Guys my next service would be due after a month, even though I am asking the question earlier. Actually heard that, the latest Yamalube engine oils we get from SVC are now made by some Indian company instead of MOTUL as earlier which was of far better quality, even though the Yamalube's available now are not that bad which we use.
Currently I use the Yamalube SS (15w50 I guess
) oil which is available at the YFS Kolkata SVC. My bike's odo read 6200 kms (1500 kms done after last oil change 4 months ago), so will be going for oil change on the coming service.
My question is - Is it OK to go with the Yamalube oil or should I opt for Motul ? If I had to opt for Motul then which Semi Synthetic oil of what grade should I go for. Also where can I get an Original Motul oil in Kolkata, coz I've heard that FAKE one's are also available here which is a big headache

go for Motul blindly...its great....you can always go for semi synthetic....it helps really in Kolkata heat...you can get original Motul in welington market.....there is the largest Yamaha authorized distributor there you can get it from him.....he keeps motul also along with Yamaha lube..you can go with 15W50 semi synthetic....Originally posted by Abhisek View PostGuys my next service would be due after a month, even though I am asking the question earlier. Can you tell me the name of the shop to be precise ? coz have heard that there are a lot of FAKES available in Wellington from many persons & some local mechanics too. Also can you please say me the name of the oil (for e.g. motul 3000 etc.)that would be good to go for. Thanks in advance broOriginally posted by Toxicbiker View Postgo for Motul blindly...its great....you can always go for semi synthetic....it helps really in Kolkata heat...you can get original Motul in welington market.....there is the largest Yamaha authorized distributor there you can get it from him.....he keeps motul also along with Yamaha lube..you can go with 15W50 semi synthetic....

You have a reason for not buying a performer.. The guy discussing mileage also has a reason!Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostWhat you do not know is that bikes over 175cc. are not allowed in Vietnam unless one is member of some "police" club (.....) and has got a special license. This license presently costs about 2,500 US Dollars!!! This is well over the price you pay for buying a FZ (in your country: we pay double that!). We just have no choice, hence the whole of your comment falls down.
What I was saying is be tolerant..
You ridicule Mileage obsession of Indians. Some here ridicule your performance obsession after buying a big fat 150 cc (Try R15 next time)
Your '.in' comment and Use of English language on forum.
What you dont know is that '.in' domain was only made public in 2005. We are belonging to pre .in era.
What you also dont know is the mother tongue of all Indians is not 'Hindi'.
Only around 50% of population can understand Hindi. Forget writing/reading. For a person living in Tamil Nadu, Tamil is the mother language.. same with many many others.. (we have more than 400 languages you see)
English is taught to nearly all nowadays.. Hindi isnt.
You can continue using Yamalube SS. (Black Bottle). Its genuine. Also see a post by Pinaki ji on the engine oil thread. He has given details of a Motul Dealer, who sells Motul at a good discount in Kolkata. Try PM Pinaki ji if you cant find it. Also, you can continue using your present oil till you complete 6 months or 3000 kms. Whats the hurry!Originally posted by Abhisek View PostGuys my next service would be due after a month, even though I am asking the question earlier. Answers and suggestions in boldOriginally posted by rajpradeep32 View PostYes still its under the 1000kms run in period , i have ridden 960kms.
Are you riding according to the manual during your run-in period. ie. First 500kms under 4k rpm and from 500-1000 kms under 6k rpm (though you might be riding slightly lower than what is said in the manual)?
I am not too sure about the engine oil that they had put in the yamaha svc centre but in the bill they have specified the name as (Engine oil sl ) and they have charged Rs.266.38 for it.
Surely it's Yama Lube 4T mineral oil and including tax it will cost Rs. 270
The engine roughness doesn't occur throughout just that it suddenly starts and at times gets resolved on its own during the ride itself and when it occurs there is no issue with acceleration too just that when i increase the throttle the speed increases as well as the vibrations in the handle bar and the tank and the noise that the engine gives out at the time is also weird (something like a very old bike). The chain in the bike has rusted a little bit and its dirty as well.
Chain rusted and it's dirty? What do you mean? Didn't they clean the chain for first service? When was your first service done? Or are you waiting for the first service? Surely you can feel the difference when you clean the chain and lube it.
Buy a chain cleaner and chain lube from motul (it's costly) or you can buy any o-ring safe chain lube of any recognised brands and you can use diesel/kerosene for cleaning and then lube it with chain lube you have bought (cheap method). It's simple DIY. Just search youtube and you will get tons of videos about cleaning and lubing bike chain.
Is your gear shifts smooth? If it's not then the problem is with your engine oil. Are you checking the level of engine oil? Do it after every 100 kms of short ride or at the end of long journey. Always have an eye on the level of engine oil.
Can you give a brief about your service history?Last edited by jonahmano; 08-27-2012, 02:00 AM.

Try mailing Mr. Sandeep Bhat from Motul India/Atlantic Lubricants(official impoter and marketer): [email protected] . Even though he is stationed in Mumbai, he should still be able to help you out either with Motul representatives in Blore or else try an organise a free home delivery of the desired product at your door step.Originally posted by arijitmaniac View PostYeah I would prefer that too... problem I had last time was I didnt have enough time to go to the Motul showroom. Next time thats the plan.
Its so far from home that you have to dedicate almost an entire morning just to go and get the oil from the showroom.
Add to that bangalore traffic

Installed white LED pilot lamp and 4300k HIDs on my Fazer.Looks great. Can anybody tell me the screw to adjust the headlamp focus? Is it the silver screw or the black nut? If possible, with a pic.
Will making both the headlamps glow without the ignition ( 2x35W HIDs ) drain the battery very soon? Although I kept the engine running while fixing the HIDs.
My ride, fully opened up.Looks very hot, like Triumph Speed Triple.

I have ridden 1000km on it and its 2months old .If there is any resolution for this please let me know
same with me bro....i experience this vibrations seeping thru the handle bar....nd unusual engine sound right after i cross 55km/hr......thot it will be solved after 1st servicing.....i have already lubed my chain while 1st servicing...... SVC guy told me to not to cross 50km/hr till 1000 kms....but its hard to resist the speed after a month of buying it.... but many of our members have told that the vibrations will fade ofter 2nd servicing....

solution to RC FFE brushing against swing-arm
added spacers(circled in red)
result-2mm gap with no contact with swing-arm or rear brake cable(shown in pic)
if you want more gap just get bigger spacers but make sure you get a longer bolt! Our bikes can go from 0 - Stupid in less than "I wonder if this will be a good idea"

Hi speedy,Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostInstalled white LED pilot lamp and 4300k HIDs on my Fazer.Looks great. Can anybody tell me the screw to adjust the headlamp focus? Is it the silver screw or the black nut?......
Seems, when looking at your pic, that you installed the HID bulbs by directly replacing the original H4 (or whatever they were). Are sure it is legal not to used projectors? HID lamps are known for producing a glow, very uncomfortable to others, while projectors do not and give a very "clear cut" of the area that is illuminated= no problem to others!
Answering to your question about the height of the beam adjustment on the Fazer: yes, it is the "silver" screw. When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!
