BTW what is the price of the disc pads? SVC charged me 185 for pads + 40 rs labor. I'm doubting that they used the duplicate pads. The pads did not come in the Yamaha Packing, when I asked about it he said that they come in pack of 10 in yamaha packing. I had no option but to change the pads as they had already started making sound & I did not want to scour the disc further.

Disc brake pads comes in both single and multiple packing, the svc uses multiple piece packed spares as they are little bit cheaper than single piece packed spared, so not to worry the pads are original.

• Fz turns off while riding by itself

Today while I was riding at about 50 kmph my bike went off all of a sudden.Dragged bike on side of road (luckily I was alone on road).

To my surprise display was on and horn and lights were working.Tried to start the bike but bike wasnt responding at all.Turned off and on back again the engine kill switch and the bike started like nothing had happened.
I rode it around 10 kms but nothing happened
But while returning same thing happened.

I am scared to ride my bike because it is not safe while bike goes off at high speed right?
Please help me if u have any idea.

The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Have munched some kms on the ceat vertigo rage 120/80 on my fazer here is a short review:

Everyone who buys a tyre thinks that his new posession is the best, but I would try to give a good unbiased review.

pros: High speed straight line ride has improved(not above 90 though), moving over sand is much more comfortable and with minimum sliding sideways in comparison to stock revz 140/60, height increased a little (10 mm) and center stand is not hitting the speed brakers now, wet roads as well as dry roads are more grippy, Hard puncture resistant compound, more comfortable ride on rough patches, would last longer, though I am happy if it gives me 20K kms life without losing much air every now and then, less rolling resistance.. bike travels more distance when I let go of the accelerator, less probability of any stone damaging the rear rims as the height from the ground has increased.

cons: above 90 some vibrations have creeped in; on stock it was super smooth, handling is 18 if it was 20 earlier, not very elegant looking in comparison to stock, some loss of acceleration not major but minor, braking power reduced, I dont know why, but the front disc brakes are not that effective now (16 vs 20 earlier)

Thanks a lot for review on 120/80 section tyre.I was waiting for it cuz I have been riding on 120/80 vyde because the bike came loaded with it from the previous owner ( I bought a used one).
Its kind of ok but I couldnt feel the handling capability that I was expecting.I always felt like I am missing something because of this tyre.

Any way do you think your current tyre is heavier than the stock one. The yamaha mechanic says the stock tyres are really low weight. They are lighter than 120/80 secrion tyres.

A noob query, will setting the rear shock to its hardest position cause any issue in long run? Apart from stiff ride, will there be any issue to tyre, rear rim, chain?

Cheerz!!

AFAIK, there should not be any problem as the bike is designed to be set from the hardest to the softest setting of the shock absorber. The only factor that will get affect is your back because the harder the setting the more impact on your vertebral column. Do a trial and error by using different settings and choose the one your are most comfortable in after all shock absorbers are there mainly to make the ride smooth.
Cheers

My ride is too bumpy, no matter at what setting I have kept the Monoshock. Currently it is on the second setting of lower side.

How to figure out a damaged Monoshock?

• 2009 Yamaha FZ-S has become underpowered

Hi Everyone!,

I'm in deep concern with my 2009 Yamaha FZ-S losing its pickup, power and top speed, I have rode the bike for 5 years and has run for 54k km, initially the bike was pretty fast and i wouldn't know when it has lost power over a period of time, after 10th or 11th service the bike would restore that power but lately since the last 2/3 years i see the bike started to perform bad, i was told the engine is close to dying, spark plug was sprayed with oil from the bore which caused the bike itself not to start and it was a sign to rebore or replace the bore...is it time to replace the bore itself at 54k? below are the problems i have noticed.

1. Front shocks have become stiffer and i take beatings on my arms whenever the bike takes any impact from humps or holes
2. Mono suspension has also become stiffer, i take beatings from back as well and doesn't seem like the shocks are doing their job
3. Bike struggles to cross after 90KM, its like forcing an old man to run like Bolt.
4. Mileage has dropped to below 30 or even less as i'm fueling the bike more often
5. Engine sound has changed, the sound of struggling to pull, although i weigh just around 70kg, with pillion rider it struggles even more.

I request everyone to give advice or suggestions as to what action i should take restore the bike back to its real power if not the power from showroom :P

Thanks!

Bharaths, when was the last time you changed Air Filter, Clutch Plates, Spark Plug, Engine Oil, Chain-Sprocket, Fork Oil? If it has been changed, how many KMS done since the change?

Pulling power of FZ goes for a toss with a pillion. Mileage hovers around 32-35kmpl for me, if ridden sanely, I easily get 40+ kmpl.

I am not sure about the details but have you tried verifying with a mechanic about the same?

The problem is in the engine shut off switch I too experienced the same thing. Just remove the switch and clean it with WD40. and you are good to go.

There is a roller bush which is available in the bottom end of the shock absorber. Some times due to poor lubrication and rust the roller gets struck with the bolt that connects the swing arm. Remove the bolt, roller bush. Clean/replace the roller bush. Then apply grease and tighten. Keep the setting to the third step. I think this will solve your problem.

P.S you will have to remove the rear wheel and tyre hugger to access the bolt. If after removing the nut the bolt does not come out. Spray some WD40 and leave it for abut 5 to 10 mins and then remove it.
Cheers.
