  • The bike is designed to have a fatter tyre .. the entire chassis, tyre and silencer concentrate on lowering the center of gravity and concentrating the mass at the center of the bike. hence the good handling.

On the 1 5, a fat (heavy) tyre will kill the handling as weight distribution dies.

      • Hi All,

My FZ is 29 days old now and ready for first service.
Can any 1 tell me if there is something specific to ask for to the service men?
Or is it that conventional oil change is all that is required after 1 month of travel. Ive run around 800kms.
        Please advice.

I rode my friend's FZ to Nagarkot and I am in love with its cornering ability and torque as compared to my P180 V3. The only one thing that's hindering my decision is the lack of power at the top end in the FZ. But having been riding the P180 I don't think so I will be missing the Bajaj while riding this one.

As per my assumption I guess a shift from the P180 to a FZ won't be much of a downgrade on the performance part.

Most importantly once the service is done, please check if they have indeeed changed the engine oil(usually it will be more viscous and dark apple juice yellow in color if changed) and if they've properly cleaned and lubricated the chain.

Outside this, there may be specific requirements for the 1st service which your owners manual will mention. Check the documents that came with the bike. It would have an owner's manual which mentions what all needs to be done. Depending upon how bike-savvy you are you should be able to figure out what is what part and how it needs to be serviced. Read it before you take your bike for service.

Some FZ 16 owner can add more to this or correct me if i've misinformed anywhere.

yes, well i-uze has said he has a 180 V3. I am assuming V3 he means UG3? (sorry if i am wrong) I don't think the FZ has as much whack as a 180 V3, especially after 80+. I felt this as I rode both bikes. I might be wrong though. It depends on one's views, but I still think its a downgrade on performance front.

                    • Agree with Speedaholica.. the owner manual comes with pretty much everything that there is to do service checkups.

                      Some tips:

check all clocks analog/digital on the speedo.
check for noise (different to the ones as heard before the service)
                      Gear Box (shift)
Clutch leaver (tell the mech if you want it to be loose or tight.. )
                      Lubricants.
                      and a Good Bike Wash..

also you might want to check the battery. and trust me especially for new bikes these tend to loose out on juice if not used in a while.

                      • Some Probs!

Thanks Indeed Speedaholica and soulstation. I will definetely take care of these things..

1 more thing, with passage of time, Ive observed that some times Dipper doesnt work and on many of the occasions Low Beam doesnt work, I really wonder what may have caused that but this need to be fixed.

And secondly, I have observed that when i try to accelerate on smaller gear ratios (small gears 2nd or 3rd), more often than not, i get the feeling that theres something that is touching the front Mudguard and cause a little noise and vibration.

Can any1 tell me why this is occuring?

I will anyways take this to the servicing guy!

Ok one possibility is the headlight bulb fitted in the housing must have become loose or possibly a connector wire somewhere. The other could be at the switchgear level where there must be a loose contact on the low beam/high beam switch or pass switch.

I had this happening on my bike's leg guard. I have a pulsar and at a particular RPM when the vibrations were adequate enough to cause one of the loose nuts on the guard to jitter leading to a very peculiar noise that i thought was coming from the engine.

I dont know at what RPM the engine's vibrations translate to the rest of the bike because I haven't ridden it, but I'm assuming you're reaching a particular rpm level where some loose part near the mudguard is vibrating against its surface causing it to make some noise and give a feeling something is touching the mudguard. It could also be the clip that holds the speedometer or disc brake cable in place at the front wheel.

                          Hope this helps.

                          • better show it to the mech.

also do get the guys to look into the clutch Break (they call it as clutch pad i think)
the new yam's do tend to have these issues with the C-Breaks.

I doubt its got anything to do with the front fender at all. just for the heck of it, since our roads in our city ( im from Mumbai) are not the so called roads.. i use to have a lot of issues with the wheel bearings. mind you they do cost 125rs./ bearing.

Man that is expensive. And how many such bearings does it use? With regards to the Mumbai roads, i couldn't agree more.

Could you also mention other expensive replacements that you've seen with your FZ? Are all the other replacements costlier when compared to other bikes?
