?

Hey Bikers.. as i am into a lot of touring during rains on my Fazer, i realised that an inbuilt clock on the instrument console would have served good as i frequently need to know the time, but alas its absent on the fz series and hence i decided it was time to get the time fixed somewhere on my bike.
Attaching below is the detachable cyclometer that i found after a lot of research and now i finally have the time on the handlebar.

PS - some bikers will think that wearing a waterproof watch will solve the purpose, but it does get difficult sometimes to pull back the jacket and does take away attention. Moreover it was my own craze to get it fixed somewhere on the bike. Any questions, feel free to ask and let me know how you guys find it.

Have run 10000kms till now,now is the time to change air filter.why would u change filter so often? Oil filter needs to be changed, not air filter. After seeing the pic, it can be said that the filter is in virgin condition.
Buy 2 small sachets of System G/23...costs Rs.5 each, instructions are written behind it.

                      some light on this..
SYSTEM G has detergent like property to clean the fuel line including nozzles and some part of carb i guess.

Its used to avoid opening of carb and clean. It wont give u that much effect when u open up carb and clean.

but nonetheless its a wonderful product which does what it says...

like engine smoothness, increased acceleration, reduced jerking when u ride in lower speeds in high gear, nd i personally was able to start my bike with single press of starter button without throttling which was not the case earlier. no change found in mileage though.

to be used every 5k Kms..... 1ml per 1lt

cap has got measurement. preferred to use in tankful of petrol.
before the next fill of petrol open the drain screw and let out the dirt and some petrol accumulated in carb

Replaced the Spark Plug with a new one and she grunts the way she use to . SVC guy said that the Air Filter is proper and there is no need to replace it. Let me see how the bike behaves with new Plug.

Can somebody highlight what would be the cause for Spark Plug to go kaput?

guys, what might be the cause of overheating..?
for the last 4-5 days its behaving like this.. for the first couple of days, there was very strong burning smell along with the heating, but from yesterday the smell is gone but the heating has increased.. so much the my legs heat up through the jeans today i could feel the heat from 2 feet away after a 10 km ride and while coming back, had to stop for a few minutes to let it cool down as it was making my legs very uncomfortable..
                          never faced this problem before..

                          Ride safe and have fun.

I use to face this issue recently. After changing the Spark Plug, the issue has been resolved. So, i would suggest you to check the Spark Plug & Air Filter condition.

the air filter is good, only 8k with this one and looks good to the eyes..
as for spark plug.. will change it.. and see if the problem still persists..

for the last 2-3k kms, the bike is giving a lot of problems.. she used to be gem think getting her a proper servicing with continuous personal supervision is required..
also i'm just short 6km of 20,000kms on the ride.. take these little problems out, she's been real good..

Edit: from what i could read of the spark plug, the AFR seems to be just about normal.. with little brownish tint on the insulator and some dark on the ring.. will buy a new one and see if the problem is with the plug or not..

Told you!! You just had a lemon. Spark plugs last 50K easily.
Though, for optimum performance manuals list down suitable replacement frequency.
Plugs pass a good quality tests before getting release in the market. There can just be a connection issue and rust may have got developed in the connecting wire and the plug may be as good as new. Also, while removing or re-inserting the plug last time, the insulator could have got damaged.. who knows. Its a 170 odd rs equipment. Leave it!

Wrong grade of engine oil or very low engine oil level are first on the list.
Poor oil circulation/Oil pump issue is a serious problem if it is present.
Dying clutch could be another reason.
