Ladies and Gentlemen..
I feel elated to announce that my NightFury has recently recorded a mileage of FORTY effin FIVE kmpl.. yeah 45 kms in a litre..
I had filled up petrol worth 200 bucks.. which is around 3.6 litres.. when I hit reserve the last time 4 days back... Since then, it ran for almost 162.3 kms before getting on to reserve again today..
I usually ride between 60-80 kmph and after second service, last week, I just ensured that I shift gears between 4-4.5K .. other than that..I cant remember anything else that would have changed..
I hope its not just a one time show..

Dudes, I had my PUC refreshed today. Noticed the change between the previous emission amounts and this one. Previous CO levels were 0.03%. On this check, it was 0.8%
Previous hydro-carbon level was 20 PPM. The new one claims 811 PPM

I just had my bike serviced a few weeks back. Can anyone throw some light as to what the fk is going on and why this much degradation is there in a matter of 6 months??
Also, before getting the PUC and after getting the bike serviced, I continued to notice the change in engine note (it is way sexier than the usual low note - not too loud but not too meek either) but the readings confirmed a problem. Help please :'(

yup that's definitely a decent figure.. however as i have said in my previous posts.. you have to be on splendor mode to achieve that.. not sure whether the guys on pulsars and honda have to follow the same procedure to hit 45+!!A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

well guys on their pulsars and hondas (with respect to 150's) dont need to maintain their speed in SPLENDOR MODE to get a FE of 45+ cause as far as i know our beast is the having issues with FEOriginally posted by shv18 View Postyup that's definitely a decent figure.. however as i have said in my previous posts.. you have to be on splendor mode to achieve that.. not sure whether the guys on pulsars and honda have to follow the same procedure to hit 45+!!
which most of us here dont bother about. But still when driven on highways at constant speed and driven in the splendor mode it does gets a very decent fe

+1 to that ... i'm gettin a constant 43 kmpl , but I'm not on SPLENDOUR mode either ... 70 to 80 cruise with no sudden shifts ... coz my entire route is a highway with moderate to extremely sparse traffic ...Originally posted by Helios View Postwell guys on their pulsars and hondas (with respect to 150's) dont need to maintain their speed in SPLENDOR MODE to get a FE of 45+ cause as far as i know our beast is the having issues with FE

yup i prefer that mode too
... its just that during month end i tend slow down a bit with cash flow going down till the salary fills in at the starting of the next month.
regardless i believe i never kept FE in mind when buying this bike otherwise would have considered the likes in the 150 cc category otherwise.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Rise in the levels can be two reasons.Originally posted by s_and_m View PostDudes, I had my PUC refreshed today. Noticed the change between the previous emission amounts and this one. Previous CO levels were 0.03%. On this check, it was 0.8%

1. Your last fuel was super crappy.
2. (and this might be more likely) you are running a very rich mixture i.e., fuel is added a lot as compared to air. Fuel doesnt get burnt fully and properly and therefore more carbon deposits.
This could be an awesome way of finding if the bike is on a rich mixture or not. All you guys with me on this conclusion??
My prev 500 Rs (8.38L) of Petrol lasted for 215 Km. Un friggin belieavable. Never have I got so low. This is in car territory now. Some major must have got screwed. Coz I usually get 33 - 37 kmpl in my usual trash mode. Like everyone I'm also suspecting rich mixture (or lousy pump). But here's the puzzler. Normally on a rich mixture there will be a lot of soot settled on the inside of the exhaust and if you rev at neutral to say 8k rpm all that soot would get blown away. I tried that and nothing came. Now i'm shitting in my pants hoping nothing got messed with the air filter or worse the carb
Any suggestions guys?Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

Whoa. Long story, but good story. Mebbe the guys with real bad tyres can also approach MRF offices in their cities.Originally posted by RAK View PostLets see how this new tyre would behave on our useless roads.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

I was gonna say lean mixture on the carb setting. But then you should get much higher avg than what you have quoted.Originally posted by 110cc View PostGuys,
Posting this query on behalf of my friend who owns a FZ16, recently hes facing the following issue with his bike.
While riding (in any gear for that matter), the engine turns off/sputters on letting go off the accelerator and applying it back again. The accelerator needs to be applied repeatedly (in a release/apply-fashion), the engine responds, & sometimes turns off as well.If the engine is in the neutral gear, the above mentioned issue doesn't persist. He got the carbs cleaned/serviced ,but of no use. Also, eversince this problem has begun, the bike gives an avg of hardly 25-28 km/L
Any thoughts? Opinions please
Super dumb question, have u released the choke when you drive? what is the engine rpm on idle (for a warm engine), if that is more like 3k instead of 1.8k then the choke is ON or it continues to ON inspite of the lever being in OFF position.
And check the air filter for any blockages. Hope the bike papers are not put inside the air inlet.
If that dont help, check the fuel line for any leaks (shooting in the dark this..)Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

2nd paid service
on saturday i gave my bike for service at Pacer, Banglore. I should admit my bike was in very pathetic condition(no mileage/ no good pickup). After service it was like a charm; they brought a big
on my face.
Their attitude was very please and they were never in a hurry mode, they listened to my problems and noted down and attened every prob.
I should rate 5 for Pacer when compared to PANACHE / ORION. Their attitude is worst and they hardly interact with the customers.
I very much recommed PACER for any service or any jobs.
I dealt with the person - SatyaChandra. I must surely recommend him!!
Question - How to check the disc brake liquid level??Last edited by grandvam; 12-12-2010, 07:54 PM.vamsi

I dont get it guys.Originally posted by nand15 View Posthmmm... exactly what I was wondering , the only reason I thought of was the wiring being unable to handle the current ... which again seemed very unlikely to me ... then I thought all those classes I bunked ( i'm doin E&EE) might have caused me to miss something
I had asked the same question a couple of months back and all of you guys were like rewiring is needed etc., etc., I had asked this question in the batteries section also and there too I got the same answer.
Make up your minds.

See from what I understood , even if do shift to a 9Amp battery , the current to charge the battery is limited ... not enough to actually warrant re-winding . 35w headlamp plus turn indicators and speedo all take up the current and the rest goes to the battery for charging , so comparatively it's within limits , so there's no need for rewiring ... experts correct me if i'm wrong ...Originally posted by dude_phenom View PostI dont get it guys.
