most common nagging problem with all disk brake bikes. Dirt has got into the front brakes. Get it cleaned properly.. the sound should disappear.

now xtra-premium, speed and power are also 91 octane but with additives.
speed 93 and speed 97 are higher octane variants.
obviously the mileage would increase with these premium fuels but their premium cost nullify their effect. What i'd like to know is if theres any advantage going in for these premium fuels for our bikes. any difference in performance/smoothness or something?
whoa. bloody arseholes. same everywhere.
i am not too sure how much gain you will get shifting to a higher octane fuel. All indian bikes are tuned to run on normal fuel... i have been using normal fuel and still fetching good FE. Not that i care about it. i prefer thrash mode

i cannot be sure as no one can test it but it is said that a higher octane fule helps to keep the engine and other parts cleaner than the regular fuel because of a higher composition of fuel in it....Originally posted by eliksir View Postits not FE that i'm talking about. does going for the premium ones have any other advantages ?Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Thanks Rak and Dude phenomenon
Thanks rak and Dude_phenomenonOriginally posted by nand15 View Postwell actually an attempt to resolve it wasn't successfull , tried the battery charging , worked for a bit , then it became progressively worse till it shutdown completely ... then the SVC checked it and "fixed it" , well now that fix has lasted about 3 months ... a local mech was the one who told me about the relay being the culprit for the entire thing ...
, i will take my bike to local SVC and try to resolve the problem.
By the way what do i need to tell them, i mean how to describe my problem so that they can understand correctly?

here is where i had a major problem ... If they try the bike and find that the starter works , then they will try and sell you the "everything is fine sir" dialogue ... Man i get pissed when they say that , why the heck would i be wasting my time here if everything was fine ...Originally posted by Nandyfz View PostThanks rak and Dude_phenomenon

Does your starter work on occasions ? , just try and tell them your problem and hope it (starter) doesn't work when they try it ... or else just sit on their heads to check all the electrical lines and contacts ... generally maybe a loose connection with the kill switch ...Last edited by nand15; 01-10-2011, 12:45 PM.People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

My personal experience, i haven't seen any difference in performance nor any gain in FE. However, others may beg to differ. I have tried speed 97 twice from different petrol bunks. however, if you do fill it up once in a blue moon, may help to keep engine internal parts clean..i have just heard about it cannot confirm though.Originally posted by eliksir View Postits not FE that i'm talking about. does going for the premium ones have any other advantages ?Last edited by shv18; 01-10-2011, 12:39 PM.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

^^ it helps with running the engine cooler, cleaner and more efficient. But all these benefits are actually derived from a higher compression ratio engine, rather than normal 9:1 engines.

nps dude.....but remember, first take your bike to a local mechanic and check what is working and what is not. I had a really bad experience in this case with the Yamaha SVC. But I knew the part which they were asking to replace was working fine as I got it checked earlier from a local mechanic.Originally posted by Nandyfz View PostThanks rak and Dude_phenomenon

Dont trust the SVC guys .... and remember get it done in front of your eyes. If they tell you that some part is not working then ask them to put that part in some other bike and check. Dont blindly trust them.

Guys going to change to the unicorn's 15 tooth front sprocket ... to try and push the powerband to the topend ... will be giving up a bit on the low end torque . But since the FZ16 already has truck loads of it , willing to take the gamble ... will keep you informed on my findings
