i asked then to pour 1.2L they told that yamaha dosen't provide it as a can
so i hav decided to buy a 1L and pour 200ml extra during every service so how long can i store it
i have fixed in my mind that i will be on mineral atleast till 5k is there any thing wrong with it

    @rohan_5013
    thanks for the pics man
i suggest you to get the forks checked again tell them that the bikes goin left or get an opinion from another svc first
Hmm..I guess I will go to another SVC..thanks
IIRC, Deville had a similar problem(Knocking forks)..did you get it fixed?

Check your wheel Alignment also , but since you said you had a crash the problem is most likely the forks ... Didn't pacer sort it out ? sit on their necks and ask them to do it for free ...
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

knocking can also be caused due to the cone set ask them to check that also

I wasn't mocking you in any way. I dont understand why you felt offended with my post. I know that helmet is very important and was glad that you came out safely.
At this age adrenaline takes over all your senses very quickly, thats for sure and the same must have happenned with this guy. I am sure all of us went through that period.

Get your cone set checked. Also engage the front brakes and try to compress the front forkes. If 'KAT KAT' sound is still coming then its definitely Cone Set gone bad.

Thanks for your valuable inputs guys..the problem is sorted out for now atleast...went to Pacer and told the mechanic my problem and he removed the fork nut and tightened something below and took it for a test ride ..and it was solved Minor thud noises, but much better

EDIT : Changed oil and the level was about 850ml from the initial 1L that was put in and the 150ml drop caused the dipstick to show minimum ... interesting ... Changed oil and this time changed filter also as it was about 6K kms old . hence needed about 1.1L of oil .
Bro any reason ur using 15w50 instead of the recommended xw40..as I have only few kms of run-in left after which I will also be changing oil..had a chat with Joel and he told me not to go for anything thin like 10w40..so considering something thicker for the 180cc block..how was your experience with the 15w50?And how lond did it last?
Also Joel's FFE delayed till this weekend..

I've just put it in ... I was using 20w50 FS and it lasted me only 2K kms ... But maybe that was because I did not put in the extra 200ml oil when I changed the oil filter the last time . The oil was good , just the level was bad .

Long history , the SVC had suggested 5w40 , damn thin oil .. And now according to experts my engine might have accelerated it's wear ... so to stem the rot I shifted to a thicker oil ... the reason I changed was because I had nothing to top up , but the oil characteristic was still pretty good . Only the quantity dropped that too because of my own stupidity of not putting in 1.2L when I changed the oil filter .

But now all is well and the bike is roaring again

That's a bummer! Man if there's one thing I've learnt the hard way, don't depend on these SVC mechanics. Do your own homework and if possible supervise their work. If not, get simple things done from a normal mechanic who you can supervise so that he gives as much love to the bike as you do and go to SVC only for major repairs. I'm frankly disappointed w.r.t. SVC who should not discriminate on how to treat bikes whether they cost 70K or 10L.

I Generally don't , but most people whom I asked don't worry about the number before the "w" ... i.e Xw40 is alright , but now I'm running 15w50 . after the guys on the engine oil thread advised and also a friend of mine , kind of expert on this stuff (not here on Xbhp) .

OH MY GOD..guess what??The oil I assumed to be 10w40 agip racing 4t is infact the same as yours...20w50..I really need to check what grade I am buying..OMG man
Now I have a real problem..there was 10w40 agip FS oil in the bike..which had reached below minimum level mark..so I,thinking that this was the same grade..used it to top up the oil, that too twice..it has lasted nearly 4k kms..I hope my bike's engine is fine..
Now there is almost 200ml in the bottle(as there are 5 "layers" on the bottles design, the oil nearly fills one of them)
Should I buy another 1L of 20w50 and change the oil??

Oil till the level marked in yellow

"You should have given that guy & his parents some peace of mind." was the part I didn't quite get, so i reacted like that, but apologies We were in traffic going at speeds of 15 to 20 kmph, imagine if he hit someone like that on a highway with speeds exceeding 40. That guy did not have proper control of the car. He was still learning the car it seemed. If I didnt know his father I would have given a police complaint.

I think he meant A piece of your mind ... In other words blast them

@rohan : I think it might be better to change it , as 800ml of the oil is already 20w50 going by the level in the bottle ... only the 400ml is 10w40 .
