Re: Advice on, whether or not to buy a new tyre - Yamaha FZ
What you can do is to buy a new tyre for the trip. Come back and use the old tyre with a tube for commuting. But from the photos it looks like you have a lot of tread left in the tyre.Originally posted by jake View PostHello guys,
My FZ's rear tyre had a puncture almost a year back. After a futile attempt of using a seal strip and since the tear was too big the mechanic suggested to put a tube. I've been using the tyre with tube for the past year and I haven't had any problems so far with local trips around the city. But I'm planning to hit the road for a 1000-1500 km journey in a couple of months and I'm fairly skeptical of how my tyre would endure. I'm looking forward to getting expert opinion from you guys.
I've attached pics of my tyre. The seal strip is visible in the tyre.
The other thing you can do is to try selling off your old tyre and buy a new tyre and keep it for good.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Thanks for the answer, Monk. The tyre is pretty new, only 10.5k kms done so far. How much do you think I'll get on selling it?The other thing you can do is to try selling off your old tyre and buy a new tyre and keep it for good.

Newer bikes give much better mileage than this. Maybe you are running rich. Check the condition of spark plug. Check the air filter (dont keep anything under the seat that could disrupt the air flow)Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostHi Dudes, I am from bangalore I am quite pissed of with my Fz16's mileage... I get around 30Kmpl in city ...How much are you guys getting, My FZ16 is like 5000K done and just 4 months old.
How is your riding style, ripping a lot ?
Btw, i also get 32-33km/L mostly. Mine is 2011 model.
Ride safe and have fun.

Don't expect the mileage to go above 30kmpl if you ride at high speeds, frequent acceleration and braking. With sane riding, you can easily get 35+ and sometimes even 40+ also.Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostHi Dudes, I am from bangalore I am quite pissed of with my Fz16's mileage... I have done 2 service so far next will be on 6K .....I ride it quite averagely like 50-65+ when there is free road in City as you guys mentioned there is alot of braking and quick acceleration in my driving style maybe that's sucking all of it...Originally posted by devils_friend View PostDon't expect the mileage to go above 30kmpl if you ride at high speeds, frequent acceleration and braking. Make sure your drive chain is clean and lubed properly also make sure the tyre pressure is correct. Dirty chain can reduce mileage by 5-7kmpl (experienced personally)Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostHi Dudes, I am from bangalore I am quite pissed of with my Fz16's mileage... Re: Advice on, whether or not to buy a new tyre - Yamaha FZ
Try maintaning a constant pattern of acceleration and not sudden acceleration. Clean and Lube the chain @ 400-500kms interval.Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostI have done 2 service so far next will be on 6K .....I ride it quite averagely like 50-65+ when there is free road in City as you guys mentioned there is alot of braking and quick acceleration in my driving style maybe that's sucking all of it...

Change your riding style and you will see a change in mileage also.

Re: Advice on, whether or not to buy a new tyre - Yamaha FZ
Had gone for a small ride today (i don't get to ride much expect on Sundays). Half was highway and rest mix of rular roads and twisties. I felt that the bike wasn't giving proper feedback on turns and this was inducing lack of confidence in me. Tyre pressure was okay, chain lubed few days back and no noticeable change on highways. Bike sometimes felt losing its line way too much. Suspension problem maybe, time to change the front fork oil. 30k kms is more than enough.
Ride safe and have fun.

You can get very basic handle-grips for about 50INR at local automobile spares shops. Get foam ones. They are pretty good in the rains whether you wear gloves or not. Even I used to feel the handle-grips lack grip when wet. So I got myself foam grips. Best part is they are colour coordinated with my bike (black-green)Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostGuys is there any alternative good handle grip for our FZ I feel the default grip is kind of slippery on rainy times...can u guys suggest me some worthy one's not Monster kind of things just simple black like we have on pulsar and all.....I feel rubber is slippery
