Here's a general trick I've learnt from Autocar. Always fill up your bikes either in early morning or at night rather than in the afternoons. This is bcoz at lower temp the fuel is more denser and you'd get more fuel per litre than at higher temp. Of course this trick isnt going to make my 33 into a 50, but just a decent trick of squeezing till the last drop.

I guess the trick is not to suddenly accelerate and not constantly shift to be in high gears all the time. This bike coz of its low torque is capable enough of going through traffic while on 5th gear at 25 kmph as long as you don't have an itchy twisty right hand .

Also get your A/F mixture checked... don't make it too lean otherwise the top end will go for a toss. i am now hitting close to 49 kmpl... But yeah you will have to ride like a splendor initially till you cross the 60kmph mark

    Cheers

              • ^^ the pirelli looks nice.. I think it will do well, but might be quite expensive compared to the stock FZ tyre.

                  • Hi guys,

I'm taking my FZ to first service in an hour, I have read few posts in this thread suggesting which oil to use etc., Can someone suggest me if I should buy the oil or can I trust the SVC guys to use genuine oil. Is there something I need/suggest ask them? I'm also getting a free teflon coating, is it any worth?

                    Cheers

A tyre dealer near my house is asking for 3400 for Stock MRF REVZ and 3600 for Pirelli SD. I asked him why MRF is priced so much higher. He told that less stock availability and if you ask anywhere you wont get it less than 3400.

And he was right, asked 3-4 dealers and they had the same answer. MRF is only 200-300 Rs cheaper than Pirelli SD. But SD is not in the same size. It comes in 140/70 and as per the dealer there will be marginal increase in height and will be a direct fit.

The Pirelli is the only option we have apart from the RevZ. For 200 Rs getting a better product seems like the way to go. On my part I had sent a query to Pirelli India on their website couple of weeks back. No reply from them (Going the Yamaha way I presume.) But here is the contact number and address
