Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Get the brake master cylinder checked. Firstly, check the free rotation of front wheel, if that is not proper get the cylinder kit checked.Originally posted by GauravB728 View PostIf the pads are rubbing, do we have any option to correct it?
I had read somewhere that, the factory brake pads last more than the replaced ones.

Did you change the brake pads in SVC or local mechanic?Originally posted by GauravB728 View PostDisc Pad worn out faster than the previous ones. This one lasted only 3k kms whereas the previous one lasted for 17k. What could be the reasons for this fast wear? My usage is same.

Dunlop tuffgrip 140/70 and the threads are really good. I asked the mechanic to check the alignment earlier he said its fine.I will check it again this weekend.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostCheck if the pads are rubbing against the disk when in motion or not.

Less air pressure, mis aligned rear tyre. Which tyre are you using?

How many kms have you covered since the new tyre has been fitted? Maintain the recommended tyre pressure.Originally posted by Mizt View PostDunlop tuffgrip 140/70 and the threads are really good. Maintain 28-29psi for front and 32-33psi for rear. The ride becomes bumpy and looses traction when tyre is filled with more air.Originally posted by Mizt View Post12000kms on it. I maintain 30 front and 35 at rear.

Yes it does. Kep the right pressure and the ride will be smooth.Originally posted by Mizt View PostI will try that. Does 2-3 psi makes much difference?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Moreover disc pads are designed to rub against disc plate. There is no any spring mechanism which will pull back the pads away from disc plate. Its only the inherent misalignment in the plate will push away the pads slightly, that too till the next time we hit the brake. Correct me if i'm wrong.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostGet the brake master cylinder checked. I have also observed the concentric circular groves/scratches on the disc working area. (Might be due to running with the worn out pads last time). Will it cause the pads to wear faster? In that case do I have to replace the disc plate? Has anybody faced the similar situation?sigpic

This should help you.
Pads do rub against the disk, but they shouldn't rub too much that they will wear out faster. Scratches on disk is fine, but if they are deep enough then it might wear out the pads faster.

Thanks. I checked the wheel for free movement. The pad is slightly rubbing but the wheel isn't stopping abruptly.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostThis should help you.

BTW what is the price of the disc pads? SVC charged me 185 for pads + 40 rs labor. I'm doubting that they used the duplicate pads. The pads did not come in the Yamaha Packing, when I asked about it he said that they come in pack of 10 in yamaha packing. I had no option but to change the pads as they had already started making sound & I did not want to scour the disc further.sigpic
