I initially had a mushroom fix done. That lasted quite a while. But then, another big-ass nail made its way into the tire very very close to the earlier one. Got it mushroom fixed as well. Few months later, I found air leaking out of the sides of one of the close puncture points. The guy said doing a mushroom fix will keep tearing the wall apart. Better to open up the tire and put hot rubber on the inside and seal it off from the outside. Got that done for 550 bux (2 punctures. 450 for opening it and fixing one, 100 extra for another). After 2 days of riding, found that the outer rubber was getting rubbed off and all that remained was the piece stuck exactly over the vulcanized part. And today, I found both the points were leaking. Tried to reason with the guy and tried to make him admit that he did a shitty job of vulcanization. Didn't work, but he took out the outer rubber and did 2 more mushroom fixes on the spots for free. They seemed to hold before I rode out of his place. Now I wait for 2moro to find out if more air has leaked. I kinda have a feeling that it has given way.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Postive had a usual puncture and had done mushroom fix,6months and running and absolutely nor probs!
Note: I get 10 kms of off-roading on that shitty shitty road which I have to take to go to office. My guess is that the tire was weak enough to not be able to take the strain.
Yea.. solo mushroom fixes last, but when 2 of them get close, the rubber wall between them starts rupturing. Happened in my case. Yea, I was thinking about Pirelli Sport demon's but I'm really open to exploring all options before settling for anything. I think PSD's come in that profile - 140/70 and not 140/60.Originally posted by nand15 View Post^^ Have you tried the mushroom puncture fix ? got it done yesterday for my rear tyre , seems to be a good solution ... well i guess it would take time to say exactly how effective , but i'm just saying ...
Hmmm... I did see a pirelli sport demon front tyre there at the store yesterday ... didn't inquire about the cost . If you do change to pirelli , plz let us know ... and btw , what profile ? 140/70 ?
I had 2 nails in those places - both about 3-4 inches in length. Still dunno what I'm gonna go for. I'll ask around for where to get PSD's. where in Nana Peth can I get them (name of the place) and would they be original?Originally posted by N-o-v-i-c-e View PostIf your tyre is in gud shape then mushroom puncture could be a viable option....but then again i dnt know how big or deep the puncture is.....
So...it depends on the nature of the puncture and if you are gonna change to the Pirelli then where are you gonaa buy it from.....nana peth or somewhere else?????
cheers......
So, yea.. I'm looking for suggestions. My requirements are mostly traveling to office - so thats 50 kms of bad road in a week ; IF they dont call me on weekends
- and some high speed highway runs once in a while... would like something that grips really hard - something like the compound of R15 stock tires. Don't wanna wash out in the corners
Help me please

So the NB isn't killing ur battery? Or did u get that changed as well? do the lights look legal?Originally posted by shamanthnv View PostI am using Osram NB for more than an year, brightness is very good and solves the problem of poor OEM light of FZ. When you switch on High beam on NB, even cars give respect, diming their light if they are in high beam.
I was kinda thinking about making the high beam into a big bright one coz when i really need it, I am left disappointed with the stock ones.

NBs will not kill your stock battery and are perfectly legal....Originally posted by s_and_m View PostSo the NB isn't killing ur battery? Or did u get that changed as well? do the lights look legal?

as per past experiences of various people you should not use synthetic oil untill the bike has run at least 4.5k-5k km... i would recommend you to switch back to mineral oil as soon as possible...
both the bulbs are good... but osram NBs are supposed to be the best in class (not my opinion but hearse)...Originally posted by rohan_5013 View PostAlso guys i wanted to fit new bulbs for my fazer but not sure abt whther i should get osram nbs or philips xtreme power..could any1 tell me the price of these in bangalore and also abt touch up paint for red fazer.
sorry for so many queries but i hv to get these done by saturday
osram NBs cost around 1500 rs per pair... for touch up paint try this site Com-Paint Touchup Spray Paint, aerosol spray paint, supplier of spray paint, spray, spray paint, touchup, touch-up, aerosol spray paint manufacturers, spray paint,Touchup, Touch-up Spray, Spray Bottle, aerosol spray paint manufacturer, com-paint manufTimon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Battery is not really an issue. Go to any Exide/Amaron/Bosch battery showroom and get the equivalent battery. Make sure the Ah rating and the terminal positions are the same. Also 1100 seems too expensive isnt it? Are they going to put in a maintenance free battery??Originally posted by avithe1 View PostYesterday my bike stopped to start twice on signals. It just refused to start had to run a bit dragging the bike then it started both times. Today took the bike again to the SVC he told me BATTERY REPLACE karna padega.
My bike is 1yr and 3 months old , price quoted 1100 Rs. Told him OK replace kar do, he said STOCK MAIN NAHI HAI, as always for any part.
Guys what do u say, need expert opinions.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

i think the service center price for a new battery is 1100-1200 atleast in mumbai. If you are doing so then definitely go for a maintainence free battery and make sure the terminals are either greased or covered with petroleum jellyA quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Finally. Man your leak was almost a saga... Moral of the story: Dont trust SVCs on tyre issues go to a proper tyre dealer. I am guessing Sai is on JC Road?Originally posted by nand15 View Posthey guys , Finally found the time to go to sai iyengar tyres today ... went there and told them my problem , he checked an the front tyre was leaking from the sides in 2 places
... the rear tyre was leaking from where a previous puncture fix was done ... so he deflated the front and then wiped it out and re-installed the tyre and voila !!! no leak ...
,
onto the rear tyre and took it out and did the mushroom fix ... took out tyre and then filed the puncture hole fropm the inside and then put the patch on it ... seemed a really effective thing as the patch covered a large area and since it's done from the inside should be better ...
and then checked for leaks , found none ... now just crossing my fingers and hoping that it stays this way ...
total damages ... 350rs ... 300 mushroom fix and 50 for the front tyre ...
Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

I can tell u from personal experience that FS oil is not the cause of your problems. I had switched to FS oil as early as 2000 km on the odo. The knocking points to problem with the spark plug.Originally posted by rohan_5013 View PostThe wire originates form near the clutch lever, thts all i know abt it

I think this "wire" that the SVC is talking about is to check if the clutch is pressed or not. This can be verified by others too, in gear, without pressing the clutch and trying to start the engine wont do anything. How much are they quoting for the wire.
Also I've used Philips Extremevision on my car. They are about 40% better than the stock lamps (the stock lamps were of Phoenix which is probably the worst lamp maker there is)... The cost was 1500Rs for a pair of H4s. Amongst car forums I've read that the Philips is better than the Osrams on lifetime. Brightness wise they both are the same. I cant comment with experience on this though.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

I called up 3 SVC's, BATTERY NOT IN STOCK at two and one didn't pick the phone. Anyways I saw in the manual that ours is AMCO AB5LB battery. I saw AMCO's site and saw that this particular battery falls under 'Dry Charged Series' whereas there is one more varient AB5LB MF which is the same spec but maintenance free. - (see attachment)Originally posted by dude_phenom View PostBattery is not really an issue. Should I get the knocking checked at the SVC coz it only happens at 1st gear and neutral..the SVC is quoting 90 bucks for the wire.
I found out tht Philips Xtreme Power is half the price of Osram NBs
750 bucks for 2 bulbs..
