Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
No it's very much necessary. Do you not lubricate the chain yourself? In that case its highly advisable to start now!Originally posted by i91 View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Use Motul Chain Cleaner to clean the chain and lube it with EP 90 Gear Oil. Interval should be 400-500kms. During rains, do it at 200-250kms interval.Originally posted by i91 View PostIm a total noob, actually.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Is there noticeable difference in mileage between fz16(2009) model and fzs(recent model)?
Service center guy adviced me to go for sell fz16 and go for new one.
He said new fzs has double wired carburator which gives around 5-8 kmpl more.
I dont care about mileage when riding hard for fun but when i have to commute it always gets on my mind.
Please donot advice me to go for splendor.

Looks like it. The recent model has better mileage than older ones. Not much. But still its noticable.Originally posted by Ishwor View PostIs there noticeable difference in mileage between fz16(2009) model and fzs(recent model)?

I saw this video of this guy using kerosene and a toothbrush to clean the chain.
So i was wondering, is a chain cleaner necessary, or is it ok to use diesel/kerosene?

Yes, you can use Kerosene to clean the chain.Originally posted by i91 View PostHey,

Advantage of chain cleaner is that, you have to spray it directly on the chain and wipe it off, which is not the case with kerosene. Spray is time effective as compared to kersoene.

Also, whats your say about motul chain lube? Would it be better if i use it rather than ep 90?

Gear oil is cheap and i find it better than chain lube. During my free service period, SVC used Motul Chain Lube and i didn't find it good.Originally posted by i91 View PostThanks, man

EP 90/140 based gear oil is very very cheap. You may get 1 ltr bottle from el cheapo brands like valvoline and others for as low as 90 bucks!! So you can lube atleast 2 sets of chain and sprockets easily!! However, it is very messy as the gear oil gets flung around the swing arm, rear alloys and even on the main stand if you accidentally apply too much. However, in terms of economical sense.. it is cheap efficient and works just as well as any other aerosol based lubrication options.
Cheers,A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

As rightly said, shoot a mail immediately to yes@yamaha-motors (verify from their website).Originally posted by eagle06 View PostGuys this is my 2nd free service invoice. Are the prices ok?

there is no such thing called min 50 bucks labor charge. complain about it!
Ask the svc guys not to lube chain. apply ep 90/140 instead. The chain & sprocket are priced 1170 bucks . to protect it, if every time you spend 140 bucks, then calculate after how many kms you will exceed 1170?
The tax amount is also fake. its clearly written on the parts MRP "inclusive of all taxes". the why pay separate tax?
