After that see if the engine shuts off. Next service change the engine oil to Motul Semi Synth 15W 50. I feel a thinner grade should help your ride to start easily. Also for the time being keep the idling at around 1800 once, your engine heats up fully following the same process. See if increasing the idling helps your ride start better. I feel you should start riding your bike close to 6 k revs now and modulate the throttle to let the engine open up better.
Hey Shiv18, Today morning I did as you told me, The bike started with just one touch and I revved from some time 2-3 rpm and as it usually does it wanted to stall but I didn't leave, I kept on accelerating and after 30 seconds the engine kept idling and I didn't wait, I took him out.

Didn't increase the idle speed because I don't want to hear more noise. And about SS oil you told me earlier to stick to mineral oil till 3k kms. Was that right?

Anyways I'm gonna change engine oil at 1k ODO with Motul mineral oil as you suggested. Finally I'm still confused about mileage, I don't know how it suddenly shot up to 48 km/l after first service. was there any error?

    Thank You

Why dont you just pull up the choke and let it rev?
This is what I follow when I start after a long break --> pull up the choke --> Start wearing my gears (which takes around 2-3 mins) --> pull the choke down --> Start riding and keep the Revs below 4.5K for first 5 mins/1 Kms to let the engine warm-up.

Yes, I do just that too!
....but for some, the mantra seems to be: Why do simple when you can do complicated

rofl. Actually I have seen my friends starting their bikes and revving it very hard just to warm up the engine . Despite me suggesting them not to do so, they will just drive off redlining like their backside is on fire. So currently I have just stopped suggesting them.

          • @ rak before asking me to pull the choke, you must read my previous queries about what happened when I used the choke. First read that and throw some information. It will be helpful

This was a very rude reply. I just suggested you to pull the choke reading your latest comment. If you feel that it does not apply to you then you can just ignore it rather than putting it here in such words . I was just trying to help you out and it would have been easier for you to quote it here again instead of asking me to do it.

This afternoon when I self started, just to check the battery contact, the bike started and got off. Maybe because of cold weather, second attempt when I gave few accelerations around 4-5 rpm for few seconds and it went ok and then when I pulled the choke the engine stalled. This happened for several attempts. I'm just assuming if there is any problem with the choke cable, if it is working or not. I told the service guy to look into this start problem. Because I had a previous bike Fiero F2 didn't have this kinda start problem, so I thought it was with tuning but the service guys says that he won't touch the carburetor until ODO reaches 5000 kms.

I just want to ask you if there is any Do It Yourself thing. I mean about the idle speed, can I touch the idle speed lever: What should be the idle speed: My idle speed in 1000k, is it right? just want to ask why the engine gets stalled when I pull the choke instead of getting raised. Just gave few more accelerations and again pulled the choke cable to see if it is really working. And it worked for few seconds and again the engine stalled. This happened for three to four times.

Just if I can do anything DIY thing so that I can have the right engine idle speed and start the vehicle in just one single push without raising the acceleration.

I can't go to SVC guy because he said he won't touch the carburettor till 5k.

                Thank You
Hey Rak, this is it. Sorry if I had abused you. Really didn't mean like that. I thought you were following the whole thread. Anyways sorry if I hurt you. I think now you can throw some information and guide me. Humble Request

as i asked svc what problem is there they told me that

camshaft chain has become lose and the element that hold the camshaft has been tear out and need adjustment

Why don't you try the idling speed at 1800RPM? there is no need to be concerned about the noise. The engine will not be harmed by it. FI bikes, even on the Joelled R15s when one cranks up the engine, for the first 30 seconds the engine revs at 3000 rpm and then settles down to 1500 rpm.

Do a full tank to reserve twice and see the average. Since, the first service, the engine has got rid of metal parts and the tolerances are building up to the correct level hence, the mileage figure. However, that may increase or decrease as you start piling up kms. No offense, but please stop getting so worried about your ride so much. She will tell you when she is not feeling things right in a proper manner. Your ride is simply too young to have any problems developed mechanically at this stage. And judging by your enthusiasm to keep the things in order as per the book, she would do just fine.

                    Ride safe

                    Cheers,

How much did crash guard costed you. Will it be fitting for FZ-S? And what about headlight? Only one glows and why the other is dead?

                            Thanks bro!

The crash guard costs Rs.950 here at Orion Motors in B'lore.
I think FZ-S has a different styled crash guard, but I guess they are interchangeable. You can decide which one suits your taste the best.

As for the single-lit headlamps, thats a weird thing about this bike. The left side lamp is the normal light and the right side one is the high beam lamp. Only one glows at a time. Although there is a way to make both of them glow together by holding the Hi-Lo beam selector switch to the middle position. But doing this repeatedly drains the battery pretty fast (as per what I read on the internet). Also my friend who has a Fazer got a small mod which makes both the lamps glow. It has drained his battery pretty bad now and he has to push the bike to start most of the time.

However we can still get this done by replacing the battery with the battery on the R15. Thats quite a capable battery and you can easily run with both the head-lamps. Will be doing that sometime in the future

                              Ah... The Midnight Special!!

Too bad it wasn't available for the 2012 edition of the bike.
But after I saw the black cyber green, I realised that this is it.

                              • Today was hilarious...My neighbour has bought his first bike (Pulsar 150) few days back.He was comparing his clip-on handlebars with my Fazer's handlebar. He gave me a nice suggestion.."Cut the mid-portion (between the two holders) of the handlebar to make it look like mine (clips-ons) ! Even inserting the keys will be a problem with the current design of your handlebar." I was like ...!!!

@Arijit: I was also shown the headlight switch trick by the sales guy.But I have been warned not to do that by many owners here, since it destroys the switch after some time. Moreover, you don't want to make one light glow on low-beam and the other on high-beam,while u go on telling people, "Tedha hai,par mera hai." ( kidding!)
Both the lights are capable of continuously glowing on low-beam and high-beam.You need 30cm of wire, divide it into 2x15cm strips.connect them using some trial and error..you will have both the lights working together at low-beam and similarly, both on high-beam.Its one of the easiest mods.
And as for the battery,u got warranty on that.So keep experimenting.
