there are 2 types of projectors....Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostThanks RanjithMN, but:
This is not a FZ but a Fazer (very different double lights), and as I said, it is rigged in such a way that both lights are on while on high beam as well as in low beam. Funny enough, though, this does not give the lighting one could have expected: my wife's Honda "Air Blade" gives a better light!
I quite like this "double" setup, however, and would like to keep it as such, if possible, but use HID lamps and projectors for better night vision.
The reason why I am asking so much information from you guys is that this equipment is not available here (bulbs: yes, projectors: no) , and will have to be imported. So, I better be pretty sure of wat I will be ordering!
Then, the question is, basically: can I have two projectors, each one giving both high and low, or are these projectors "specialized" for either high or low, but not both? If thi may be the case: can two projectors, one for each "specialty" be fitted side by side in the optic (I have seen such projectors on some bike: they are very small)?
Annex questions: brand? type? recommended power? others info you can think of....???
one with only low beam like the one used in p220.
and the other with both low and high beam.
normally they are brandless... but you can go for hella projectors but they are quite expensive.
so as per my understanding of your requirement:
you will need 2(for each housing of your headlight) bi-xenon projectors (i.e. both high and low beam) with HID kits (35W 4300K).
some chinese projectors in india are available at around 2500rs including the hid in it. but then again their is no warranty for either of them
its upto you if you want to opt for angel and/or devil eyes or not.
please go through the following thread for more basic info on the projectors... http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...tallation.htmlTimon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

So even with HID and Projectors you want to retain the setup of having both the lights on all the time?Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostThanks RanjithMN, but:

Projectors come as Single Beam and Bi Xenon.the bi xenon uses only a solenoid flap to operate HIGH so not much power used there.
You just buy 2 Bi Xenon HID projectors, install on each dome and considering ur wiring now you will have both on for LOW and HIGH.
alternatively you can just get one projector to save money too.
is the 117.5 jet of the P220?where did you source it from?Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View PostIts the rc 1060 from k&n.
The bike showed all the signs of rich mixture when i used 117.5 jets (next big size as advised by joel). it used to buck after 6000rpm and power was inconsistent. On the stock jets it runs beautifully and also revs freely. So, can i leave it in stock and upjet only after i fit the FFE from joel (by next month)
And, I don't understand what jugaad means. Can you pls share more details.Last edited by RanjithMN; 12-19-2011, 04:12 PM.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Was away for a long time but as i read a last few posts it is deemed by ppl that a HID bulb in a reflector is termed as illegal.
I dont know from where this notion has crept in.....but for all the ppl who think they r illegal plz make a note of this. Toyota Corolla Altis has a HID bulbs in a reflector for lower beam (they are an option). Now if as some say its illegal, why would such a big company take a risk of going against law????
(i dont wanna use too many technical terms confusing ppl so i have given a simple explanation)
a HID is only illegal if used on high beam....thats y the Altis comes with a normal halogen bulb for high beam.
As for 4300k temperatur bumb is concerned...they are recommended cos they dont put strain for ppl infront of it but at the same time have high reflective power. The best of both worlds, The 6000k temperature bulbs is def more reflective but it has very harsh on ppl infront of it. Also in wet condition the 6000k bulbs are quite useless (experienced it)
So the bottom line is Using a 4300k in a reflector is OK as long as the light is adjusted in proper way.

wish i could say wat u say is true, but then it would be a lie.Originally posted by deville_56Using HID in halogen reflector is illegal. OEM fitment use HID spec reflectors with different focal parameters.
There is nothing like a Special Reflector for HID n Halogen.....i have a Corolla Altis and they put those HIDs on the car right in-front of me.
No changes in reflector......dont know y ppl have such big misconception and the worst part is they boast it like its the truth
Anyways believe wat u want to n do wat all mods to the light u wanna do.
P.S. - Wen i say Reflector i m talking bout a multi-reflector lampLast edited by iceman331; 12-21-2011, 01:05 AM.

HID with or without reflector & projector is illegal unless comes as an OEM part. I had a discussion on this in the lighting thread after I was stopped by a cop. Also if you are using the projector then I do not understand why you need the reflector. If anybody is using HID without projector & with stock/any reflector then have mercy on other riders & change it.Originally posted by iceman331 View Postwish i could say wat u say is true, but then it would be a lie.

Stock reflector is designed to work with the halogens with less intensity it cant handle an HID, for that we should use specially designed reflectors and its very rare to find. Corolla Altis diesel is the only one offers HID ready HL in India AFAIK.Originally posted by iceman331 View Postwish i could say wat u say is true, but then it would be a lie.
