Rust has not developed on my Fazer till now !Touchwood!Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostOwners of Fazer in India, are u facing any problems with rust or vibration after long-term use of Fazer? Kindly let me know. Thanks.
However, vibrations have increased in due time, but that too because of my own negligence.

Desperate for help
I bought a new fz about 2months ago.everything was fine.
Today somebody at my collage replaced my instrument panel with his.I was shocked. When I first bought it someone even stole the back sticker but i didnt care as it was only a sticker. But this is too much. There is clear evidence they handled it pretty roughly it was like the panel was chopped with hammer or something.there was oil on my front tyre.
Is there anyway that i can trace him?there is a number beneath the instrument panel is it of any significance?will it match with his bike's number?
there are about 7 or 8 fz-s in my college and a couple of fazers.most of them were bought in dassera period.I bought mine on november 21st.
Thanks for any kind of help

shoot a mail to the Yamaha back office stating your problem.do write the chassis no,model no,buying date & also the instrumental console serial no.Yamaha keeps the record of all single parts used in the bike according to my knowledge.you might have to lodge a FIR.but first you send the mail & see what is the response from their side. Also get in touch with your authorised dealer about the problem.Originally posted by ssdeep View PostI bought a new fz about 2months ago.everything was fine.

check with the meter connection,if possible short cirquit it & demand a replacement of the console under warranty...that way u will get a new console as ur bike is new.

stick to mineral untill 2000kms after that you can switch to semi synth 15W50 Motul....Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI'm not well-educated about engine oils.Hence, what engine oil is best during run-in period for FZ and after run-in? Can I use Motul Semi - Synth 15W 50 oil from the beginning of purchase of bike?

Assured mileage of 35kmpl on my Yamaha Fazer
Till today I had never gone beyond 40Km with my bike in reserve but today because of some reasons I had to stretch it and by the time it reached the petrol pump it had already covered 42.2Km in reserve.I don't know how much more it could have done.
So the mileage comes around 42.2/1.2=35.15 kmpl
As such I assume my Fazer's mileage to be 37.5kmpl,not sure though.
I reached the pump and filled 1.37L IOC Xtra Premium for 100 rupees. (73.1/L)
Is there any advantage if one uses these high octane petrol ,be it Xtra Premium or other such grade petrol from other companies?

Oh,thats heart-breaking absolutely. U should have done a PDI properly before taking the keys. Maybe this has happened because of the Vietnam weather. Put generous amounts of anti-rust coating and repaint the parts ASAP. That will help a lot,I did that on my Pulsar and its working kinda alright.Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostWell: I call that rust
and this bike is just over 2,000 km, four months old, and I have sprayed it with WD 40 form the first day. Actually these rusted parts, all of them Fazer's semi-fairing supports, were already rusted when I got the bike, due to "external show room" during Vietnam rainy season!
. This may indicate a poor subcontract of these supports and/ or poor quality control, which is obvious on this bike, but some other rusty spots are, alas, on the frame itself too!
I am sure the pickup and initial pull of Fazer is much lower compared to FZ? Or is it very minimal? Has anybody done a drag race or has a video of a drag race between these two bikes?
Guys,I can't still decide whether to go for FZ-S,Fazer or R-15...with money being a very important factor,as usual!
Fazer would give the best of both worlds: Fat tyre and R-15-ish looks.
To add fuel to the fire, the dealer of Yamaha has given a sweet deal for R-15 v2.0 :
Downpayment: Rs.50k, EMI of Rs.6500(approx) for 12months.
Paying the whole amount upfront will burn a deeper than the deepest hole in my pocket.
Now,what to do?

What back sticker are u talking about? The Yamaha logo sticker above the backlight?
As said already,short-circuit the panel and claim warranty...really shocked to hear all this.
If your college punks are like this, u better shell out a few bucks and get a security alarm fitted. Or u can do what I do,keep the bike parked away somewhere safe and away from the general parking, maybe near the cafeteria or Security Guard kiosk.Hope this helps.
I forgot to check or even ask the dealer...is there any storage compartment in the FZ & Fazer under the seat or elsewhere that I can keep the bike papers and other small stuff?Last edited by SpeedyKol; 01-11-2012, 09:50 AM.

i always carry a backpack around with me....Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostThen where do I keep all the bike papers and Pollution Certificate and other papers? carry around in a bag always???

helps lot of times:
1. carry your papers.
2. your riding gear (wont believe but i am able to stuff my dsg maze and my cramster gloves in my bag)
3. gives as extra cushion if you fall.....
see as far as your deal is concerned if i had been in your place i would have bought the r15 on installments.... and of course the big assumption you can take the mileage bug....
you will get one of the best performing bikes with looks much better than the fazer (IMO)....
plus with r15 you open your world to a host of upgrades performance wise and i am not talking about some cheap filters and a tin can exhaust but serious stuff like engine reboring, high lifted cams, an ECU upgrade which allows the bike to rev upto 14k rpm...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
