Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If the mechanic of the service center do show you white smoke from exhaust by twisting hard (9k rpm) the cold engine (just brought from washing before check up) & told you that ypur bike is giving white smoke, then you are totally fooled, because the cold engine has some of the water particles condensed after the engine is cooled for a while or may be water entered due to high speed jet during washing. Nothing to worry about. If the engine is smoking in hot condition, then you are about to replace the Cylinder, Piston & Piston Ring set which approximately cost around 5-6k bucks & labor costs extra.Originally posted by Nithinchandrapaul View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hey guys me going to book new bike next week, but cant decide between FZ v1 OR FZ v2 OR Hornet160
My requirements
1. Good torque and overtaking capability under 90km/hr speed (wont drive above 90km/hr)
2. In gear acceleration
3. 100% city use
4. smoothness
Mileage not an issue
can anyone please compare these three bikes with the above requiremets
gixxer is out due to poor pillion seat,
FZ v2 looks not that great compared to v1(subjective)
is hornet160 low/mid range pull any good? comparable to FZ v1 ?
Fz v1 test driven, engine is not as smooth as people are saying its ok(compared to unicorn)
wont be able to test drive all three, so this is going to be an impulse buy.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
IMHO, you are eliminating what is currently the best motorcycle in the 150-160cc segment, the Gixxer. The latest SF variant has FI and rear disk, not to mention the best in class performance. Even as a FZ v1 owner myself, I'd suggest you give the Gixxer a second thought, especially as the pillion comfort wouldn't be much different from the other bikes you have shortlisted.Originally posted by splitsecond View PostHey guys me going to book new bike next week, but cant decide between FZ v1 OR FZ v2 OR Hornet160

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Just as I thought about all those bikes as I'm planning to buy a new one. Gixxer was off the list due to small pillion seat. Hornet bikes are reported to have issues. Customers are posting in their Facebook page. Please check that out. Hornet is actually very good looking but lacks an engine kill switch and weird design of switch keys. It's the most expensive of all (100k for dual disc version). I think the FZ16 is better for its look, engine etc... The new ones are just okay. If u r not a TVS hater, check out their new RTR 200 also. It's an exciting one.Originally posted by splitsecond View PostHey guys me going to book new bike next week, but cant decide between FZ v1 OR FZ v2 OR Hornet160

Take test ride of Fz FI and Hornet. The excuses of not doing taking TD should be left out.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Bought it from AliExpress was expensive at Rs. 190 compared to the earlier Rs. 10 bulb... But i was curious to try led. Earlier bought it from a different seller for Rs. 150 but it was shorting the circuit if u go back a couple of pages...Originally posted by accuengineer View PostHow much and where did you procure them

Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S - MOD
One thing is for sure, Yamaha Bikes are great, but I have three niggles with my 2011 FZ-S.
1. Those stock rear view mirrors are 50% useless, and better at showing my biceps.
2. That awkward looking front License plate.
3. Annoying after sales service.
So what did I do about them!
1. In regard to the rear visibility, I got some bar end mirrors, they are awesome in providing rear visibility. But they need some getting used to and needs a little effort to have a look at it. It is not a big deal, as I am comfortable with them now to the point the stock mirrors give me an odd feeling when I ride other bikes.

3. As far as the after sales, I had some very annoying moments with Yamaha ASC in Coimbatore. I complain about something and they replace something else or they never even look at it or at time have even made worse. Recently I asked them to change the clutch cable, as the rubber shielding have started to peal off, but completely ignored by them. Anyway, sometime back I have decided to take the DIY route to give regular maintenance, such as oil and oil-filter change, brake-pad/shoe replacement, chain lubrication, etc. sometimes if I do not have the necessary tools, I take to some local reputed mechanic. Finally, once a year general service at the ASC. Well, sometimes you have to bite the bullet!
Hope this post is useful!
Happy Riding!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I want to use 42 teeth rear sprocket from R15 on my FZ. SVC is asking to buy full set. They are not allowing to buy only rear sprocket of R15 and rest (front sprocket and chain) of FZ. My question here is if I buy complete set of r15 will the chain fit properly on FZ? Has anyone tried? I am concerned about chain length.sigpic
With you I realized, I have multiple personality disorder. I turn to Bionic when I'm astride you.
