      Hi guys,

I am looking for pre-owned fz. My budget is 25k went through lots of ads in OLX and shortlisted some bike which is 2009 model and 30k KMS done.

I want to know what I should be looking for when buying second hand bike and anything in particular to be checked before buying 30k KMS or 50k KMS old fz

Hope you guys can guide me

      Thanks

Most importantly the engine oil level should not go down i.e., the bike should not emit visible smoke or soot inside the tail pipe. You should also have a look at the color of the spark plug electrodes.

Previous model is known to give 35km/l in all practicality. Version 2 model gives somewhat better mileage.

It's not that complicated Brother . Simply easing off the throttle will engage engine braking at whatever speed or RPM you may be . To use it singularly , don't touch clutch or wheel brake levers while doing it . Sometimes you may need to shift up or down gear to match engine RPMs and prevent stall while doing this . But thats again because you have used wheel brakes and/or clutch before engine brake from force of habit . Also don't blip throttle . Actually downshifting before using engine-brake may produce too aggressive braking action or a stall .

Secondly there is nothing fragile to break by using engine-brake . It is the most robust , reliable , safest and wear-free brake compared to any wheel brake . While engine-braking the engine is doing exactly same things it is designed to do , somewhat in reverse . There are no engine parts that may break or wear un-usually if run in reverse . Bike stability remains fine since there is nothing to balance between front/rear wheel brake forces etc . Unlike wheel brakes , engine brake do not fail , needs no separate maintenance or adjustment . Just learning by trying it . Infact since it's just slowing down the bike by rolling off the throttle , many of us are using it everyday without knowing . I am very fond of it
Only con I can think of is while engine-braking singularly , your brake lights aren't on and that may confuse a rider behind who won't know you'r slowing down .

For stock plug users, 3 full counter clockwise rotation from the full locked position.
For iridium spark plug users, 3.25 turns.
Check clear throttle response with just small blip from the accelerator. If you get hickups then the mixture must be lean. If rpm rises slowly smoothly and drops slowly smoothly too, it is rich.
Throttle response must be crisp and clear and instantaneous.

You sure the sound is coming from the front sprocket?

                      Ride safe and have fun.

The chain is tightened too much and that is the reason of chain kat kat sound (not from front sprocket).
Make sure the rear wheel must move freely smoothly with the hand rotation (manual rotation), if not, then loosen the chain.

Today, tried to change the front disk pads.. Ended up dropping this part unable to fit it back! But brakes are working perfectly fine without it as well..
