Very much. Somehow the chain cleaning will be an issue with the attachment there. What's the logic by keeping it?

    Cheerz!!

Its there to prevent dust, grime and especially mud and water from splashing up on the chain. And also prevents clothes and belongings from getting stuck in the chain. Our bikes have open chains, so these things are always a concern.

Why do you think it causes an issue while cleaning the chain?

I clean my chain regularly and I never feel the guards are an issue. There is enough exposed area at the end of the swing-arm to clean the chain.

      Cheers!!

guys, can we use the spanners & likes that come with FZ for tightening the chain in case of slackiness. The other day, I was trying the same but in vain. The DIY available in xBhp shows O ring in P220, I was planning for the same but didn't work!

What i meant is, in the old gen bikes which are without cover, it is very easy to clean the chain. But, with the slight covering, cleaning might be issue (personal view).

The tool kit which i have does not have spanner to open the big nuts. I can only open the small nuts with. You can buy a spanner of that size incase you want to tighten the chain yourself.

as i had earlier posted about some over-heating.. visited SVC and told the mech. about this.. he took a small ride and told me that nothing is wrong.. the heating is due to the reason that the engine parts are covered with mud and this hinders the natural cooling of the engine.. also as for the foul burning smell, he said the mud on the exhaust pipe near the engine gets baked and this causes the smell..
guys is this reason valid ? as there is no performance loss/ degradation of what-so-ever..

My bike's battery is completely discharged. Tried the "Push Start" method but it still won't start. The battery guy told me to remove it and bring it to him (for charging). Is there any tutorial for removing Fazer's battery? Didn't find anything on Google and YouTube.

                P.S - I am a n00b.

Its possible. And he is right about the foul smell. If you might have noticed, the foul smell must be becoming more apparent only during the rainy season right? Or on a new bike only. On a new bike, its the new paint thats burning and during the rains its the mud and grime that gets burnt. Thats the reason for the smell. Clean it up and it should be fine.

                      Don't electrocute yourself!!

On a more serious note... make sure you dont inadvertently short out the battery terminals while removing it or the battery might get too fried to be even charged back up.

Why dont you just take the bike to the mechanic and he can take it out himself. If your bike is not starting at all try jump-starting it or kick-start if you have a kick-starter.

                      Cheers!!

Well, off lately even i am experiencing good amount of heat from the engine. I guess, since the ambient conditions are not that high, we are bound to face the heat from the engine. What engine oil are you using?

Also, the mud splash will get accumulated on the lower part of exhaust and this might give you burning smell. Try to remove the mud by hand. Since the firing of bike is fine, i dont think there is any issue with the engine.

maybe we are worrying too much about the bikes..

i'm currently using Yamalube SS (which is meant for R15).. service is due in a week or so, will change to motul 7100 then..

How do I avoid shorting the battery terminals?

I tried to push-start several times; even tried it on a slope but it won't start.
Also, my bike didn't come with a kick-starter.

The mechanic wants me to take out the battery and hand over to him. I can't push a 140+kg bike for 3km to take it to the battery shop.

Open the right side panel and take out the battery. Travel 3km without the bike. Its easy!

If it is not starting even when you are trying to push start the bike.. something wrong there. Has someone stolen the sparkplug from your bike?

I started my bike after a month and it started with first crank + choke.

The bike was not in a good shape. Infested with lovely creatures like spiders and others.. as shown in the pics.

They were protecting the bike from prying eyes while I enjoy the holidays .

My biking is quite reduced these days. If anyone living in Hyderabad want to offer a price for it.. He is welcome.
