How many kms on the odo?? if it is still under 3000 - 5000kms.. then the figures will improve after the next service... Make sure that you take care of the regular things like oil change; right fuel quality; tyre pressure and the usual maintenance of your bike..

secondly.. don't sweat so much on the FE figures right now... enjoy riding your bike first. It is not a splendor so start riding like its supposed to be ridden (with helmet and proper gear ofcourse!!)

Had been worried about the mileage of the bike I wouldnt have purchased this in this first place but still I personally expected a mileage of 40km per litre from my bike :-( ,nothing more.
The bike handles extremely well ,even on the worst pot holed roads ,the bike maintained its balance even at speeds of 6 km/hr . I really appreciate the kind of balance which Fazer gives.

Your are right 35.6 isnt exactly poor but still with given the speeds its quite low.Though my Fazer is around 1.75 years old it has run just 1821 kilometres,so I dont think its the right time to get the maximum out of the bike.
By the way my highest speed till now is just 77 km/hr :-D :-(

Guys whats the basic reason behind a bike like Fazer/FZ which are 150cc bikes giving low mileage whereas other bikes ,say like Hero (HeroHonda) 150 cc bikes giving much better mileage .

Just 1821 km on the ODO even after 1.75 years .

Its needs to run a bit more and then as its rolling I will ride it as it is supposed to be :-D

I just have a good strong helmet which I always wear while riding the bike and nothing else.

yeah 1821 kms in 1.7 years is really low ... then you really needn't worry the bike will open up after about 5K kms ...

Past is past ,I didn't ride it for many reason but now hopefully I will be using it on a regular basis(still not possible to use it daily ,atleast once a week ,I know it sounds ridiculous :-D ).I have another scooter at home ,I use that more often.

Hopefully but I need to start riding it more often otherwise it will take ages to reach 5K mark hehe !

70 is for 70% aspect ratio i.e., 70%(thickness measured from rim)of the width
R17 stands for 17" wheel rim diameter..

Fz stock tyre is 140/60 R17..
So the total width of the tyre will be bigger than the above 130one...
more the power the engine will have to give to turn the lower diameter wheels so shorter..
But if you put 140/70R17 the it will have a slightly bigger overall dia of the wheel so taller gearing...so not very much but more mileage..
So instead of slightly lowering the mileage..why not slightly increase it..

This may be old topic, but i happened to stumble on this. I am planning to buy Fz16, but i am worried that i would be stuck with that 140/60 tyre without any options to improve mileage. Stock tyre seems to suffer more punctures too. Frankly that 140/60 tyre is overkill for a 150cc.

Here what i understand
140/60 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 84 mm, punctures in bad roads
140/70 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 98 mm, bad option i think
130/70 = Tyre width is 130 mm, height is 91 mm, better maybe
120/75 = Tyre width is 120 mm, height is 90 mm, Fz rim too wide for this?
110/80 = Tyre width is 110 mm, height is 88 mm, dazzler tyre, Fz rim too wide??

I also spoke to Joel and told me the same and asked to hold on for a few days more. So have to wait a few more days.

Stick on with 140/60 for 10-15k km, then change to 140/70 (who said it's bad??) or 130 (a little lighter, looks odd). Don't go down beyond that.
