hey guys my bike is ready for service (3rd).i bought my fz in jan.
i have cloaked 2600kms till now.but after amy second service i didnt drive the bike much as i went out of station.now i am back again.

the bike has done around 600kms after the second service.

and i have not been using it since a month.i returned 4 days back and started using it again..

but should i go for the engine oil change(as i have changed it in the 2nd service-and its been 600kms after that)

and if yes then which oil to go for?

and please suggest me the specic engine oils and their duration of usage(inkms)
should i chnge the engine oil in this service?
how often should one change the oil in fz?
my bike is due service in the yamaha svc tomorrow.so please reply asap.
thank you all everyone in advance!!

everything has been clearly mentioned in your manual please go through it properly. Any oil has a certain amount of life hence, it is recommended to change oil as per the manual either certain no. of kms or days.

you can either opt for the following:

      1) 20W 40 Mineral oil. cheapest has a lifespan of 2500-3000 kms (costs 270-300 bucks per ltr). Motul Factory Line 4T Mineral Oil 20W 40

      2) 15W 50 semi synthetic oil has a life span of 3000-3500 kms (Costs around 450-550 bucks per ltr).Motul Factory Line 4T Single Ester Semi Synth Oil 15W 50

      3) 15W 50 Fully synthetic oil has a lifespan of 5000+ kms. (Costs 980 bucks per ltr).Motul Factory Line 4T Double Ester Fully Synth Oil 15W 50

I am a Motul fan so will recommend products from there.. Other senior riders are also welcome to provide alternative options here.

      Cheers,

          Perhaps you misinterpreted his words.
When the FFE is used inconjunction with airfilter, headwork, big bore, carb tune, (possibly) CDI then it will be the most beneficial. Though look at the thousands if not millions of bikes (and cars) that only have sports exhausts. In particular you can get slip-on mufflers or the entire header pipe/s and muffler to suit various bikes out on the market.

Every car, bike, truck, infact any internal combustion engine out there all have backpressure, Infact backpressure can be beneficial in helping scavenge exhaust gasses out of the exhaust header pipes (Low pressure - High pressure) providing you have bought or designed and fabricated tuned length extractors/headers.
Unless you are dealing with forced induction (turbo, supercharged) then you don't need backpressure (Unless you use it to control boost in extreme cases)

If anything having excessive backpressure can be limiting to your HP output but I wouldn't be as bold as to say it will reduce the life of the engine, there are too many factors out there that play their parts.

There is so much hearsay and myths being posted as truths it is almost impossible to know what is fact and fiction. Someday people will take the wrong piece of advice and it will cost them dearly.
          Hi Mik,

i am stating my facts only after interacting with some of the good tuners and the regional svc head of yamaha. Not that i am questioning your statement, it stands true but as far as FZ is concerned this is what i have to say... every owner is more then welcome to put in their perspective and comment on the same.. it is the best way we all will learn

I guess you have no choice but to visit a friendly Yamaha SVC once... i am not sure but if i remember it will cost around Rs. 1500-2000/-

I will ask the SVC head here and get back to you by the end of this week.

Why don't you directly check with the dealers in Pune where are their respective SVC located?

                1) Monarch Yamaha: +912041007000
                2) Yamaha Factory Shop: +918407994633

Get in touch with Trustvishwas. He should be able to guide you for the same. Or fellow Yammie riders should be able to guide you towards a good SVC in Pune.

                    I am just speculating:

                    1) Check the condition of the sprockets and the chain tension.
Will check it, any tips on the same would be welcome, this would be my first time.

                    2) If the engine is very very rough then do check the level of the engine oil.. also which brand of oil was put in?? any clue on that??
Its not too rough, but not as smooth either. The engine oil was the yamahalube itself, i have always used the same after the initial 5-6K kms. The rs. 475 one.

                    3) Have they checked the Valve clearances as per the yamaha service manual??
I'm not sure about this part, is there a way I can do it myself?

                    4) Are there any other alternative SVC around your area where you can troubleshoot the problem??
I think the closest SVC other than this is in Andheri, I might have to go to navi mumbai in the coming week, may be I'll try the SVC there.

Besides the above, i really don't see any other reason for such a sudden change of character of your ride.

Lets see how it works out..

                        Are you serious?
If you are serious about not paying for service you need to sell your bike and buy a new one.

                        • ^^^ ... Ok, seriously, if you are not going to work on your bike I don't see what other choice you have. Yes, you could go to a road side mechanic, but do you really want to take that big a risk with your bike? Don't be penny wise, pound foolish, continue to use a authorized service center and service your bike as per the recommended schedule.

                              Hi,

if you are based in Mumbai then don't even think about going anywhere else but Kamla yamaha, Sun Mill Compound, Lower Parel, Mumbai. They are best in the business and are super professional and don't loot the owners. You will have to take an appointment from the SVC prior to landing up there.

                              here are the details:

                              Kamla Yamaha SVC: +912224948100

Operating hours: Morning 10:00 am till Evening 5:00 pm (MONDAY - SATURDAY)

Land up there at 9:45 am after getting the appointment from the SVC. Ask for the workshop SVC Head: Rakesh. Do tell him that you are from xbhp and one guy with a red FZ (Me) and other with the Blue Yamaha R15 (Abhimanyu31) had recommended to speak with him and then in detail give him a description of all the problems you are facing with your ride. Based on his diagnosis and the severity of the problem, You should get your ride back in 2 - 3 hrs flat(washing included!!) Yes they are that fast..

Service charge wise yes they are bit expensive: Rs 300 for labour + Rs. 300/350 for SVC Centre, however they will ensure that your ride is completely sorted and trouble-free for at least another 7-10,000 kms.

get it done there first and thank me later

If you have finished 2 years of ownership then you can either opt for SVC or a local mechanic. However, based on my experience, i would rather pay up the SVC and get genuine parts and troubleshooting done by a Yamaha trained mechanic then a local mechanic who has worked on other bikes and doesn't have the right tools for the working on the ride... However, that is my perspective.. if the local mechanic you wish to go for has worked extensively on Yamaha 4 stroke bikes then yes sure!! but as long as you personally buy all the parts/spares from a genuine Yamaha outlet.

                              Cheers,
