I have not yet gone for the big bore but have ordered the ffe. I will ride to bangalore next month with the ffe fitted and get the big bore done. By the time I reach home with the mod, the run in will be almost over and I will test it for the performance after that. Hope I could persuade my manager for the leave somehow.Originally posted by Duoscribe View PostBreaklessBiker

why-o-why is yamaha not doing this themselves already?!Originally posted by rohan_5013 View PostThe mileage figures are about 5kmpl more than what I get at those conditions,33 in thrash mode and about 40 at 70kmph on highways..
Joel can also send the big bore to your place I believe, but the problem is the fitting
I went to the workshop and saw the bike completely disassembled..even the exhaust,so I guess you would have to know a really skilled mechanic to get it fitted locally. It took 3 days in my case..but it usually takes about 2 days..again,not sure about this
..better mileage and better ridability is always welcome..man,they shud hv released a mid life update for the fz by nw..anyways,does undergoing the mod cause a decrease or any deleterious effects to the engine life/engine as a whole in the long run???any info bout this..
@all,has anyone down here in kerala got this done?!bangalore-cochin ride is way too long for a visit to joel..

I too have the same problem with visiting Joel's place. But after reading other peoples inputs who have already gone ahead with the big bore I feel it is a worthy expenditure. It would have already been done if not for my impatient brother.Originally posted by senotrius View Postwhy-o-why is yamaha not doing this themselves already?!

This is the character of every Fz..it just struggles past 100 and my bike sometimes does not even touch 100 on the uphill, windy region in NICE RoadOriginally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostWent for a ride early this morning as I did not ride for a whole day yesterday. I tested the top speed, the max it went to was 112 and it does not want to go any further and all that at an rpm of around 7500. Is it the exhaust that restricts it from going further or something wrong. Hope the ffe from Joel has the answer but what could be the reason that the bike does not red-line in the 5th gear. I have observed that it red-lines in all the lower gears but not in the 5th. Do any of you guys observe the same. What could be the reason?
After the big bore, the one time I opened the throttle and hit 97,it felt like she was doing 75..not stressed at all and the pick-up is crazy..it will only get better with the exhaust

The daily route I take to office only has about 8km of stretch where I could go beyond 100, but on saturday it is a half-day work for me so I ride about 150 to 250 km till I get tired and want to go home(which never happened so far). Sometimes I even forget about breakfast, lunch or dinner and go along where my instinct takes me and obviously enough I get to meet some wackos who want to race. On roads with more corners the stock bike has much chance to answer such people but on open roads it definitely needs improvement. And that was what I was looking for and I am glad that xbhp answered my quest when I discovered about Joel here. Everyone seems to be happy with his work and I want to join the band as well.BreaklessBiker

Nope.My stock does 120+ every time i want to.I have redlined at 5th @127kmph for long while touring too.Originally posted by nand15 View PostI think a stock bike requires a bit of an slope to pull to that speed , it's happy at about 105 kmph ... so the big bore must be an improvement . And yes I have tried this many times but i just could not redline at 5th ... it's does not budge after 8000 RPM .
Thanks. Please do keep updating with your experience's.Originally posted by Duoscribe View Posti managed to hit 125kmph fully crouched with the new bore.. ironically this was the top speed on stock as well. but the big diffrnce is with stock the bike always felt out of breath after speeds of 110. now its a diffrnt scene. i hit the redline at 9k rpm. cud have pushed it even more but backed off.. its a sweet ride now. on highways & out of corners
