Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
That's the pad retainer spring. It keeps pads in place by applying force against them. There will be an arrow marked on it, it need to be on the direction of rotation of rotorOriginally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostOff the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

Is there any risk involved if i don't place it back? Cause the brakes are working perfectly fine without it.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostThat's the pad retainer spring. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Pads will make some noise as it have some clearance now. And there is a chance that pads will get out during heavy braking or due to an impact. Better fix it back. Every thing is designed for a use.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostIs there any risk involved if i don't place it back? Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Guys, after engine oil change, oil was leaking from drain bolt. So took to the svc guy and he replaced the washer, it was fine for month, now if the bike is idle for like 1 week i can see a drop of oil on my drain bolt.
Do i need to change the washer from metal to a rubber one??

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I think you can't add a rubber washer for FZ - it will just become chutney (for a bike like R15 or ZMR/ZMA, one can replace the rubber o-ring). If the threads on the crankcase are damaged, one can't rectify a leak easily by replacing the aluminum washer. If the threads are not damaged, tightening it a little bit further might compress the washer properly and stop the leak. Copper is much softer (but costlier) than Aluminum - I always wondered if one can use it; of course, if we get the correct diameter and thickness.Originally posted by eagle06 View PostGuys, after engine oil change, oil was leaking from drain bolt. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I have gone to svc today and he told the bolt has become loose(can be due to vibrations). He had tightened it for now.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostI think you can't add a rubber washer for FZ - it will just become chutney (for a bike like R15 or ZMR/ZMA, one can replace the rubber o-ring). He said if it leaks again , the threads have to re-bored.
It was leaking more after he tightened the screw.
I have taken to local shop where he re threaded the oil drain hole and fitted a larger drain bolt for now. Will have to check the result ==Last edited by eagle06; 01-28-2017, 06:09 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi Team,
I see that my shoe sole is getting some black stain , probably due to exhaust.
I even tried covering that area of the bike with some tin , but no use.
What can be causing this black accumulation on my shoe soles?
I have attached a pic which shows little deposition , its is because I just cleaned the area (of the shoe) before the ride.
Believe me in 2 or 3 days the part of sole gets totally black and looks bad.
Anyone has faced this issue?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Your shoe sole should be rubbing against the foot rest structure/foot guard plate and not darkened by exhaust smoke/soot. Examine the structure/guard plate for rubbing marks. I have also the same issue on my Hornet 160R special edition striking green CBS and rubbing marks easily visible as guard plate/structure is of black color.Originally posted by avithe1 View PostHi Team,

So far all queries were negative. Someone installed one and he said everything except speedo was working. No update from him either.Originally posted by rushiop View PostThe speedometer in the fz16 2.0 efi it's compatible with the fz16 carbureted?#RetiredRider
