Check out the suspension. There is no mono-cross like our bikes. Its at a weird (or atleast i think it is) place. Wonder how that works.

I guess this will be in Yamaha India's minds. They did launch the FZ1. I'm sure FZ6 is on the cards as well. As for a 250cc bike donno. It'll wipe out Karizma for sure. Now that Honda has washed their hands off

We ought to ban mileage talk on this forum

Last 500Rs (8.4L) lasted me a shocking 212Km. I hope that pump cheated me by 2-3L. I'd rather be cheated than accept my bike gives poor mileage

Current 500Rs looks promising though. Reached 5k km mark today. Yaay.

      • ^^ congrats For ur sake, I wish the petrol bunk had cheated u. After u asked me to check my average (because of the relatively high pollution levels), I topped it up, and today, 3 of the highest bars went 'off' on the fuel indicator with the trip meter reading 300kms.. So its on track as of now

Got me a Pirelli Sport Demon (MT75 is not available ANYWHERE in Pune it seems) 140/70 - 17" for the rear, manufactured in Dec 2009 (hope its not too old). 30-40 odd kms done on it so far. Word of advice for people changing tyres to anything but stock - If u go for a higher profile tyre, chop off / file off / remove the tyre hugger. While riding on bumps, coz when the suspension gives way to adjust the pulse of the bump, the tyre hits the hugger. A half km stretch of stony road is there leading out of my area towards the main road. Due to this, when I came back after a ride today, there was an inch-thick strip in the centre of the cross-section of the tyre running all the way through which looked like it had been scraped with a knife. I'm weeping blood.

I am running my bike in nitrogen for the past 4-5 months! as nitrogen is lighter than air (i think so ) its pretty good. A bit of improvement in the bikes performance i would recommend nitrogen over air anytime

I need to replace my rear tyre ASAP but as I said, theres lack of availabitlity over here.. theres one high profile tyre 140/70 with no company name or manufactures details.... it was around 3k but due to high demand, its over 3.5k now.

mmm... improvement in what ? top whack ? acceleration? handling ? braking ?

it still beats me how nitrogen improves performance. afterall, normal air is 78% nitrogen. does 22% make such a difference ?

one thing is normal contains moisture but compressed nitrogen doesnt.
One thing is it doesnt heat up the tires fast so it is used in formula1 cars.
but in real life scenarios its not much of a benefit and the cost topping up negates everything..

Yea, Pirelli Sport Demon is for 3900 here. It was around 3k 2 months back . The guy said there is a weird rise in prices. But my doubt is that if he got this tyre only 2 months back at a higher price, why is the manufacturing date Dec 2009? Should have been newer

Unmarked brand on a tyre? Be super careful while examining it before u purchase it... Ty going to the MRF showroom itself and book a tyre if it isnt in stock

                            Got my basics wrong
The hugger is attached directly to the swingarm, just like the tyre.. so there's no relative movement between the hugger and the tyre. Still I am getting a sound of metal clinking against metal every time I go over a bump - without fail. I thought it was the tyre hitting the hugger or some other similar hits due to the bigger profile on the tyre... Any suggestions as to what it could be?

I've just ridden 40 kms on it and that too in traffic, so cant say anything abt either mileage or performance. Honestly though, I'm not really expecting a great deal of mileage or performance gain (the contact patch has reduced drastically coz of the roudner shape of the tyre, so whatever that translates to should happen), but I am expecting superior grip on corners while running though ghats

All is well, but the clinking sound is killing me.

I havn't used N2 but from whatever I'v read, the differences are only felt where there is massive stress on the vehicle - like in racing. Mere mortal kinda driving wont really require N2 all that much. 30 bux for a fill up of N2 as compared to free fill up of normal air in petrol pumps is infinitely costlier for the kind of advantage u'll be able to tap from N2.

                              Ah its nothing psychological! :|
i myself dont believe this stuff but the ride does gets a bit smoother and the character of the tyre improves a bit and becomes more responsive top wack sure improves a bit when pushed hard! braking handling has slight changes thats all nothing big buddy nitrogen aint needed for saint kinda riding! which i am turning into so i myself might anytime get back to air !

and 22% is a decent amount that can change some characteristics of the atmospere where it is present!

For MRF I got it replaced for 680 Rs from MRF regional office.
You can get it from a retail MRF dealer for not more than 2400 Rs. If he is asking more call the MRF regional office and get it directly from them.
