Yup indeed it was me... i was wearing black rider's jacket and knee guard along with 4 Ninja riders.. i believe you were along with an R15 rider?

with stock exhaust it is no fun to ride her.. FFE makes everything quick...

      • Sent my bike in for 2nd service today My bike has clocked 2400 on the ODO . Found a good mech there atlast , last time my carb setting were screwed up and my bike choked when going above 80 , it didn't go above 85 for that matter.

        1. Changed Engine Oil (20w40 Yamalube Mineral)
        2. Changed Oil filter
        3. The guy changed the Jet in the carb , Its a yellow color screw inside it (is that what you call jetting ? )
        4. Regular Maintenance

        Your comments and suggestions please

            I am No Expert...

But suggest get the engine checked once from a competent SVC... as in opened up.. If what you are saying is true that within 100 kms your bike is eating up a lot of oil... that means that the piston rings might have gone bust. Also the intake and exhaust valves will have a huge deposit of tar on them sticky stuff which one of the members luckyluke had posted pictures of.

This usually happens when one is doing hard riding without checking the engine oil as a result the metal parts rub against each other and eat up because of lack of lubrication. If the SVC advises you the replace the piston rings do so and that means that you will have to re-do 1000 kms of run-in. i suggest do it nicely this time and make sure you follow the manual to the T.

2ndly highly recommended to change the oil shift to Motul Semi - Synth 15W 50. you have to buy two 1 ltr cans. 1st one to fill up fresh oil and the 2nd one to keep the engine oil topped up whenever needed. Wrong grade of oil burns up quickly when the engine is stressed at high revs.

No offence sir but you seem to have missed what I wrote down. I mentioned rides of 500 km at speeds of 110 + kmph... I run Yamalube SS 15W50.... Also we have already done a test of 1000km at speeds of 95-100 kmph and the oil sustains itself....

Hi, if that's the case then just follow the 2nd line... 15W 50 semi synth from Motul. If you do a lot of highway riding then i suggest that you go for FS oil from Motul or Agip. FS oil have a longer service interval around 5000 - 6000 kms (based on your riding habits). Motul 15W 50 costs Rs. 860 in Mumbai (prices may vary in Pune) for 1 ltr of can. I have heard good reviews of Agip FS oil as well. i believe it costs around 680 bucks per ltr. according to my experience so far 15W 50 for the weather conditions in India seem to be the best.

2ndly it is not a good idea to keep the engine at redline all the time. My yesterday ride was just for test purposes. If you indeed do highway rides then go for the front 15T Sprocket mod as suggested by Nand15 previously on this thread, you will have better top end speed and engine will be at lesser stress level however at the cost of intial acceleration.

                  Fork Seal Replacement:
Anyways, spoke to the head mechanic from yamaha SVC about my doubt on the front shocks, indeed the right hand seal has gone bust. However, this month i have already spent quite lot on servicing and my other long rides. He has suggested to keep the front fork cleaned all the time. If the oil somehow seeps in the front brakes then braking will get severely affected. will get the fork seal work done next month.

                  Cheers

I was thinking along these lines. The faired version looks great, but the price is Rs.6000 more than the naked version in India. But I don't do touring at all and my ride is purely city driving. But the rust issue is what's bothering me.I can always open the fairing and clean it up.

Owners of Fazer in India, are u facing any problems with rust or vibration after long-term use of Fazer? Kindly let me know. Thanks.

                      • I'm not well-educated about engine oils.Hence, what engine oil is best during run-in period for FZ and after run-in? Can I use Motul Semi - Synth 15W 50 oil from the beginning of purchase of bike?

Done 14000 KM on my Fazer,no rust or vibrations at all yet *touchwood*
But for pure city riding,I guess Fz is better because it would be a lot easier to ride in heavy traffic, since it occupies less space.

                          • Hi guys,

My bike is more than 3 years old and has more than 24K kms.
There were no major issues I could find. But there has been a drop in acceleration. Recently, I changed the chain and sprocket set. Changed the rear tyre as well - Dunlop TG 140/70.
At this stage, apart from the regular maintenance schedule, what are the other things that we have to check/observe/change.
Is there a maintenance period for the shocks?

And also I have observed that my bike performs much better in cooler climate than in hotter climate. Have been seeing this issue for the past few months. If I start off on a nice cool morning, the bike is fine. But during a hot after noon, the bike seems to lose power, especially, when on a long ride.

I have been using Motul 300V 15W/50 FS oil for quite some time now, ever since the odo showed 13K kms.

                            Would like your inputs....

                              Well: I call that rust:

....and this bike is just over 2,000 km, four months old, and I have sprayed it with WD 40 form the first day. Actually these rusted parts, all of them Fazer's semi-fairing supports, were already rusted when I got the bike, due to "external show room" during Vietnam rainy season!. This may indicate a poor subcontract of these supports and/ or poor quality control, which is obvious on this bike, but some other rusty spots are, alas, on the frame itself too!

                              • CBR TIRE on FZ

Hello all, couple of days back i saw an FZ with CBR tires...
I had been down my house for grocery shopping and then i see this fz parked with the cbr rear tire...

The owner happened to be in the same shop, so asked him couple of questions and cleared my doubts and this is what i got in return.

                                1) Its a good tire if you wish to show off the rear part of your bike. Looks like an SBK.
                                2) Taking turns (not cornering) is pathetic. (May be because of the rim)
                                3) Air leakage is constant and felt, expect going to fill air everyday.
                                4) Major drop in FE. (Must be because of the weight and size regarding connection point on tarmac being wide)

He had installed those wheel balancers on the rims for equal distribution of weight. It wobbles at times.

Thats all i could ask him and no i wasnt carrying my cell phone so i couldnt click.

I think i saw a discussion taking place sometime back regarding direct fit of the cbr tire.
If you look at the bike it looks perfect and yes it is a direct fit, you need not alter the swing arm neither the tire hugger. Fits like stock, but the output is bad..

Upto you guys now regarding fitting.
