Hmm.. ok, I'll tank up and measure the average. If shit happens, I'll rev it at neutral to 8k. But I fear that if nothing comes up during this, and if I take it to the SVC, they'll tune it for mileage :'(. I get 38 and I'm always on trash mode and hence, would absolutely loath riding this bike if detuned.Originally posted by dude_phenom View Post

rear tyre veering to the right when it locks.
Hey folks,
hope u all are enjoying with ur baby fz.
I had a small query to be verified. Is it normal for the rear tyre to veer to the right when u lock the tyre. I experienced it today for the first time when i locked the rear brakes.
I was surprised when this happened. Is this something to be worried about????
Plss help....
eagerly awaiting ur reply.....

You could try balancing the rear wheel. Take it to your SVC. It cost me about 180 Rs at Pacer Motors, Blr.Originally posted by rylan View PostHey folks,

You have to place bike on center stand on a level surface and hold the handle bar level too and look at the brake level indicator at the side of the reservoir.Originally posted by grandvam View Post
Question - How to check the disc brake liquid level??
That is the black box at right handle bar. There is a circular glass window in which you can see the liquid level. Look for a bubble or flash a light at it.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

Better headlights
Currently I have stock headlights on my FZ and I have completed my second free service. Could I get better headlights? Would it void my future free services or anything like that? If not, which ones should I go for and can I get them fixed at the SVC itself?Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

Bro you wont void your warranty until you mess with your wiring. Just changing the headlight wont void your warranty. Thats what i know. Hey man, before trying anything like that you must know that the weight of the beast is centralized. Hence if you lock up your rear wheel you should be able to maintain it in a straight line if you want by transfering your body weight to the left and right respectively.Originally posted by rylan View PostHey folks,

Other than that check the air pressure on the tyres and other significant stuffs
if you are not sure about the tyre alignment check it with the SVC guys

Hi guys.. My FZ is a year old & has clocked 11k+ kms so far.
My bike is completely as it came in stock & nothing changed so just wanted to know the basic parts to be changed if any for the FZ as old as mine?
1) Sprockets (My SVC guy says both sprockets should be changed at 10k kms & he suggestd me to instal stock R15 sprockets which shall cost me around Rs 1500)
2) Spark plug? (NGK Irridium)
3)Air filter (Stock or K&N/Pipercross)
4) Disc brake fluid / Shock absorbers fluid ?
5) Chain set ?
6) anything else requires a replacement?
Please suggest soon as I expect to cross 12 k kms within this week & planning to overhaul my FZ whatever it requires.
Regards.

1. Air filter.
2. spark plug ( i'd go for NGK iridium )
3. chain set if its necessary.
4. brake pads and brake lining of necessary.
5. Special greasing at fork bearing and swing arm.
stuff like brake pads and chain depend on usage and maintenance... so for some they change before 12k while others 15k..I'd rather be fast than invisible!!!!!

Yes it is normal for the bike to fishtail if you slammed hard on the brakes , not necessary to be at high speeds , it can fishtail at 40kmph , i specifically tried this out on a free road ... but the thing is , the bike offers so much stability that even if you do fishtail , it's much easier to control it on the FZ than on some other bikes i've ridden ...Originally posted by rylan View PostHey folks,

1. OSRAM NB 55W/55W or a philips vision 55/55 cost around (700-850rs per bulb depending on the city but you can bargain)
2. 35W HID kit DONOT go for 55W(illegal mod if you get caught, legal with projectors installed)(price for HID kit varies from 1600 for chinese brands to 6000 for Philips single kit) ( price for projectors varies from 2k-12k for single projectors for details of projectors check the link in my signature or search for a thread named Let there be Light in Universal Threads Section)
3. otherwise go for rewinding and you can install a 100w car bulb in it)Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

go only if you are willing to sacrifice a bit of low end torque and get some good high end power....
2) Spark plug? (NGK Irridium)
NGK Iridium definitely, (costs 550rs, ngk doesnot make iridiums for fz but the iridium for honda shine fits perfectly)
3)Air filter (Stock or K&N/Pipercross)
i will advice you to remain stock as otherwise you will have to get in the hassles of upjetting, tuning the carb etc.
4) Disc brake fluid / Shock absorbers fluid ?
top up if required...
5) Chain set ?
depends on the wear and tear..
6) anything else requires a replacement?
oil filter if it was not changed at 10k
Please suggest soon as I expect to cross 12 k kms within this week & planning to overhaul my FZ whatever it requires.

^^ on the contrary , with the R15 sprockets you will lose out on the top end ... we have 40 teeth rear sprocket , and the R15 has 42 ... more teeth at the back will result in a loss in top end , but crazy lower range acceleration , you will get a pocket rocket that gets breathless at high speed ....
check this , you can see the performance of any gearing or sprocket mod you have ...

Guys i wanted to check my spark plug today , but the thing was screwed in too tightly , I was scared to put pressure incase I break it or somethin ... i used the tool in the kit to get it out ... all of a sudden it isn't coming out ...
