But I have FZ and I need to bang it hard everytime, the first day I was trying it to close by banging hard, I had bike keys in my hand and key went inside the seat making a small hole in the seat . Then I need to put a seat cover.

mileage is in the range of 35-45kmpl varies with the rider... I am getting around 40kmpl....

I want to know how would you rate a performance??

the bike's performance is very good for city riding for highway I would rate it as good as the higher end power is a bit less..... the bike can reach to speeds of 95-100kmph quickly but takes a lot of time to go further.... on highways the cruising speeds can be maintained at 85-90 without stressing the engine or any kind of vibrations from the bike.....

          +1 to Kinshuk's comments.
i am getting a mileage anywhere around 43-47, at times i have hit 49kmpl. But then again all depends on your riding style. I am currently on SPLENDOR MODE!! not taking the bike above 65kmph and shifting gears around 3.5k - 4k rpms .. So currently i am averaging around 44-47 kmpl.

ON Thrash mode... atleast my bike's mileage dropped to 30 kmpl!

This bike has an impressive low end torque and can pull itself at 25kmph while being on 5th gear!! If you are looking for signal to signal fun..It will kick all other 150 - 180 CCs a$$e$ right from the start point till 60 kmph!

But yes if you are looking for extensive touring purpose then this bike loses its breath post 90 kmph... in that case I would recommend your friend to look for higher capacity bikes .. as kinshuk has mentioned, till 85 -90 kmph you will have a ball of time, the bike will not overheat or vibrate or be uncomfortable in any way.

This bike had been designed for corners.. its always so eager to lean and take corners one after the other.

          hope this helps

          • Before my second service, my downshift used to be rough. Sometime I had to exert a little force to downshift the gear. I told them about this problem during the second service. However, now things have gotten weird. Many times, if the bike is stationary, I cannot downshift the gear at all..!! I have to first rev the bike a little .. then there is a "khat" sounds as though the gear locked/unlocked from some place then I can downshift to a lower gear and then I have to repeat the process again until I reach the gear I want.

I never had this problem before, I thought they would just lub the gears .. Is this normal? or I'd like to know what could have gone wrong

Erm, even i am currently facing the same problem ... especiallly when i want to downshift from neutral to 1st..just have not been able to make a short trip the svc coz of hectic work load. My guess, your clutch cable is the culprit. you need to adjust the clutch cable release tension with the clutch lever, that should solve the problem. ask those dumb svc guys specifically to look for this.

              cheers

              • When i go above 100 kmph, my bike is gasping for air, and there is lot of missings above 100. does this call for Air filter change, My bike has done 10k, and i don't remember svc having changed air filter any time.

                @Insomnia

If you ride like a splendour, FZ will give mileage of 40-50 kmpl and if you ride like RX-100 it will give 25-35 kmpl.

Actually FZ's has this tendency of climbing upto 0-100 in no time! and after that it shows the rider that its capable of nothing more! it might climb more if you push it but wont have that punch in it to push it forward easily! if you feel there is some kinda choking problem try dusting your air filter no need to change them

                        • simple..use another air filter like k&n with slight performance gain..forgot pricing..or try removing just the top cover of airbox if ur ok with it..alternatively you can go for free flow exhaust with definite loud sound and power delivery benefits..one sold via yamaha costs 14000 to 17000 for fz.

+1 to that ... but the wind factors in here , against the wind touring is extremely hard ... hav been forced to crawl at 50 or 60kmph due to this ...
