Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
All you told is absolutely true but both bike have more seat height...and I'm a kind of short guy...Originally posted by nadz11.ns View Postthe best would be to buy a hunk or a pulsar.. both will give you a mileage of 45+ km/L where as FZ is oil gulping monster..
buy one of these.. the power output is also good in them and the mileage won't be a bother..

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Considering your height and fuel-mileage requirements plus the fact that your parents would be paying for it ( I take it that you are a student ) - buy an Hero HF dawn ( spoke-kick-drum version too ) . It shall take care of all your transportation needs and is simple to ride and economical to maintain . Later on in life when you earn , buy the bigger bikes you like . There is much wisdom in this pathOriginally posted by abhi7395 View PostAll you told is absolutely true but both bike have more seat height...and I'm a kind of short guy...

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
did my post went down the lane without being notice?
Anyway posting it again
I'm nearing 5000 Km on ODO (4920) and my bike is due its 4th servicing in 15 days.
Currently there are no problems with the bike, but I wanted to change the engine oil to Fully Synthetic.
The bike got 3 oil changes (4 new oils in total) all Yamaha Lube Mineral Oil.
I frequently touch 80's on the bike, and I am currently not very happy with the gear shifts smoothness (might be a rider thing though)
So is Motul FS going to better my overall experience? WHat is the price and exact model no: and is it available in most Yamaha Service centers? or Should I buy it myself and hand it over to them.
Thanks in advance guys

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Now its upto you.. Either go for SS or FS.. In fz, SS is quite efficient.. Way better than mineral..Originally posted by smilingbharat View Postdid my post went down the lane without being notice?

for SS, you can either opt for Yamalube SS (which they use in r15), as for FS, you can use Motul 7100.. Yamalube SS is for 450rs i think.. And motul 7100 is around 750rs.. Don't know the exact price..
FS you have to buy ourself from the market..
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
@All: I got an LED tail lamp panel fixed into my R15 V1's tail lamp.
This is made by a student in Mumbai, hand made painstakingly and direct fit for R15 and FZ.
Please get in touch with me for his no.
I'm posting here, since the Accessories thread has hardly any hits.
Please consider for your FZs and recommend to other R15 V1&FZ owners. I would feel happy if you encourage this student.
P.S. It's very affordable!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If your monthly kms are on the higher side, then go for FS oil. FS oils are way costly than Mineral/SS oils. SS oils does the trick easily and is easy on the pocket.Originally posted by smilingbharat View Postdid my post went down the lane without being notice?

My experience with the R15(15W50) oil was not good, i used to face too much of gear shift problems, engine heat. Not a worthy oil. Best is to go for Gulf, Veedol, Motul.
Cheerz!!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I would suggest a semi synthetic oil. Even before that, please recollect what is mentioned your manual. If it is mineral oil, then mineral it is! Please do not go against manufacturer's recommendations. Besides changing mineral oil every 2000kms or 2500kms and keeping your engine filled with almost new engine oil, it also turns out to be economical and more natural.Originally posted by smilingbharat View Postdid my post went down the lane without being notice?

But looks like you have already made up your mind to switch to FS oil and hence the unhappiness with gear shifting and smoothness
. If so please go ahead.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Some of motomax's polishes contains abrasives ( fine emery ) . Check if anything about abrasive is mentioned on your pack . If so , change to a wax-only polish like waxpol , or their liquid silicone polish ( really a lot easier to do
) .

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
there isn't any mention about abrasives.. just 'contains petroleum distillates' and 'carnauba wax'Originally posted by Pinaki View PostSome of motomax's polishes contains abrasives ( fine emery ) . Re: Yamaha Fazer Headlight Upgrade ! Kindly Advise....
Query Approved and MergedOriginally posted by rac_devil View PostHi ! I just purchased a Yamaha Fazer 3 months ago. I am extremely unsatisfied with the stock headlight illumination at night, even after getting focus adjustment. As both the headlights cannot be switched on simultaneously as it would lead to battery issues. I was thinking of upgrading 35w stock halogens with 35w Philips Xtremevision or 35w Osram Nightbreaker. Where can I find the above mentioned bulbs in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai? How to improve lighting without doing any changes to the internal wiring?

Query Approved and MergedOriginally posted by gvamsikris View PostHi All,
I am new to XBHP, I have Yamaha Fazer 150 which is almost 4 years old. I intended to upgrade some of its components, I need your expertise on finding the right products.
First and foremost its time to change tyres
1 Tyres
Are stock tyres of fazer /fz16 are highly prone to punctures and do not provide good grip in wet conditions. But there aren't any other options available in 140/70 R17 tyres. So is it ok to go for 140/70 R17 tyres from other manufacturers what are the advantages and disadvantages of 140/70 over 140/60 tyres. Please suggest me a stable pair of Tyres. I occasionally go for touring and every day city commuting is around 25 kms on average. I stay in Bangalore so roads are not guaranteed of their condition.
2 Spark Plug and Air filter
When I have asked in the Panache Yamaha Show room, they said they will not install K&N air filter and Iridium spark plug as they are not standard. Are they are any issues by installing these. If they are no complaints or issues with installing them, Please let me know where can I get K&N air filter installed in Bangalore.
Shall I go with NGK or Bosch or iridium spark plugs and where can I get them in Bangalore.
3 Battery
One reason I wanted to upgrade battery is I wanted to install projectors as lamps. So Battery up-gradation is not necessary, but If there is an really awesome battery available for Fazer I would really like to change to.
4. Head Lamps
Another problem I am facing is night driving, I have calibrated my head lamps good enough but still I am not very comfortable driving at night. So please suggest me powerful and stable lamps set for Fazer 150. I am interested in installing projectors but afraid that it will drain the battery since my bike has no kick rod.
Are there any other upgrades necessary for a bike which is 4 years old
. I am open for suggestions.
Thanks for your valuable time
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
