  • Hey ppl got ma Clutch n Pressure plates changed few days ago and after i saddled up i got to know the difference.......the surge after 4000 rpm was completely missing....now its back to normal.
    31000km it lasted.

Dude these repair ppl (Local Mechanics) don't have any kinda reference so they can never get back a bent Rim, Handle etc to its original shape. This disrupts the whole dynamics of the components around it.

Going for a new part is the best thing to do and Tube in Tubless tires.....ya 1 of ma freind did it in his car......the Average dropped like a rock in the water not to mention the tire noise was very high after certain speed. Now on a 2 Wheeler this would have catastrophic effects. So forget dat idea.

    Go for new Rims

    • Guys,

Will the Xena X1 disc lock with 6mm locking pin fit in our Yamaha FZ disc brakes ?

Now the problem is I have been having bad tire pressure from the day 1 after fixing the bent rims. Now its gone worse, I have to fill in air daily twice.
I fill 28ps front and 35 ps rear in the morning and in the evening when I check them its like 18ps front and 21ps rear.

When checked the same mechanic he is suggesting of putting tubes in them.
Will this help or I have to change to new rims?

Changing to new rims isnt a issue, just want to know the downside of using tubes in fz tires and will it cause any trouble in the long run.

        2. I heard that you will get an air pocket in the rim and seating the tube is really hard .

both above factors can adversely affect the handling and stability .

and getting a tube to match the unique tyre profile of the FZ would be an even bigger pain .
Dear Nand15 the tubeless tyres are less heavier than a tube tyre,,
And regarding the issue of pressure drop it is better to gofor a new tyre rim & remember to keep the tyre pressure a little higher than the company recommended like keeping both the rear & front 2psi more,In the long run it will save you from future rim bends.
Change your both rims till you have time..

could be backfiring ... due to carbon deposit ... a bit of high speed riding can cure that ...

i ride in the worst of the worlds when it comes to FE
                -short trips
                -hard on the throttle
                -city rides
but my FE stands at 40-42kmpl
once a while hard throttle rides return me 44-45kmpl
have even got close to 48-49kmpl when i was riding just for the better FE

i did read that rich fuel mixture can cause the 'popping' too.
i did tune my idle rpm few months back for stalling issues!!does it mean il have to re-tune it again !!

tuning your idling RPM wouldn't affect the A/F mixture ... What RPM is the bike idling at now ?

                    • HI guys, i think i am facing this issue with my FZ16,recently started facing cold start issue but during the same i also observed petrol leak from the carburrator(pipe which is attached),so went to the local mechanic (as my bike is two years old),as per him my flute pin has gone kaput so he replaced it with pulsar 220 ones which as per him is same has the yamaha and cheaper also.but since then am facing a weird issue if am running for continuous for 14-15 KM engines shuts off and refuses to start.i need to wait for another 20-25 min to cool down the engine and after that engine starts normally.this is happening since some time ,twice it happened when i was in the middle of road and the engine had shut off,its very dangerous especially on eastern express highway in Mumbai, wife has already warned me to sell off the bike,i just love this bike, guys please help me, wanna get back on my bike soon as i have stopped riding it since 1 week.

@Shiv 18 thanks bro, have taken the appoint at SVC ,also let me know Shall i switch back to stock flute pin before visiting SVC?

Well not exactly.. i guess that can be replaced at the svc itself. Look for the head mechanic 'Rakesh' and ensure that you reach at morning 10:00 a.m. sharp. Otherwise you'll witness a long cue and waiting period to get your bike checked/serviced.

Tom my bike is going for its 7th service (paid). i had earlier mentioned by mistake that it was going to be the 6th. she is 14,000 kms old and not once has disappointed me ever. the chain slack is currently the only annoying thing, will get it adjusted tomorrow. will get a proper overhaul of the clutch and accelerator cable and if needed shall get it replaced.

Yamalube SUCKS big time!! my bike engine is bit vibey which never was the case with Motul so replacing the oil with just 2200 kms of running it whereas Motul is good enough for 2500-3000 kms.

@Mitz: will be doing my test run with Motul Full Synth oil '300V 15W X 50 Double Ester' in this service.

                              Will post details soon guys.

                              Cheers

but then again it will be a bliss to look at.....

i stll have some threads for another 2000kms tops...

but will have to change the rear brake shoes and disc pads in the next 500-1000kms.

any other replacements required??? air filter changed at 12k. oil filter changed 500km back. spark plug is still stock(no backfiring till now)

is there any need for clutch overhaull at 20k? and should i get the cables changed as well?
Nope No clutch overhaul unless your bike is showing signs of clutch wear as i have posted a few pages back. Cables get them overhauled and checked thoroughly. If there are signs of wear and tear get them replaced asap.

at 20k i would recommend check the front brake fluid level.. and if it is not that expensive, bleed the old oil fluid and replace it with the new DOT4/3 grade as recommended by the manual. Get the rear brake replaced and the front pad checked! water level in the battery. if i remember anything else, will add later.

I am also observing the paint slowly getting eroded from the front brake fluid holder, front part. Is anyone else noticing the same thing with their bike?? if i am not able to make it clear here is the pic to what i am referring to. Me and iceman331 have both seen the same thing happening on our respective bikes. probably the Brake fluid is slowly seeping out of the holder and being corrosive in nature, peeling of the paint as a result.

                                Cheers
