    Hi all,

    Adding my experience of yamaha.
I own a 2012 fazer and covered 50k kms on it without any major issue. Some major repairs so far apart from regular servixe are:
    Rear tyre change
    Fork oil/seal change-2 times
    Front brake pads-3 times
    Rear brake shoe- 2 times
    Clutch/throttle/speedometer cable chage
    Chain set
    Leg guard

The bike is still running smooth n winning my confidence.

      Hi Friends..

I Will Also Share My experience Of Yamaha
I own a FS-S 2013 Model buyed in February and covered around 15k kms using same Oil you are using Motul 7100 (20W50) Did service at Regular Time/Intervals.
I am living in Delhi and mostly Ride in traffic , same experience I faced about Traffics
Major Issue I faced on my bike
      1. Fork seal/Oil Changed -1 times
      2. Front Brake Pads Changed-1 Time
      3. Disk Changed -1 time (due to accident)
      4. Clutch cable -1 time (due to torn apart in traffic ride I was in a Shock How to Control my bike at that time , but somehow managed it and changed the cable right away)
      5. Leg Gaurd - 2times

Major Issue with My bike I faced is that Bike engine stops while changing gears speically low to high gear mostly 1st - 2nd gear , I face it when My bike engine is not enough warm up.. RPM is correctly set up but don't know why I face it... So I warm up My bike 3-5min and then Ride my Bike.

Bike is running smooth and Gear shift is also smooth
I don't Ride my Bike in High RIV and My DAD use to say While Warming up Your Bike don't Give High RIV to warm-up quickly It will Effect your Engine.
Yamaha SVC personal experience.. They seriously don't care your Bike properly unless you Told them to do so... ( I just Simply say I will Fire Up a Mail if it's not done correctly )
There were some Tough time with my Bike when got accident ..
Many Many Thanks to XBHP memebrs who came like A true Friend helping out by giving single detail of parts and service..

Do we need to get the decarbonizing the engine or the valve clearance adjusted on our FZ like the R15? Need it answered by the long timers.
I use the iftex detergent with oil and Motul fully synthetic. No engine oil leakage so far after 18k on the odo.

Not required.. Have seen people on 60k without any de-carbonising..

          • Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S

Lately have been facing alot of problems with my bike and also have spent alot on fixing it. Still some problem or the other arises very often. I am not a rash rider, sometimes though i like to go to high speeds (80-90kmph, Usually highways)
            Now the details :
            1. Have serviced regularly. The odometer reading stands at around 28k kms.
            2. Have changed clutch plate (2months ago), push rod, front suspension rods along with oil seals, rear suspension, front and rear tyre (around 2000kms ago), bearings (alot of times) chain and sprocket (again many times), battery and other misc parts.
            3. Using michelin tyres, dont like the front michelin tyres i think mrf is better in that. Height has increased which has compromosed handling abit. Using motul oil since 5th service and habve changed to exide battery.
            4. Had some accidents, nothing of serious nature but had to change the handle bars. Had to change front forks too once.
            5. Have changed rear suspension bearings and bush many times. Tired of poor service of Kamla yamaha i decided to get it fixed at local shop at borivali (krishna auto) and the problem was resolved. Still its too early to tell.
            6. Had a leak in petrol tank (near the welding) so got it fixed. One more thing got the carburetor changed too since leakage was a major problem. Carb was in a bad state as per many mechanics.

            Now the problem,
            A. Since past few days the bike kinda suddenly accelerates at around 4.5k rpm starting from 2nd or 3rd gear. Its kinda hard to explain but will try. It feels like The cluctch is being pressed at that rpm range and then suddenly you release the clutch and the bike jumps forward. Almost had an accident since i was taking a turn and the rear tyre had a burnout. It spinned faster suddenly. Got my bike serviced at kamla yamaha but the problem still exists. Whats more annoying is they said it was a spark plug issue, so got it changed too. After two days went back and said the problem still exist. They did some clutch adjustment and said spark plug has short so need to get it changed! After alot of debate I had to pay for new spark plug. Yet the problem still exists! Dont know whats wrong with the bike.
            B. The mechanic revved the bike hard and said the black smoke means piston has a problem. Now i know usually this is supposed to happen but even i suspect oil is leaking. One more thing the mechanic said the oil leaked and caused a short on spark plug. Havent heard anything like this so i said ok and took my bike. Will take second opinion on this. Also they are saying the rear suspension is not working properly, i asked how is it possible since i got it changed around 6months ago! What kind of quality is yamaha is using if this is true!

Sorry for a long post but I dont know what to do! Even mechanics dont know whats wrong with the bike.

            Really need help on this.

And thanks for reading such a long post.

              1) When was Air Filter changed?

              2) Check the Spark Plug Cap, change it if faulty.

              3) Keep a check on oil level at 500kms interval and see if oil is getting consumed or not. If it is, you need to open the cylinder head and check the condition.

              4) Change the mono shock setting and see if problem persists.

              5) Stop using Iftex additive for sometime and fill petrol from a different bunk (not your regular one).

The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Have already changed air filter (2 months ago)and spark plug (twice)
Also am using normal petrol (No speed or other alternatives)
Also what is Iftex additive? The bike feels like when you press clutch and suddenly release it but only in higher gears (3 and above mostly)

                • yamaha fzs carb tuning

                  Dear all,

i have seen many threads posting abut tuning but still confused.
i have tuned my bike after changing new carburetor but i am unable to get setting right with the threads i studied. recently i have used two throttle cable on my fz-s 2012 model , since i replaced my old carb. my tuning was ok when i was using single cable but after using double throttle cable i decided to tune it again, thus the tune went bad.
i used the method as its posted on internet , setting the rpm to 3000 and then the steps first go to leanest postion then turn the fuel screw anti clock wise till we reach max rpm .
my question is why do we have to set the idle screw to 3000 rpm , and while turning the fuel screw anti clockwise how do we know it is the max rpm.

i went to yamha showroom here in Nepal and their method was to first set the fuel screw so that rpm increases , and then set the idle screw to default idle rpm.

                  which method is right ?

I am riding first gen fz16 and it is just a jem.78 thousang kms on the odo and still on the stock engine.
                    Parts replaced are
                    Clutch assembly
                    Starter relay
                    Battery
Tyres and other consumeables and still running great.

May be it is because of service center guys. They riv the engine so high and unnecesserily all the time.
I have seen those basterds rivving new bikes untill they emitted smoke form the exhaust when they were being prepared to take to the showroom.

I recently came to know from the svc mechancic that those bikes used for promotion stunt purpose are washed, replaced damaged parts and sent back to showroon and sold from there again.
And it is sure those bikes which need proper run in are ruined by such activities in the beginning.

You may be one victim of such yamaha management.

Don't know what is the problem, but svc is not the reason because every time i take my fzs to svc for service i stand in front of guy who was servicing her.
I think initial versions of fzs has good build quality. Now i feel yamaha has quality control like bajaj has in India.

I too faced the same problem and the solution was faulty chock cable. while riding at bumps it gets stretched so it accelerates and black smoke may be because of burning of excess petrol.

Get the choke cable checked. Also, check the idle screw setting. Idle RPM should be in between 1200-1500.

                              Recurring Coneset Issues

I have changed the coneset during my last service on Dec 9,2014 since it was weared out and steering became tight and too much noise while riding over small bumps.
After 20 days or so the coneset again started to make noise taktak while riding through bumps, took it to SVC again on Jan 20 ,2015 to fix the issue. They told the forks were not tightened properly so they fixed it and the problem vanished for some time . For the last 2 weeks the problem started again especially after a water wash, I am taking the bike to service center again, what should I ask them to check additonally . Also is the 140/70 tyre is making the coneset bad that early, should I go back to stock for this reason?

                              • Poor Mileage in Yamaha FZ

Hi Bikers, I have pre owned Yamaha FZ of 2010 model, when i bought this bike it was giving me a mileage of 28-30 in highways. After i serviced ( oil change + oil Filter change + Airfilter change + carbarator diaphragme changed. Chain sprocket and tyres are new.). Now i get 32 mileage which is not a good mileage as compared to other FZ and lacks in power. Local mechanics and few bike owners suggest me to check the carbon deposits in engine head as it has ran for around 40k. If so decarbonize and do the valve settings etc for better performance and efficiency. I had driven my friends FZ (2009 model) which was giving 42-44 mileage . I expect at least 40 mileage from my bike.So guys pls let me know what needs to be done for getting good mileage?. Pls help. Thank you
