I don't know about RE reliability seeing that it usually is an oil leaking fountain, but regarding FZ-16 for inter-city I would say NO. Its the most comfortable bike I've come across w.r.t. touring, BUT the no is for its top end. You need a bike that can cruise comfortably between 100-120 for inter city trips and the FZ can't do that. Consider looking at P220, Karizma, CBR250, Ninja 250 and the likes for your purpose. Maybe even R-15.Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

reliability is never an issue with FZ-16. although it is not as comfortable on the highway because of the bit sporty riding style.Originally posted by Jeevan25 View PostIs FZ-16 is comportable and reliable for long trips....say one city to another..a long trip of 15-20 days or only royal enfield is trusted for extensive drives??

Add to that ,from midnight the petrol prices will go up by 3.14 rupees :-(Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostToday I also came to know that my Fazer has a disappointing average of 35.6 kilometres per litre.
I use Indian Oil Xtra Premium which at present cost 70.99 per litre in my city.Last edited by yamahafazer; 09-15-2011, 07:15 PM.

People have successfully completed Saddlesore on a FZ16, if am not wrong on a stock.Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostHow many kilometres and how many hours have you gone non stop on your FZ ?
I personally have traveled 750Kms in ~12hrs, non stop 300-330 KMs as I had to refuel.

I am guilty of not maintaining my bike properly, just took it for granted as any stupid with a bike would.Originally posted by RAK View PostI got mine replaced at 24K. It depends on the maintenance of the chain. If you have maintained it properly then it should last 24-25K Kms easily.
Chain assembly is making noise, and when complained the ASC manager suggested that its better to change as the vehicle has already 14K ... he was saying ideally it has to be changed after 12-14K

Bar End Caps
My bar end caps have had their black coating worn off at places, exposing the silver under belly. This is making it look quite ugly and I wish to change them. Are they available locally? How much do they cost? Cause official Yamaha prices are ridiculous. And finally can I get them fixed by a local mechanic?Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

I have once again tested my mileage today with 2 litres of petrol. with maintaining speeds between 65 to 75 for the whole time I got 48kmpl. I use nitrogen in my tyres(infact i have used on apache for 1year as well) and I have noticed that with nitrogen I only check the pressure and rarely top-up
. Also with nitrogen, the pressure remains constant and no visible loss. It is easily available in my town as there are many trucks and heavy commercial vehicles going through. It might be the reason I get better mileage figure than others i think.
