    Hello Guys,
I own a Pulsar 200 NS & FZ holds a real special place for me as it was my family's first bike. Now my elder brother has completely stopped using it as he travels more by car. I have decided to use both the bike on alternate basis. I would like to know if any Bangalore members know of any good mechanic. Its 2009 model & It feels very rough after crossing 6k rpm & takes its own sweet time to reach high speeds. Overall just not feeling the bike is behaving the way it should.

Guys the bike was jerking a lot on low speeds and shuts of suddenly for few days. Took it to a local mechanic on the way to office, he checked the sparkplug cleaned it and refitted. Still the same, later tried blocking the air filter and revving and told the filter is not good. Later he fiddled with something I think the connector between the carb and airfilter box.Suddenly the ride's sound changed it was like riding with KN filter but bike is on a stock filter. But the issue was resolved, the mechanic suggested to change the filter if the problem occurs again. The filter was changed just 3 weeks back just done 500 odd KMS on it. My concern how did the sound of the ride change after what the mechanic did, did he damage something? And sound is very clearly doesnt sound like stock filter it sounds like some aftermarket filter. What should I do next ride with same filter or change it.

        2. There is not much difference seen when choke is activated. I have mentioned before that after riding for 30 mins, stopping and then restarting the bike after 5 minutes leads to bike not starting; if i pull the choke during re starting it takes even more time to start
        ...
IIRC, it's a Mikuni BS 26mm carburettor on your motorcycle. Take a look at the choke-piston(near carburettor), see if it moves as expected when choke-lever is pulled and released.

And, I've no idea about the extension of damage this rich-mixture has done on the engine(& components) during this period.

In office right now; will check the choke-piston and let you know

can the damage be of permanent nature?
Also could you recommend me some good mechanic near Koramangala?

Please check Owner's Manual -> Pages 7-1 to 7-5 (Motorcycle Care and Storage).

I see that many people dont even bother to read the Owner's Manual.

This is a shout to everyone. Please take out some time to go through and understand the Owner's Manual. It is indeed a trove of knowledge.

The stock one muffles the intake note, when restriction is taken off the sound is more prominent. If the bike sounds loud that means the manifold is'nt properly fitted in. More dirt and air into your bike, clogged carb, lean AFR, and a lot of crap.

                Hello All,

The guy at pollution checking kiosk told me that bike is emitting engine oil and petrol more than normal (based on readings he saw on his screen).

How to rectify and what is creating problem? Please suggest.

Looks like your piston rings are bust or your cylinder wall is damaged or both. Since you are a high rpm rider, do you warm up your bike before starting to ride in the morning?

Yes I religiously warm up the engine before I start in morning. Hope the damage is till piston ring only, not the wall.

Do you see white smoke if rev hard ?(do not check in the morning immediately after starting the bike since it is quite cold in Delhi and you can mistake the vapour for white smoke)
Do you see oily deposit at the tip of exhaust ?
                      Get the compression check.
It everything is OK just tune your carburettor

                        Thanks all.

Normally if the piston rings/cylinder wall are damaged you will see oily deposits on the spark plug. Warm up your bike and then Rev hard on neutral. If you see white smoke then there is a problem. Also keep track of your engine oil level. If it decreases then there is oil burning happening. Else I guess the meter at the pollution check guy is faulty.

Regarding revving hard in neutral, I read a post by a fellow member in another thread that this can harm the engine in a really bad way.
