Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
this is expert work, brother. make sure to get it done in front of you, will cost you about 1200/- with labor and parts in SVC. insist the mechanic for recommended quantity of fork oil.Originally posted by thewanderer85 View PostCool. Thanks for the advice.
Can you share a DIY link/ steps for the same? Appreciate it.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
if I were you, i will not. yes you can go, but stay in limited speed, because heavy front braking will make more oil to leak.Originally posted by thewanderer85 View PostUnderstood. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Well they look fine. Now my next doubt is whether the rear sprocket is tighten properly. Tightening the rear sprocket is kind of a skill involved. The nuts has to be tightened in a zig zag manner with even torque given. If the tightening is not done in a zig zag manner the rear sprocket can be misaligned and in a tilted manner.Originally posted by rahlp View PostBelow is the bill when I changed the chain and pictures of rear sprocket.. I dont know if you can make out anything from it.
To check this please put your bike in centre stand and very carefully start the engine and engage in first gear and don't give throttle. Let the rear wheel spin in idle. Now watch the rear sprocket. Be careful not to touch any rotating parts. If the rear sprocket is rotating in a straight line then the alignment is fine. Please check and confirm

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
But the thing is the sound comes from the front sprocket, that also when the bike is in gear, it doesnt when its in neutral or the clutch is pressed I will record a video of both front and rear. And get back.Originally posted by accuengineer View PostWell they look fine. Now my next doubt is whether the rear sprocket is tighten properly. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Well guys... If you'll go back a few posts, i had severe tak tak sound coming from the engine. Yesterday my bike refused to start. Since my dad has a workshop & 20+ yrs of experience in cars, he first tried changing the battery (which didn't work) next he removed the starter and gave it to some starter expert for servicing. (even this didn't work). On opening the engine cover(gear lever side) we were shocked to see pieces of screw & Springs. Later on the whole coil unit was removed & then taken to a turner to remove all the pieces. Total 11 pieces of metal came out. I was shocked to see this! Since i had a blind fate on Yamaha. The turner was like yeh loose hoke gir gaya hoga and then undar chala gaya hogaa... :/ It was a costly affair to fix up all this but the guy was like someday it would have destroyed my bike.

Sad to hear This is the reason I do not go to the service centre. Even my cl350 I did not give to the service centre even for the first service. I am a pure DIY guy and passionate about it too so I am willing to take chances with my DIY rather than take it to the serviceOriginally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostWell guys... Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi guys, I had a small accident on my way to work. As I was cruising through the main road, an old bugger suddenly darted across on his honda activa from a pocket road. I applied my brakes and my front wheel collided with his vehicle left side. I fell on my right side and so did my bike. Although I got only minor bruises, my bike seems to have suffered more. The front wheel is jammed. Its almost impossible to push the bike forward. I can start the bike and ride it forward(there is resistance) but its difficult to push it forward. Also the bike tends to lean towards one side as I ride it. What could be the reason?

Front forks are out and might be the brakes are jammed.Originally posted by thewanderer85 View PostHi guys, I had a small accident on my way to work. I guess leg guard should have saved your bike.
If the impact was more, then you need to get the forks aligned and regarding wheel jammed, get the wheel alignment check as well brake caliper front.
Ant other damage..?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I did 2 rides in December on my Fazer (2011 model).
Posting the mileage figures of both the rides which were calculated via reserve to reserve method.
Ride 1 : Mumbai - Daman - Vapi - Mumbai.
Fuel loaded : 10 litres (+1.4 reserve)
I had a pillon on this ride and cruising speed was 90-100. Top speed 119 (odo).
The bike hit reserve at 393 kms. Mileage 39 kmpl :what:
Ride 2 : Mumbai - Pune - Uruli - Mumbai.
Fuel loaded : 9 litres (+1.4 reserve)
This was a solo ride and cruising speed was 75-80. Top speed 110 (odo).
The bike hit reserve at 422 kms. Mileage 47 kmpl
Just to sum it up, a bike's mileage depends on various factors like cruising speed, weight, prevailing temperature, road condition and the bike's health + maintenance.
Avoid rapid acceleration, improper gear shifts and frequent braking for a better mileage and engine life. Always start off with a warm engine and gradually reach the cruising speed.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.Last edited by Flybiker; 01-02-2016, 10:05 PM.A Bike makes you a Motorcyclist. Attitude makes you a Biker.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hmm. Thanks for the inputs. Gave the bike for service today. Gonna:- change fork tubes/ seals/ oil, change front wheel bearing, brake caliper service/ pad and rotor change, handle bar bend correction as well as general maintenance. As the bike is almost 40 k kms old might have to change the carburetor also as the vehicle tends to turn off while on the move and it will take lots of self/ kick starts to turn the engine back on.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostFront forks are out and might be the brakes are jammed.
