Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Rear wheel bearings have gone kaput. Get them replaced and well greased. Additionally, check for the drum brake's lining. It shouldn't be stuck when brakes are not applied. For checking the drum brakes, park your bike on main stand and rotate the wheel by hand. If you feel a resistance, you've a stuck rear drum. But do get the wheel bearings serviced and replaced if necessary.Originally posted by [email protected] View PostGot a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

K bro thank you, will check for bearing, brakes are working fine but wheel doesn't rotates freely, maybe fault with bearing only..Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostRear wheel bearings have gone kaput. Update on carb:Originally posted by ramprasadkamineni View PostThanks a lot for the info.
May I know what exactly is the problem with your bike's carb?
The mechanic tells that the carburettor has become weak and it's better to change and he also tells that carburettor complaint is there in fz and also it is familiar with the bikes which completed 30k kms
Don't know if it's true or not
Replaced the carb with Apache rtr 160 and also the right side switch gear which now accomodates only one accelerator cable. A slight delay in the initial pickup can be felt.
Filled exactly a litre of petrol and mileage was 66
Will check the mileage again and update on it

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi need some help regarding fork oil change for FZS. Left fork of my FZ-S (2012 Model) having leakage, I'm gone through previous all posts and decided to replace fork oil and oil seal of both the forks. I'm getting done this work from local mechanics. I have purchase oil seal and Motul fork oil of grade 20W. My concern is manual states that each fork required 459 ml of fork oil of grade 10W, however, i have purchased fork oil of grade 20W, so a quantity of the fork oil will remain same or it will change.Originally posted by thewanderer85 View PostCool. Thanks for the advice.
Can you share a DIY link/ steps for the same? Appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
1. I suggest you get this done from a authorised service provider. I have suffered this issue a lot in the last few years, and the work done by local mechanic doesn't last for more than 6-10 months for me. But work done by ASS lasts for a long period.Originally posted by paragfzs View PostHi need some help regarding fork oil change for FZS. Also, if your 2 front forks have suspension fluids of different thickness, your ride and balance will be affected. I suggest both forks have oil of same grade.

I had same problem one month before and i understand your confusion. There are 2 possible solution
1. Get fork refilled at authorised service centre with all genuine accessories. Hassel free but costly.
2. Get original oil seal, motul 20w fork oil and get it replaced via a local machanic in your personal observation. Comparatively cost saving.
Now the quantity issue. If you fill fork oil according to service manual then you will face very hard suspension and may end up with tearing fork seal.
I personally used exaclty 250 mls in each leg and they gave me very smooth operation. Using since last 1 month without any problem.
Tips.
1. Always measure correct amount of oil. Don't take guesses as they will harm your bike balance if you pour different level of oil in both legs. So always measure your oil with measuring jar.
2. If you find suspension is lighter after fitting in bike, you can add exact same amount of oil in both legs equally without removing fork. Just open the top cap and pour oil in it. (Try increasing 10 mls in each leg if needed but i think 250 mls is a decent amount of oil for perfect operation)
Hope it will help
Cheers

Thanks for such detailed guidance. actually, i don't have faith in these authorized service center peoples, that's why I decided to get work done from a local mechanic under my observation. I have purchased all genuine accessories and most probably will get work done tomorrow. Will update on same soon.
Thanks again for help.

I too don't trust service centre guys as they half heartly treat your bike and they don't follow your command. That's the big reason they dis-satisfy the customers. It's better get the work done by an experienced local machanic.
Just measure the oil accurately. That's the main thing you should be careful about. Even you can help him measuring oil if needed as machanics are often busy in other things. I measured oil with myself when the mine bike's fork was filling.
There are different ways to measure oil. You can use measuring cup. You can use a bigger syringe either. Or any other accurate measurement method available.
Cheers.
