Today morning I rode my friend's Fazer, his bike clocked 2000 KM and 4 months old. The bike pick up was awesome compared to my bike, braking was very good compared to mine. Engine is smooth.
Especially his seat height is less compared to mine.
My bike clocked 400 KM and 1 month old. What could be the difference b/w 2 bikes ???

your bike has still not finished the run in period.. the engine internals & brakes still need to set in hence, you may not find your bike smoother than your friends who's bike is 1600 kms older than yours and in his case the engine parts and brakes have set in completely.
All new bikes behave like this before their run in period. Nothing to worry about. please go through your bike's manual once, it will clear all your doubts.
and may i suggest before posting, please do go through previous posts on this thread. your query has already been asked and answered by someone.

Ting Ting Ting !Originally posted by shetty_vikas View PostHello to all Fellow Xbhpian's !! for the past 6months i have been reading through each and every post about FZ on the xbhp.
Finally i booked my new babe on 6th Dec'2010.....got it deliverd on 9thFeb'2011, being an active member of a riding community in Mumbai -Valiant Riderz...we often go for long distance touring once in a month which includes cornering on ghats, night riding etc...
This made me go for the yamaha FZS..which is one hell of a bike when it comes to cornering at the price of 78,100INR (mumbai).
I have recently put a Bixenon HID with projectors and Angel Lights with a Pressure horn !!
Now my Eclips has become an Eye-Catcher for most of the bikers around my locality, even the R15 guys stop to have a look at it.
I sincerely thanks each member of xbhp...for helping me buy FZS. looking forward for the first service on 5th MArch.

same here.. went over a deepish pothole while I was going pretty fast, and had a pillion. touchwood all is wellOriginally posted by RAK View Post@s_and_m: I have been through many potholes even at 90 KMPH where I was about to lose balance, but never faced any issues with the RIMS…touchwood
. Only problems I am facing currently is the front tyre skidding a bit nowadays as I brake hard. I guess its 19K on my odo right now and need to get a new one in few days.

Yesterday my friend was putting exide battery for his FZ. It costed him around 1100 Rs. When I asked him whether it was a MF battery or not he said yes. I doubt it was a MF battery for 1100 Rs.
If you insurance is getting over in few days then claim the bend RIM under insurance. At the time of renewal get the insurance from a different company and dont show your claim.Originally posted by nand15 View PostHaven't got it fixed ....

I did plan on this too ... But what percentage would I get on the RIM ? and since the bend is not at all obvious , but just enough to leak air through the side would they approve of the claim ?Originally posted by RAK View PostIf you insurance is getting over in few days then claim the bend RIM under insurance. P.S : I still have about 6 months on my insurance ...People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

If the Bend is visible then they should approve it.Originally posted by nand15 View PostI did plan on this too ... But what percentage would I get on the RIM ? and since the bend is not at all obvious , but just enough to leak air through the side would they approve of the claim ?

I guess for metal parts we get something around 70-80%. Not sure of this.
6 months is a long period. Better would be buying a foot pump and a pressure guage, if you dont wanna spend on the new RIMS.

I'm not worried about spending on new rims , what i'm worried about is the chances of the new rim surviving long enough on our pothole filled roads ... I don' t wanna spend 1.7k or 3k every few months changing my rims ...Originally posted by RAK View PostIf the Bend is visible then they should approve it.

I can't guarantee on that buddy.Originally posted by nand15 View PostI'm not worried about spending on new rims , what i'm worried about is the chances of the new rim surviving long enough on our pothole filled roads ... I don' t wanna spend 1.7k or 3k every few months changing my rims ...

In my previous organization I used to travel 40 KMS daily and on awesome highway in Mumbai (Eastern Express). During this period of 10 months I knew each and every pothole (there aren't many, just few on the flyovers) and avoided those.
But after my job change my current organization is very near to my house. Just 6 KMS daily travelling. But the roads at Sakinaka in Mumbai are so pathetic that for last 8 months of my travelling on this road I cant remember even a single pothole. Every time a new pothole comes from no-where.
Had 6 punctures in the first 2 months on this road on my rear tyre which I finally got replaced from MRF.
This is the same story which every Indian is bound to face (I meant the pothole story). But if you want to avoid the trouble for yourself you can give it a try and get a new RIM. As per my opinion rims are not that bad as comapred to what people are promoting.
